We spent 3 nights at the Urqu hotel. It was clean and the staff was very friendly. The food at the Panka restaurant was really tasty and the staff was attentive to all our request. The free breakfast was more than just continental, which was nice. The pool was relaxing and I don’t think you will find another hotel with a pool in the area. Ok the view of the valley from our covered large balcony was spectacular. Jose the manage that day was very helpful. Not being from Peru we wanted out sister and husband to visit in our room. We were surprised the receptionist sad it was an extra fee and not cheap. After talking to Jose he understood our frustration and allowed the visit at no cost. we Highly recommend this hotel. If you like karaoke, this place is for you. If you like sleeping, not so much. My room was two floors above the karaoke floor, and the terrible singing was loud and clear. Otherwise, it’s a nice enough place. But seriously — if you want to sleep before 3am — maybe steer clear. You’ll be woken up earlier in town, but at least can catch some zzzzs when it’s dark. When I asked if a room change was possible - barely got a shrug.
A relatively new hotel beautifully set on the edge of town overlooking the valley. On our last visit two years ago staff were very friendly, but their systems were still getting organised - in the interim not much has changed... eg while the laundry-tracking system is very organised, the drying system is entirely random. Different items of clothing came back ranging from quite dry to dripping wet. No English spoken at the desk, but in a place well off the main tourist route this is not unreasonable. Rooms are huge and comfortable. The food is quite good, while not outstanding. Worth staying here nonetheless.
It's already a winner based on the impressive views out over the lush green valley and it's decent sized and well maintained swimming pool. Being out of town the only noise you need worry about is from guests and nature, which wasn't a problem when we stayed. The hotel is only a year old and some parts are still being constructed and fitted out - such as the gym, and some bungalows, but we never had any issues with noise from the construction. I'm giving it 5 stars in light of it's inferior competition in the local area. If it was located in Lima I would grade it differently, but for Jaen there is no contest, we had an excellent stay for 7 days and will definitely be visiting again.
