It wis with great sadness that I report that Simunye has all but closed dow.
We popped in for old times sake two weeks ago, and left heart-broken
There are no staff (only one really helpful chap who showed us around - Mboysi)
Allthough outdated this is still a good experience to have during your trip in south africa.
The people are really friendly and try to help you where they can.
The trip to the lodge is 20km bumpy sandway with great views.

After some problems finding the lodge (after turning off the main road (sign "Simunye Zulu Lodge 12 km") keep on driving on the unpaved road until you find find the next sign ("Simunye Zulu Lodge Departure Point"; behind a fence). This is the old pickup...More
We got an off-season rate of R1, 940 for the double room at Simunye lodge and thought it was really worthwhile. We stayed in a very spacious beehive hut, which had sort of an entrance area, a big comfortable bed and a very big bathroom...More
