This is a nice hotel with parking (important if you are going to rent a car on Praslin island), we booked apartment and it was very comfortable and clean. Restaurant is fine, beach in front of the hotel is also fine. We loved that everyday they brought us fresh towels for the beach (because the old ones are sandy). Stuff was helpful, they organized for us some trips like visiting Georgette beach and Curieuse island. The best fact for this hotel is perfect location. Cote D’Or is the best place you can pick if you want to explore the island.
Dear fellow travellers Please start getting ready to book your dream holiday as soon as the pandemic permits you to fly.We have suffered great heartbreak having witnessed what happened in the Seychelles all because of the Corona virus. We were devastated to think that Acajou Beach Resort, this exquisite Gem on Cote D'Or, one of the world Corona lockdown restrictions. It all seems so unfair for the Seychelles nation, seeing that after 63 days of Lockdown, not one person on any of their 115 islands has succumbed to the Covid virus. My husband of 91 and I have travelled from South Africa 5 times to visit Acajou Beach Resort. This dream destination and its beautiful people grows on us more and more.As pensioners, we saved hard and selected this fabulous destination months ago, to splash out in anticipation of celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary there. For us,this idyllic beach resort has become sheer Paradise. We loved every precious moment of our 21 nights stay in March. It was heartwarming to be welcomed back to what has become a Home from Home for us.What a joy to be greeted after a 3 year absence & to find Ms Joanise Doway, the owner and GM and her exemplary Team, still managing so competently, one o of the best hotels you will ever encounter. How lovely to be welcomed so warmly by our old Acajou friends like Ms Barbara, Mr Claude,Mr Fahim, Kuruppu, Rayan, Bettina, Ann May and Leah. Then to meet delightful new staff members who all go the extra mile and for whom nothing ever seems too much trouble.A huge thank you to all who made our stay so memorable and whose cheerful faces will be etched in our memories for many months to come......Mr Roman, Andrew,Ted, Marc,Eranda,Sanjeewa,Charlotte, Jeremy, Eloi and the delightful Philippino chef at the pool bar. And of course to the lovely young ladies like Sally Anne, Sara and Kaycee who took turns at Reception and those behind the scenes. You handled our bookings and confirmed our flights so efficiently and kept us abreast of Corona flight changes...You were all so charming and extremely helpful in allaying our fears about suspended flights, and you all spoke such good English.A special thank you to Ted and Kaycee who even taught me new skills on my ipad! The Acajou staff are all so compassionate and twice we Seniors accepted lifts to the Village from Ms Barbara's assistant and from Mr Fahim. This saved us old folk from walking or waiting for a bus in the heat. When we did take bus rides, we found the bus stop so convenient, just a few paces from the hotel entrance. The buses were punctual, clean and very affordable at 7 rupees per journey. Be sure to book a relaxing massage with Melissa, the hotel's charming therapist from the Philippines. Her nimble fingers go straight to the tense spots and in no time you will feel revitalized! Just alongside her little salon is a bookcase where you can swop your reading material and a few paces away you will find the hotel gym and a handy little boutique and souvenir shop. In South Africa we face a constant battle with litter control and we noticed on arrival, how clean the bus shelters and streets of Praslin are and the roads are in tip top condition. We chose to book the halfboard option and ate dinner at the hotel every night. We were hugely impressed by the quality and variety of the food the chefs served us at the nightly buffets, some having a special Theme like Seafood, Creole, Asian, Barbecue or Mediterranean. No Banters, Vegans or Vegetarians would ever go hungry at Acajou. The tantalising array of desserts demand considerable self control! The breakfast buffets were plentiful and catered for all tastes. The freshly squeezed fruit juice and fresh fruits was a daily delight we appreciated One could write an entire review describing the beautifully appointed rooms, with a garden or sea facing view. Each has a private balcony with table and chairs and a drying rack for wet clothes. We had ample hanging space, drawers and cupboards with a wall safe. Our bathroom was spacious, with two sinks and a choice of very efficient showers.Yogan and the ladies who cleaned our rooms did a superb job. There was always fresh linen, clean towels, bottled water, tea and coffee and plenty of hot water on tap. We love the fact that Acajou is an eco friendly Green hotel, conserving the environment in so many ways and reducing the hotel's carbon footprint. It was wonderful to wallow in the gentle waves and to feel the powdery sand beneath our feet.Throughout our stay the sea temperature was a blissful 29°C! The swimming pool is a delight too, where one finds fresh beach towels, clean toilets on hand and comfortable recliners and colourful beach umbrellas. The pristine hotel grounds are a paradise for garden lovers, bird watchers and artists who will marvel at the beautiful contrasting colours of trees, plants and shrubs and the clever little creative touches made from recycled materials. You will love retreating into the tranquil nooks specially created for relaxing over a coffee, a sundowner, or for a peaceful read or simply to enjoy quiet contemplation. Back home now in the isolation of day 63 of Lockdown, there is so much about Acajou which we miss. We thank the President of Seychelles and his fine Presidential Team for the uncompromising example they set to the rest of the world in preparing so effectively in advance, to fight the virus. How we wish we could have remained with you.The courageous people of the Seychelles are standing together with faith, hope and optimism. You have conquered Corona-19 and will soon rise again to be a much desired, dearly loved and greatly appreciated travel destination. We love you all and hope to see you again next year!…
We were in this wonderful place and we felt fantastic. We spent 3 days here and booked a room overlooking the ocean because it offers the best view and the sound of the waves. The sand is fine on the beach. The care is excellent the staff is very kind attentive and helpful. We think the hotel is more than 5 stars. The head chef there Mr Asoka Indrasekara and he and his team was very hospitable and caring , he paid personal attention to our needs and made us a beautiful honeymoon cake at the end of our visit. We were craving for Indian food and the food they made was scrumptious. There must be many beautiful places in the world, but for us it is the most wonderful. We'll be back as soon as possible.
