This is a nice place. Big, comfortable rooms with a nice bed. Amazing breakfast with a lot of different choices. Very central in Henningsvær. Close to restaurants and bars. The service is nice too. I can definitely recommend it.
This hotel has two locations. The main one just before the last bridge when entering Henningsvaer and the other is smaller house with the more expensive rooms in the center of Henningsvaer. The rooms are upstairs, the cafe' and breakfast-room is downstairs. The rooms were renovated but everything seemed little 'home-made' with limited number of sockets for charging the phones, pc, etc. Not professionally done. There was a strange smell in the bathroom. The cleaning was average. Excellent breakfast and friendly and helpful staff but very overpriced 'as most of things in Henningsvaer'.
There’s some confusion about the name of our hotel — it was called Vertshus but owned by the nearby Arctic, so not sure about the branding. The place we stayed was in the centre of Henningsvær in an old building that was said to be recently renovated. The hotel has a very pleasant cafe downstairs which was where the very pleasant breakfast was served daily. Our ‘superior’ room was large, carpeted and clean. The room has a big tv with Netflix (great when the weather turns cold and wet, which it did), a very comfortable double bed with good linen, a couple of comfortable armchairs and kettle etc. It also has its own bathroom, which exuded an unfortunate, sulphuric odour suggesting problems with plumbing. The floor also flooded from the shower, which was a problem with design and its plumbing requirements. These issues would normally have me complaining, but the staff members were so lovely, helpful and friendly that I couldn’t work up more than a minor whinge. Add to that the fact that this hotel was considerably cheaper than its nearest rival and I have to admit, I’d probably just hold my nose and go back! Hopefully they will have sorted the problems by then!…
There are at least three buildings: One "downtown," one newer one just over the bridge leading out of town, and an older one next to the newer building. This would have been a five-star review except for our placement upstairs in the older, out-of-town building. That is a placement for agile guests who can easily carry their luggage up and down a staircase that would not meet building codes wherever building codes provide safety. We wound up in Henningsvaer because everything else was full when we made reservations. Yet Henningsvaer is a great destination with pleasant areas to explore, good cafes, small craft and souvenir shops, and friendly people throughout. The hotel breakfast, included in the price, is just fine. During dinner, there is an excellent server from Finland who clearly likes the town, the hotel, and her work.…
Seven newly renovated (2019) rooms are located above a ground floor bakery/restaurant in the heart of Henningsvaer. Room 201 is the largest (the largest room I've seen in Norway!). The only downside is that while it has a fantastic harbor view, it suffers from the unruly drunks partying late at night in front of the building. That is not the fault of the hotel, so just be sure to pack plenty of ear plugs or a noise machine if you are a light sleeper. The breakfast included is modest compared to its sister hotel outside of town, but more than adequate.
