This used to be a pub which people travelled far and wide to eat and drink with its famous steak nights and fish& fizz Friday! It was always full. Not any more as the greedy incompetent hands of Enterprise Inns have seen to. Their model of screwing tenants through high rents and exorbitant beer prices means that decent landlords have...

We came here based on it's old good reputation. We were a bit surprised when we were told no reservations were needed for a Friday night, On arrival only three tables were occupied at 8:00! It stayed that way. So they were right, you don't need a reservation! The decor is very dated and tired. The menus are old, worn,...

My wife had the duo meat Sunday roast of Turkey and Sirloin beef. I had steak and ale pie with home made chips. The food was served within five minutes of ordering. However both dishes should have been warmer. But they were well presented. We then had brownies and treacle sponge for desserts. The sponge was cold and the custard...

this is more a restaurant than a pub - had several visits here and always been pleased with value for money honest food - sunday roast is good - selection of veg cooked well, decent beef - plenty to choose from - mid-week menu is good too - parking is easy as is disabled access - reliable.

Tired, dated room. Bathroom best part of room. Breakfast could only be likened to that you'd expect to watch on Fawlty Towers. Thank goodness we 'upgraded' to a full English as continental breakfast consisted of a choice of cereal (from grubby plastic tubs) which were powdery and obviously the bottom of the box and a round of white sliced toast....

Nice friendly staff and food was fab. Location was a million miles away from Sheffield arena it was as if we were in lower Leeds, which was very disappointing. Taxi cost a fortune to get into Sheffield too!

We pre booked for Sunday lunch last week. There are two beef dishes on offer, roast beef dinner or confit of beef. We chose the confit and the chef told us we could eat it with plastic cutlery because it is so tender. She was right, the whole dinner was superb, it was one of the best Sunday lunches I...

Just finished a long dog walk, called for a pint, to be told it would be 5 minutes as setting up the bar, no problem for us but as leaving the pub to wait outside most definitely did not appreciate the female bar staffs comment 'they like to test you don't they'. Rude! Needless to say we are now at...

My partner and myself went here last week for a meal. I have been many years ago when it was extremely popular and I often struggled to get a table. My partner had never been. It was a Tuesday night and the pub was very quiet with only another couple eating. The staff were very friendly and polite and there...
