Newish cabins on a working farm. We understand a/c was installed recently, and this was definitely needed and we used the two ceiling fans as well in our large simply furnished and decorated cabin. Bathrooms are outside - complete with toilet frogs at night, look attractive but are very hot for much of every 24 hours per day. Cabins have...

The Cerro Lodge is a great place to stay as it is only a short drive to the entrance to the Carrara National Park. At the end of an afternoon, we saw a group of scarlet macaws flying over the lodge and landed in the trees just near by. The hotel maintains many bird feeders so the hummingbirds and many...

We recently stayed at Cerro Lodge for two nights at the beginning of our trip to Costa Rica. Federico (owner) picked us up at the San Jose airport since we did not have a car on our trip. The cost of transport was very reasonable. The cabins are quite new, comfortable, attractive and clean. There are sidewalks leading to all...

This is an excellent lodge at in excellent place. We have spent 5 nights (4 days). The rooms are very clean, big with two beds. The shower and wc are outside, which is very nice. There is also an airco which you need. There is breakfast in the morning with plenty of choices and FRESH fruit. There is also free...

The Cerro Lodge is a good venue if you want to visit the Tarcoles river and the Carrara NP. Rooms are OK and equipped with fans and airco. It was quite hot in the area, but we slept well. It is a garded park and your car is safe. There is a central building that serves as the restaurant. Due...

This was one of the best stops on our trip. The birding was excellent, both on the hotel grounds and along the roadside outside the hotel. It is also near another highly recommended birding site, Carara Biological Reserve (NP). The accommodations and food were very good, and the staff members were very helpful and so nice. The added on-site attraction...

My friend and I recently stayed here for just a night. The grounds were beautiful with lots of birds and capuchin monkeys. However, we stayed at the main lodge which was about a 4-5 minute walk down the road from the main grounds and cabins and I would definitely NOT stay in the lodge. The room was very hot (no...

We saw the high ratings on TripAdvisor and chose this lodge for the last two nights of our visit to Costa Rica. Our private cabin was clean and comfortable. The breakfasts and lunch were very good, with lots of fresh fruit and juice. One evening, two scarlet macaws landed in a tree near the parking lot and stayed quite a...

Cerro Lodge is very popular with serious birders, and for good reason. The road outside the lodge offers some excellent birding (and views), the cabins are spacious and comfortable, the food good and the main area great for exchanging news about what was seen and what was photographed. Close to Carara NP, Tarcoles River and Jaco backcountry. We have luck...

This was my random stop on our trip. Near the coast, small town, Carara Nat'l Park nearby, and the promise of lots of great birds. This was all of that and more---the hotel room was huge, and the grounds around the cabin were beautiful. The hotel maintains many bird feeders so that hummingbirds and other birds will stick around. Frogs...
