Comfortable room, kindly staff, good position with a very nice view from the restaurant and good breakfast. We have the reservation for the mountain and garden view, but our room was just in front to the central area, where there is the parking of all the car.

I stayed here as part of a multi day packaged Overseas Adventure Travel land tour. It is a very nice hotel, the grounds were beautiful, and you didn't have to go very far to see colorful birds. The rooms were adequate; everything in the room worked. However, they didn't have air conditioning; just a ceiling fan. They had free wifi;...

If you can appreciate the beautiful grounds and buildings of an older resort this place is for you. It has more Costa Ricans staying than Americans which was nice! June is the off-season so it was almost empty. Of the 90 rooms maybe 10 rented. The daily rains were short and it was warm enough that it was pleasant. I...

The hotel is a little old. However it is clean and safe. The room was very basic, good size, no extra features. The food was very good, we had dinner and breakfast. Everything was well served. The service was good. It was weird that when we took breakfast they asked us for our room number, even that we had a...

Definitely not commonplace. Although the hotel is not fancy, nor its rooms have air conditioning, I'm sure people feel comfortable, happy and relaxed. The place is definitely spectacular !!! San Carlos is definitely a place of natural treasures. This hotel is visited by a river of hot water coming from the volcano. This river feeds 3 pools at different temperatures,...

Gym was closed due to "maintenance", no A/C in our room, safe box is not a free service. Overall, I don't recommend this place, I'd recommend you to look for hotels like Baldi or tabaccon, you may have to pay a little bit extra, but you get a 5 starts service The food was good.

We stopped off here for 3 nights on our tour of Costa Rica. The hotel is a bit older but very well situated off the main road with beautiful grounds amid a multitude of avian species. Although not air-conditioned the lower night temperatures during February were not uncomfortable; the view from the back "decks" of the rooms looking out over...

My Family and I stayed at the Tucano Resort during our visit to Costa Rica and I can say it was the lowest point of our trip. I am told that they recently changed management, but the hotel is still it terrible shape but with higher prices. Staff are not well trained and unable to cope with guests needs. We...

The El Tucano is comfortable, not air conditioned, with rather average food. The pools are nice. We liked the natural steam room. There were indeed Tucans and macaws around the grounds on a couple of occasions. We were there in a bit of the rainly season. It might be a bit uncomfortable in the summer months.
