Amazing location, the waterfall, the campsite with the horses, the bushkitchen, the stunning view of the forest from the deck , the fire at night . The food at dinner is traditional and delicious. coffee and tea available for free all the time which is not the case in all backpackers. Good people, great atmosphere ! absolutely loved it

One of the best hostels / backpackers wilderness resorts I have been to in South Africa... Great bonfires and super chill vibes, great to meet people or hang in your group. Staff are lovely and the facilities are top notch. Didn't want to leave

Wild spirit is always a great place to re - visit as there is something new to be seen... although the food remains tasty and the friendliness of the staff is constant. Jenny Lawrence has created a magical space to share. Keurboomsstrand beach a few kms away is so worth the drive to see the cathedral rock and the pristine...

Being on the road with some friends in the Garden route we decided to stay here. Simple structure "frame and entertainment", leaves me with good memories because the property is situated in the middle of the forest.. nice music and sunsets and bright and sparkling sunrises. I say no more! Just visit it!

Stayed two nights at Wild Spirit and loved it! They had great accommodations for us, and very affordable for budget travelers. Offered dinner for an affordable price, and was delicious. We loved the dessert, especially!! They had great activities and an awesome atmosphere. Had really friendly staff and everything that we could've needed. Also a beautiful location and great viewing...

This lodge is to die for. The staff/volunteers gave us a brief tour, showed us where we can go for hikes, enjoy the sunset in a tree house and our lovely dorm. While waiting for supper (best soup) we were in the lounge area where there is a small library and friendly giant dog. The deck and lounge have free...

We stayed at Wild Spirit for two nights and it was with the utmost regret that we packed our things the Sunday. Not one of us wanted to leave. Be careful, visiting Wild Spirit might just send you into an existential crisis. We arrived travel stained and weary and were greeted by friendly, helpful staff that immediately put smiles on...

This is one of the most unbelievable places I have ever staid, hostel or otherwise. The natural scenery is so stunning it will take your breath away every morning. The staff is kind, patient, and willing to help you however they can (I experienced NO arrogance whatsoever, contrary to other reviews), and the food every night is absolutely to die...

This is a lovely spot - really friendly, beautiful retreat in the forest. The communal dinners are delicious and there's often a band playing at night. Very sociable - everyone gathers around the fire pit at night to chat. This isn't five star luxury - don't stay here if you're expecting that. Do go here if you like tree houses,...

Wild Spirit Backpackers Lodge is a well-loved, laid-back and friendly family-run business situated on Khoinania farm in The Crags. Located right on the western tip of the Tsitsikamma National Park, it is literally in the heart of the Garden Route, between Plettenberg Bay and Storm's River. Close to Nature's Valley beach and lagoon this eco-friendly open-minded backpackers is surrounded by indigenous forests with blissful views over the valleys and mountains - the ultimate place to come and relax. Accommodation ranges from simple and lovely private en-suite family and double rooms, to ready-made Safari tents, bunk free dorms and simple off the grid camp sites for budget travellers looking for a quiet place to rest their souls. The beautifully sculpted Driftwood Boma and Tree-house deck are great places to soak up the sun and contemplate the peace of your surroundings whilst meeting new people, or cuddle up in the cosy Log cabin with the cats, dogs and a fire on rainy days. Everyday enjoy yummy nutritious dinners and breakfasts, lovingly prepared with fresh local ingredients. Alternative and sustainable energy designs, creative spaces and organic gardens are dotted around this magical 18-hectare farm. Activities on the farm include swimming in the rock pools of a private 80m Waterfall, or taking a short walk through the indigenous forest to visit the majestic Yellowwood tree. Alternatively, you can get your hands dirty in the gardens, learn a new craft from one of the many skilled staff members, or relax in a tree-house with horses grazing nearby. If you manage to tear yourself away from the beauty of the lodge then there are various animal sanctuaries nearby including elephants, big cats, birds and monkeys, as well as local horse-rides and a great farm stall to pick up some lunch. Nearby Nature's Valley is ideal for nature lovers with walks and hikes in all directions, and is one of the most pristine beaches on the Garden Route. The lagoon down there is also spectacular for swimming, kayaking, and bird-watching. Adrenaline and adventure activities such as the world's highest Bungy jump, Africanyon river adventures, and Tsitsikamma treetop canopy tours are nearby. The come home, relax with sun-downers on the deck, and spend an evening under the stars talking to interesting travellers around the fire whilst the team prepare a delicious home-made dinner with fresh produce from the organic gardens.
