At 4522 metres/14,839 ft above sea level this is the highest hotel in the world (usually claimed to be Everest View in Nepal but that's about 1000ft lower). It's the nearest you'll experience to landing in Mars, with the red desert views. The glass panelled dining room is a recent addition, but adds so much. At this altitude, walking round...

This lovely hotel is located in the middle of nowhere in the Andean dessert right on the border of chile and Bolivia. Our stay couldn't have been better. The hotel is located at nearly 15,000 feet, and I had been suffering from altitude sickness all day. Noticing this they ushered me to a room right away and brought oxygen to...

When you understand that this hotel really is in the middle of a desert with no obvious water supply, it is incredible that it is so comfortable and well equipped. Oxygen essential as it is located at over 4,500m but staff very helpful and dinner was delicious. Hot water gets used up fast so grab a shower as soon as...

The location at the Siloli desert is excellent. And that's it. The architecture of the hotel itself should be more attractive. Despite it is said that 23,000 desert stone blocks were used to build the hotel, most of the walls are covered by an ugly grey color that looks like concrete. As the rest of Tayka hotels, the property corresponds...

located at nearly 15000 feet, one of the most impressive locations for a hotel in the world. Food was OK (nothing special) but then the altitude was playing havoc with me, so I may have mis-remembered! Actually took Diamox whilst here, first time I have had to, as staying overnight at altitude is quite different to up and down in...

To add to other comments - this is literally in the middle of nowhere and I didn't know what to expect - I was pleasantly surprised. Luckily I was there at the start of November and it wasn't freezing cold. The hot water (use before sundown) was boiling hot and the shower powerful. I had one of the tastiest meals...

We stayed here the second night as part of our three day Ruta Tayka tour. The first night was at Tayka de Sal. This hotel was as nice. Our room was spacious, clean, comfortable and warm. We all had to rush to shower before the hot water was finished as they use solar heaters. They give you complimentary water bottles....

I agree with some of the reviewers that the mere existence of this hotel (it's truly in the middle of nowhere - probably the only 'hotel' within 100km drive) already deserves high praise! To go into a bit more detail: - Rooms are clean and very good size. Don't expect international city hotel standard (some reviewers seem to be doing...

There are not so many hotels at 4,523m altitude 16,500 ft +. They did a fantastic job and if you are there, the choices are not great. This hotel offered everything that on an expedition, you needed. Clean and comfortable - except sleep at this altitude is difficult. In a region of extreme beauty this is definitely somewhere to stay
