This remote and resort settlement is like something out of Tolkien's universe. Silent tranquility with the most spectacular cottages, and surroundings. The staff is relaxed, friendly and love to tell you about the philanthropic philosophy and stunning history of this place. Even the food is something else prepared from the retreats own produce.

It is really the ideal place to go if you want to truly relax and escape from the craziness of the city..but it is not recommended if you want to enjoy the sea and the sun obviously since it is in the middle of nowhere up in the mountain..the environment there is so primitive and you are so close to...

Nice atmoshere, poor options on food. Only salads and starters. Good wine. Nothing on the menu is produced or grown here ( as implied on the site) because eventhough we saw some chickens, when we asked for local chicken dish or even an omelet from them we were denied. May be the visit was off season.

We went for a dinner in order to get a better idea of the place as we wanted to stay there for few nights in the future and to send business. Let’s make it short because I really feel to write an essay about the misbehaviour of the staff at this place. I need to mention that we only had...

This is not the easiest place to drive to on Crete but I cannot think of a better destination for a lunch—perhaps some of the finest food I have had in all of Greece. The owners of the retreat have done a first-rate job of rebuilding and creating a space of peace and quiet solitude in a location that is...

It is about effort to come, not naturally built up expectations (as the first plates arrived), it's about what we truly deserve (and pay) after all.. Food was not right, main plate is supposed crown it was not! If one can create perfect pie, dream saussage, plant such a vegetables (!!) I can't see why the rest couldn't have been...

Milia provides that which we go to Crete for. Great scenary, good food and nature. We don't want or need the trappings that come with the tourist centres. The gentleman running the restaurant during our stay has left us with so many sayings with which to bore our friends we shall be unpopular with them for years! Our room was...

We stayed at Milia in the Summer of 2016. It's the perfect place for those looking for quietness in a natural environment, being possible to relax and/or hike around the beautiful surroundings. The houses have been very well renovated, keeping their old appearance. At the same time, the interior is very comfortable (e.g. the best mattress and pillows we ever...

We spent two nights here on a recent holiday in Chania in Crete. What a perfect place with the most amazing little individual stone built rooms. I think I had the most peaceful, deepest sleep I've had in years here. The surroundings are in the middle of nature far away from everything. The road to get there was a little...

We had a lovely 2 night stay at Milia during a tour around the whole of Crete. We chose to stay here for 2 reasons. The 1st being its proximity to Chania and Elafonisi, both being under an hours drive away. Secondly we wanted something unique from our stay, an experience that couldn't be matched anywhere else on Crete. We...

Dear Guests, we thank you for the kind words and the recomendations as well. First I would like to express our apologies for the not very warm wellcome as you mentioned but I admit that sometimes can happen- never in purpose- and only because at the certain moment we were extermely busy. Maybe is not an excuse but this is...
