Everything about Quinta de Sao Bernardo is amazing. We will leave tomorrow, after a three-night stay, with the feeling of having stayed in one of our favorite Hotels ever: - Beautiful setting - Breathtaking river views - Outstanding architecture and interior design / decoration - 6-star service by EVERY member of the staff and of the owners (this is what makes this property unique) - Comfortable and quiet rooms - Great food and drinks - Property amenities Congratulations to the team. My boyfriend and I have spend two nights in this amazing hotel. We decided to book based on the amazing reviews , and all of those were even beter when we experienced it. The people are naturally kind , and will do everything to make you feel comfortable and well. The food is amazing , and combined with their own produced wines even beter. I don’t have any words to describe how amazing the location is , the stunning view , the wineyards and all the beauty that is typical for the Douro valley , makes this the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. Go here , it is worth every penny and you will not regret it!

Spent 2 great nights at Quinta de Sao Bernardo. The staff was awesome. Everyone was friendly and seemed to be really happy to be there. It rained while we were there so we spent time on the covered patio overlooking out at the river, sipping wine & reading. They brought us blankets and lit the outdoor fire for us. My wife just kept saying how much she liked it there and how relaxing it was. The meals were great too. I would definitely recommend the Quinta de Sao Bernardo to anyone looking for a great place to stay and will stay there again should I return to the area.

From the moment you arrive you will be glad you booked here. The staff are excellent and really make you feel welcome. We booked one of the smaller rooms, which looked over onto the back of the property. The room was comfortable with a large bed, coffee facilities and a turn down with the most amazing lemon biscuits. You would never know you were in one of the cheaper rooms - it’s luxury all around. The views are spectacular from this property. The weather didn’t allow us to use the pool but we enjoyed the 3 hour winemakers wine tasting they did. We could not use the river unfortunately - it was rainy and cold. Their wines are excellent. We ate at the restaurant every night - it’s a different menu each time and it was spectacular. The wine pairing is highly recommended. We had lunch once and the burgers were great. The breakfast spread is also amazing. I would go back in a heart beat for the food alone! What really make this place special is true or attention to detail and service. We honestly felt like the most important people there - they really make you feel welcome. I would only ever stay here on the Douro again. Just a few helpful notes, the property is below the town, just past the railway station. They will send you directions how to get there. They come an collect you from the parking lot with your luggage. You probably won’t want to leave the property but if you do, the driving is a little hair raising at times so rent a smaller car! …

Dear Guest,
Barqueiros Train Station is just 450 meters from us! Make sure you are looking at Barqueiros in Mesão Frio and not Guimarães, which is an hour and a half from us and there is no train station. If you wish to come by train, just let us know your arrival time and we will be at the station waiting for you and will bring you to the estate, free of charge.

Dear Guest,
The ducks are wild and do not belong to us, but roam freely through the area. The chickens, which are very friendly, sleep in their coops but stay loose during the day, walking around the pool area and the estate. The goats have to stay in their pen but they are very friendly and you are able to let them and feed them. You are more than welcome to go inside if you wish!

Hi, Not really, once in a while a train passes by, but it is not a heavy used line, it didn’t bother us.

Hi Mary!
Dinner is a fixed menu and consists of a starter, a main course and a dessert for €35/person. Wine pairing is an option and our winemaker is at the restaurant at dinner time to assist with the best options. Wine pairing is an extra €12.50/person. A reservation is needed in order to join us for dinner as availability is limited.
Lunch is a snack menu and prices range between €15/person.