Now it's my turn to focus on some other aspects which impressed us greatly.Acajou is a Resort for young and old. As a 91 year old guest I have only praise for the care and compassion I have received in my five visits to what I can only describe as my much loved Home from Home in Paradise! You will search far and wide to find a hands-on GM such as Ms Joanise Doway. Her dedicated staff Team has an incredible work ethos thanks to her inspired leadership. In her review, my wife shared the heartbreak we are facing together with the good people of Seychelles as their hospitality industry grinds to a halt because of the Corona Virus. Most hotels are laying off staff and having to close their doors because of mass cancellation of holiday bookings and airlines being grounded. There is so much about Praslin which we shall miss as we return to our home in Cape Town to face self-quarantine and social isolation for a fortnight. Right now we are sitting on our private balcony watching exquisite little birds chirp merrily as we enjoy the sound of the waves lapping on the snow white beach just below our upstairs bedroom. We feel so much at home in our beautiful bedroom. It is spacious and uncluttered with a nautical feel. There is everything we could possibly need.....large wardrobes, sturdy hangers, ample hanging and shelf space. There is a wall safe, a bar fridge, two beach gowns and slippers, a hairdryer, shower gel and shampoo, fresh bottled water, a kettle with tea and coffee and curtains with block out lining which helped us catch up on sleep after our long journey. There are two bathroom basins and even a choice of highly efficient showers. Acajou is what is termed a Green Hotel so is environmentally and eco friendly which is praise worthy. We thank most sincerely the delightful young ladies and men like Wilnette and Yogan who cleaned our room daily, provided nightly turn downs and made sure that we always had clean bedding and fresh bathroom towels. A lovely surprise on our bed when we returned from breakfast each day, was a beautifully created rabbit, elephant, swan, turkey and even a stingray, and all formed from towels! We slept soundly on the most comfortable king size extra length bed and found the pillows just perfect for a great night's sleep. The hotel's emphasis on hygiene and cleanliness in view of the Corona virus has been impressive. Another facility which has become a daily favourite of ours has been the Star Fish Bar perfectly situated alongside the swimming pool. It's been a great spot to relax and enjoy afternoon tea and cake.Thank you most sincerely to Kuruppoo, Rayan,Eloi,Jeremy and other helpers who blessed us each afternoon with such courteous and cheerful service. Tonight we enjoyed a top class set menu in the dining room and we express our sincere appreciation to the amazing Team of chefs and kitchen helpers. These men work tirelessly, often behind the scenes, to provide tasty culinary delights which have surprised us each evening. There is so much about Acajou Beach Resort which we are going to miss as we head back to South Africa. We leave behind a host of wonderful old and new friends. You will all remain close in our hearts. We want Ms Joanise and her staff and their families, near and far, to know that our thoughts and prayers are with you as the hotel is forced to shut its doors for some months. We know you are optimistic and resilient. As the Corona virus is conquered, we can't wait to hear that booking has opened and that guests are clamouring to return and show their support for this tranquil haven of peace and for the precious people who make it so special. Please keep a spot for us! , Eloi and AFrom the bar when gets a magical view of the sunset…
Praslin island doesn’t have all the development of Mahe and isn’t as crowded. Nice beach, pool, people, and rooms. Disappointing food, plenty of it, just not to my taste. All Buffett (you can get eggs cooked to order).
