Awesome place in a beautiful environment, not expensive, clean, good food and nice people! You can milk cows, go kayaking, spot caimans at night, walk around in the nature. This everything is included in the price. For a bit more you can make your own chocolate and do other fun stuff (I just forgot what, as I didn't do that!)....

Grand River Logde is a great stay to chill and relax without phone and Internet. Cabins are simple with comfortable beds and moskito net. Bathroom is in cabin; also hamak on the terrace. It's in the middle of nowhere next to the river where you can rent for free kayaks. Jungle is full of monkeys and birds. And in your...

Grand River lodge has a lot to offer... Or so the pamphlets scattered in many hostels all over Nicaragua say. At the risk of sounding cynical I just feel that I should warn people about what you are walking into. Marvin, the owner is a very friendly man and seems to really love his property and want to share all...

Like a lot of others here say, this place COULD be great. starting with the good: it is an amazing property on the side of the river, has some free amenities (kayaks, cow milking, outdoor kitchen), and funky animals running around. Truly a farm/cabin experience. You DO need to go into it with the expectation that it is a farm...

To experience the real Nicaragua farm life, this is the place to go! The family is very friendly and relax. The small cabines are basic but the beds and hammocks are perfect. The food was delicious and not expensive, around 3 dollar per meal. You can also cook here yourself and they are building a pizza oven. Also the coconut...

Attracted by the location, I went there intending to stay two months. I lasted two days. What should be a tranquil place to stay was ruined by noisy, undisciplined children, and staff who partied in the evening. They paid no attention to my complaint. I was charged far more than the advertised rates. The hotel advertised that there was Internet,...

For sure the place looks very good. Quiet and away from everything. Bungalows are okay and quite cheap, the garden is beautiful and the area too. But meals, drinks and activities are very expensive. As an example, one hour kayaking is $5. For you have nothing around you must take your breakfast, lunch and dinner at the restaurant. Each meal...

Probably because of the rather remote location, because of the nature surroundings, the relaxed atmosphere, and laid back hosts - for us that was the best welcoming to our 3 weeks long trip in Nicaragua. We were extremely lucky to have Marvin (the owner) around. He's speaking lots of languages, and has seen the world. He's very visionary about his...

This place could be amazing. Location is a little finca on the river. The rooms are basic but great mattresses so slept well. Good breakfast and very friendly staff. The owner speaks several languages and is so friendly and keen to show his guests around his property. We rode horses, milked the cows, went for a jungle walk. Amazing. A...

Bring your wellies, insect repelent an electric fan and a bottle of rum and you are well kitted to enjoy this great location. Top marks for local host Jairo! He is always welcoming and willing to help. Best advice: bring a 4 x 4 to negotiate the last mile to the hotel.

“As far as possible from the noisy reception area.”

“Make sure you bring your insect repellent and a good head light or flashlight, as the lights in the cabanas are not very strong, and the walkway up to the large dining área can be dark. The village has a doctor and medical equipment, but take a small medical kit and sunscreen to be on the safe side.”
