I chose this place by chance because I had a wedding to attend in Moulins and wanted to have a full Allier experience. And it was lovely. A very welcoming hostess, bothered by a windmill project in the neighborhood that would indeed be a disaster, who has been managing this place for 22 years, with passion and good taste. We...

We were booked into the chateau as an overnight stay midway of our drive to Montpellier. The directions the chateau gave us were easy to follow even though it is located away from the main roads. We were welcomed by a friendly young man who took us to our pretty and traditional 'Blue Room' and invited to have dinner in...

We only stayed for one night, but really enjoyed the stay. We had the suite in the tower - perfect for a family of five. The children felt like they were staying in an enchanted room - imagining trap doors and portraits coming to life! We had a wonderful nights sleep, followed by a copious breakfast. I would thoroughly recommend...

What a great place. As you can see from the picture this is a real ancient French castle which has been partly restored. We stayed in February and had the room in the tower. We travelled as a couple and because the tower bedroom is big enough for 6 people we had lots of space. The bedroom has big old...

Castle and history always bring emotion and England has its fair share. But this castle in Central France has and seems untouched for a thousand years with just the necessary requirements to make the stay truly magical and bring the history alive !. This place has the classic Moat and Bailey it allows access through a draw bridge with the...

On our way back from the Ardeche we wanted a stopver 1/2 way to Paris. Chateau Max is very easy to find but is in a very rural location. Our kids were amazed as we pulled into a medieval castle and told them we were staying here. Our family room for 5 was in the tower and was well worth...

We used this chateau as a stop-over on the way to the alps, what a stunning old building, in a very rural location but only 10min from the motorway. Had a lovely night and took off next day feeling revived and ready for the next leg of the journey. Would definitely recommend.
