In the middle of the Yarra Valley, stayed one night to attend a wedding at the Stones Winery next door. Relaxing country style lodging offering 23 rooms on 2 floors. Green and rustic setting helps you feel close to nature and there is no distraction from pool, gym nor tennis court.
Breakfast/dinner is served in another building a few minutes easy walk away. However path is not covered so it could be somewhat inconvenient on a rainy day. Excellent food quality and service.
The high ceiling lobby area offers large sofas and coffee table in front of a open fireplace which is very inviting for a drink and chat. Bright clean rooms with sunshine. Large window can be opened independently by each quadrant to suit the need and opens to rows of blooming flowers or nice view of the vineyard and ranges at the other side of the house (costs more). Both shower (big but no bath) and toilet are kept inside a good sized bathroom stuffed with quality toiletries. Bed is comfortable but it is a little higher than usual from the floor. There is a coffee machine inside the room but no personal safe.
Great for a week-end getaway from the city.

Visited for a wedding. Lovely accommodation and landscaping. We had a view from our room window (room 8) which felt very Tuscan. Loved the stay.
The chapel was a couple of hundred metres away. The temperature was mid-30/sC, so was very hot inside. The reception area was very nicely set up but the room has no sound attenuation so was VERY noisy. We went to the restaurant adjoining the lovely accomodation for breakfast. We were sitting with the gentleman who paid many thousands for the wedding the night before and he was refused a coffee at 11.05am., as "the coffee goes off at 11'. I could not believe what I heard.
Stones is a beautiful venue but there is no evidence of management in charge or hosting so it failed on this account. They should have an electric cart to shunt people around the site. Particularly older guests who find it a bit of a hike on gravel pathways.

We stayed here with a group of six and we simply loved the experience. The rooms are lovely. Everywhere you look, there is something beautiful to see, from the views to the decor. The lounge and the outdoor settings were perfect to enjoy a drink together at the end of the day. The staff were friendly and able to offer us advice about where to visit and what to do in the area. We ate together at the restaurant and the food was superb - between us we tasted most of the dishes on the menu Main meals come with a great selection of sides including paprika fries, asparagus and salad which were the perfect accompaniment. It's so convenient to only have to walk back to your room after dinner. Meletos is off the main road and very quiet but so close to all the attractions nearby. We spent one morning walking around the grounds - the gardens are beautifully designed - so much inspiration here for gardeners and designers. We are already planning our return.

We booked Meletos to celebrate an Anniversary and Birthday. We thought it was good value for the Sunday night special that included dinner and breakfast. The property and our room was beautiful and the receptionist was delightful and helpful. I read some of the previous reviews about a male receptionist but our lovely young woman from NZ was all smiles and professional. Our dinner was good but far too big a serve and so we enjoyed the Continental breakfast the next morning which was absolutely fine, especially the tea! We stopped in Coldstream on the way home to buy some of the Yarra Valley Tea ourselves. We really enjoyed our stay and will stay again

It was a wedding that brought us here. I cant fault the wedding. Lovely grounds and amazing standards. Staff were polite, efficient and willing to assist. No issues with staff.
Location and access was great.
Very quaint, small and comfy rooms.
Breakfast was very disappointing. It was a very limited and odd buffet style. Basically fancy continental. For the money they demand, a cooked breakfast menu should be expected.

We’ve stayed as part of the stay and dine package which seemed like great value.
The rooms were bright and clean with a nice selection of tea and coffee. It was disappointing that there was no milk in the fridge and no phone in the room to call and request some. Being we were feeling lazy we just didn’t bother, which was annoying when you just want a cuppa without leaving your room first thing in the morning. There was no mini bar prices either, a small irritant. It was little frustrations like this that made it slightly miss the mark for us.
Having to move the shower/hand gel to and from the shower (only one bottle in the bathroom) got on my nerves a bit, but again just small things!
Food was ok at the stables, it was much better last year when we visited. I would come again, it is relaxing and quiet and has beautiful surrounds.

We booked this place to celebrate a friend’s 70th. Birthday, everyone we met was friendly and helpful, the rooms are beautiful and surrounded with stunning views. The dinner was delicious, we ordered a chocolate cake for the Bday girl, it was fresh, moist and good quality chocolate. We enjoyed the continental breakfast, it was a huge spread with freshly baked breads, homemade jam, smoked salmon and much much more…. Absolutely amazing experience! We’ll certainly come back again.

The perfect example of how one uneducated/ socially inept, angry little receptionist can ruin an amazing weekend away! 3 couples returned from having a wonderful dinner on the property, on a vey rainy night. One couple was staying @ Chateau Yering and had a half hour wait for a cab, so we went to sit down to have a conversation while we waited, only to be told we weren’t allowed, as public areas were OFF LIMITS! We then invited our friends to our room to wait, only to receive a bang on the door and be told non-guests are not allowed in rooms! We were not loud at all and literally just having a conversation in our private space. This receptionist was rude from the moment we arrived, didn’t even get out of his chair on our arrival - no welcome at all!! He is way passed his used by date! As a complete contrast, our friends at Chateau Yering were taken for a tour on arrival and the staff were next level, going out of their way to welcome them. The rest of the staff, at Meletos both in the restaurant and the hotel were amazing! I would call ahead and see if this guy still worked there before committing to stay. Or just stay at Chateau Yering and experience real service! If you can’t cancel your booking, I suggest standing your ground as he is way out of line on all fronts!

We have previously spent a few weekend getaways staying at The Farmhouse and would have rated it the best stay in the Valley… but, things have changed, and the most recent experience was actually very disappointing.
For a start, The Stables has closed as a restaurant, and dinner at Meletos doesn’t come remotely close in terms of menu or atmosphere. Then the breakfast offering at Meletos, previously also considered the best in the Valley, is now a cold, self serve buffet (the only things hot were the coffee and the toast (which you have to cut and toast yourself). The only egg option, boiled eggs, were cold and boiled to the point that the yolk was solid and dry… Whilst the Farmhouse accommodation is still comfortable, the rooms are somewhat small and simplistically furnished, Overall though, unfortunately it’s no longer the venue that we had previously enjoyed and recommended highly.
