We stayed a week in this hotel in April this year. The personnel was always friendly and helpful Our room was large and clean, the bed also large and comfortable. The food was good and always fresh. I rather like octopus and the best fried octopus I've ever eaten was served at this hotel.

We spent there one week traveling around the island, Very comfortable place with great food, great coffee and very nice owners. We could stay in the hotel until midnight even though we didn't pay for this day.

We didn't stay in the hotel as we were in a villa at the top of the village but we ate here 3 nights. The couple who own the hotel work very hard to produce lovely fresh food. The tuna, other local fish and the beef medallions were excellent. All served with hot fresh vegetables including the local courgette type...

Great hidden gem for total relaxation! We stayed here for only two nights because the hotel we initially booked was overbooked for this period. When we had to leave it left a bad feeling! The hotel is situated in an oasis of tranquillity which provides ultime destessing. A rental car is essensial. The position on the island is excelent because...

Very nice, relatively small family-run hotel with friendly and helpful service. Rooms are very clean and of a comfortable size with good beds. Also the balcony is spacious enough to accomodate not only a table and two chairs but even a large hammock, and the view of the sea and lots of flowers is great. We can only agree to...

Could have stayed there a week and eaten the entire menu!! Special thanks to our waiter (don`t know his name but he lived...

We have stayed at the Engenho Velho a number of times at the weekend and have really enjoyed the hospitality and relaxing surroundings. It has a beautiful setting with lovely sea views, a swimming pool and great restaurant - definitely recommend the octopus and tuna which is excellent. There is also a really good selection of wines and the house...
