First the positive: a fairly new hotel with a great location on the main plaza. Room was clean and modern. But this hotel is in serious trouble as there were SO many things wrong, reflecting a lack of quality management. A partial list: 1. Most critical, when we checked in, we noticed the beep of a low battery in the smoke detector right outside our door. Fearing disturbed sleep, we notified front desk and the solution was to completely remove the smoke detector! Later I noticed smoke detector on floor above and below us was also missing. Apparently they lack replacement batteries. Given that there is a gas stove on the second floor that guests can access, this hotel has a serious fire hazard risk. 2. Dead batteries in the remote for AC, meaning it was not possible to adjust the temperature. 3. Sheets seemed clean but had several permanent stains. 4. Only 1 towel provided. No hand towels at all. And other small inconveniences that one does not expect at this price: only 1 tiny bar of soap on bathroom (no soap for shower), a half roll of cheap toilet paper with no extra, and no trash can in the room. 5. Upon check out, we were asked to wait a minute. We did and then after a few minutes asked what was wrong. They needed to verify that the TV remote was still in the room. Waited more. Finally, I went back up and brought it down to the front desk to enable us to leave. 6, No factura or boleta (receipt) was provided at check out despite our request. We could have waited even longer I suppose for one, but didn’t really need one. But one always wonders what is going on in a fairly expensive hotel (for the region) that does not proactively provide receipts. All in all, if the friendly (but seriously undertrained) staff spent as much effort tracking TV remotes (I had no idea thefts of remotes was a problem) as on the rest of the guest experience this could be a decent option. I look forward to hearing comments from management as to steps they are taking to address the serious fire hazard issue. …
We stayed at the hotel on a road trip north to Ecuador. We happened to arrive on Valentine's Day which was the reason we thought the advertised restaurant was unable to seat us at such short notice but for the 3 days we stayed in fact the restaurant did not actually open, so first note is that despite advertising a restaurant there appears to be none. The party that was going on two floors above us celebrating valentines was so loud it was like our bed was in the middle of it. We were told it would finish at 11 and we were still calling at 12.30 asking them to be silent. We were room in 702, the room is nice enough, comfy bed though standard size double which is not big enough really, good bathroom with nice hot shower and a small jacuzzi bath. There is noise from the road and plaza, if you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs. Staff were very helpful and went out of there way to go the extra mile. I was fairly happy with the hotel but it is expensive in comparison to other hotels in the town but I have no idea what they are like so it's unfair to make any direct comparison. If I was to go back to this city I would probably stay again.…
Brought a group of 12 international visitors to Jaen and we all stayed in the Business Class. Great stay, great service, no complaints at all from 12 picky travelers. Rooms are clean, new and comfortable. Highly recommended.
