Detailed Reviews
The resort is just of the Chaweng to lamai main road but you would not know it as you weave your way down through the peaceful gardens to the beach/restaurant area. Check in was simple and you got an email a couple of days before your visit we allowed you to check in online to quicken up the process. We were upgraded on arrival to a Superior villa which had recently been refurbished. a delightful room with clean tiled flooring throughout. Open planned shelving and hanging area wa different but not an issue. The d was very comfortable and when my wife asked for a softer pillow one was supplied without any issues. The bathroom was large with walking in shower with an electric shower. A very efficient air conditioning system , large TV although the picture on some channels was not great, a fridge, kettle and a safe and water was topped up everyday. Outside was a small patio but two arm chairs and a table and a large drying rack. The gardens were clean and well kept and everyday you could see the staff working on keeping the place clean and tidy. The restaurant was well run with ample smiley and helpful staff to sort out you needs. The prices in the restaurant were a little bit higher than outside but the view of the sea and beach while eating was worth paying the extra bit now and again. we had breakfast included, which was a buffet with fresh fruit, juices, tea/coffee, toast, cereals, croissants, eggs , a range of Thai foods but most of all some delightfully cooked crispy bacon for a bacon butty. The pool area was clean and the pool was of reasonable size. The beach had perfect white sand which led down to some clear waters where you could snorkel around some large rocky areas and see some colourful fish. Along the beach front there were a couple of nice restaurants which were slightly cheaper than ours but outside the resort there were plenty of restaurants to choose from, Silver Spoon, Me easy, Kerwins, Tac Tacos to name a few. We took the free bus from reception to Lamai on a couple of occasions and Lamai is a very busy resort we loads of eateries and shops. At check out time again all went smoothly, we asked for a taxi to be organised and this was done with little fuss and arrived well ahead of our scheduled departure time to the airport (always a worry if they are going to turn up if yo booked yourself with a local taxi company). Great stay and will come back

Pros: This hotel is in a great location. Silver beach is beautiful and, since we travelled during Covid-19, it was almost deserted. The sun loungers on the beach are ideally placed to enjoy what the location can offer.
The room is spacious with a good hot shower.
The breakfast is nice and comprehensive, if slightly expensive by Thai standards.
Cons: We stayed in a Sea-View Villa and while the room is fine overall, it is a little tired and cleanliness really could be improved.
We were told on arrival that our room would not be cleaned every day (with no explanation why). This wasn't too much of an issue but what we didn't realise was that water bottles, tea, coffee etc. would not be replaced every day either!
There was a problem with ants in the room and they seemed to get into everything. We also had a cockroach in the shower on one day but, as this was not a 'cleaning' day, we had to remove it ourselves.
Reception was only open between 9am-7pm which made checking out challenging. The staff at the desk were barely present and not very friendly when they were.
The staff in the restaurant were lovely, but the food was hugely overpriced. There are much better restaurants just outside the resort.

This trip had been arranged and paid for pre covid. Trying to contact Crystal Bay to change dates was incredibly difficult but they did accommodate (eventually) and we have just returned from a 9 night stay.
On arrival we were very surprised by our two bedroom bungalow. It was nothing like the pictures online. There is no storage for clothes apart from a small rail in each room with approx 6 coat hangers. This meant living out of our cases for the entire time. The bedrooms are quite spacious and reasonably clean. The mattress is very hard and is on a concrete base so can be uncomfortable. Housekeeping come every day and change towels etc. and top the fridge with one bottle of water per person per day. The bathrooms are basic but functional. There was an issue with water during our stay but it was rectified in about an hour. The air con worked in both bedrooms and was much needed.
We did notice some bungalows being painted (as this is the low season and therefore less guests). As others have mentioned the sun loungers, tables and chairs all look very tired and in need of updating. There is also a pool table and table tennis at the rear of the bar area and both have also seen better days!
The restaurant food wasn’t too bad. More expensive than restaurants on the main road, just a couple minutes walk from the resort. (Can highly recommend the Silver Spoon). We found all the waiters to be very friendly and helpful. We also spoke to the new Restaurant Manager, who is planning on changing the menu and making improvements in the near future.
The beach area is really lovely and the outlook fantastic. You can walk to Lamai in about 30 mins or take a taxi (which is 200 TBH). You don’t need to look for a taxi. There are drivers sat just outside the resort and the reception will organise one too.
We did enjoy our stay but the resort really could do with some updating. Some drawers in the bedrooms would be helpful too.

The hut was big, clean, spacious and airy. Good facilities in a pretty setting. I came with my husband and 2 small kids at the beginning of a month long trip. This was the first stop and a good way to ease us into travelling. Great location (beach bars/food, but best and cheapest food up
On the main road... authentic Thai) nice pool, great beach and beautiful local scenery and lots of excursions available. We loved the elephant sanctuary. Since we have moved on, I can see that this is quite a popular tourist destination and busy compared to areas slightly away from the easy to reach places. For me, however the main negative was the attitude of the staff. They were really quite rude, not friendly (which is unrepresentative of most welcoming Thai people we met) and resentful. I totally understand that tourism has a huge cost to their beautiful country, but there are also financial benefits. I think the resort owners need to look at making this balance work in the employees favour. So they are genuinely happy to be there. You can’t underestimate how much that feeling of resentment can impact on a holiday we have been saving up for for years! Over all good, but busy and sad staff!

I spent about 10 days at Crystal Bay Yacht Club and it honestly was not long enough. Mind you, I did stay on Samui during the 2020 pandemic when Thailand was lacking about 75% of its tourism, which highly impacted my stay here. The staff here is super friendly (especially the Burmese waiter at the restaurant), and arrangements (taxis, etc.) were convenient. The food at the restaurant is good and not too expensive. The pool is awesome and they have many places to relax on the edge of the beach. The bay itself is secluded and shallow–good for snorkeling–and activities such as beach massages, paddle boarding, and kayaking are available. The room itself is nothing special but the aircon gets cold and the bed is soft. The mirror/lighting isn't great if you're a girl trying to do makeup.

A very good property indeed, value for money. The room was very spacious, clean and had what you would expect in a hotel/resort. The hotel has a great beach access to it so we spent most of our time there and didn’t visit other beaches :) the resort’s restaurant was decent, the staffs were very humble and sweet and always with smiles. The location itself was good and not too far from other touristic spots so was convenient. The only downside was that the restaurant closes for food at around 5pm but it was fine as there were other places you could go to within walking distance and plus there is a 7-11 and Family Mart just a 5 mins walk ( or less ). Will happily come back to stay again.

+1
Stayed in the “Pool Villa” for about a week; going from beach to your own private pool is pretty sweet. Vista of the beach and Crystal Bay while in you own pool or lounging on your deck. His and her sinks, Shower only did not bother me. Pool pump stopped working one morning and was fully fixed by mid afternoon. Service level was very high throughout our stay. Staff relentlessly courteous and attentive. Room tidied clean ever day. Beach front restaurant was amazing; a sort of Thai-Euro fusion - a tired description but, the kitchen does an amazing job. It offers authentic Thai for the foodie in you or familiarity if that’s what you seek. Very reasonable cost for food. Rooms are at an incredible discount now (which is hardly surpassing in the circumstances) .

Our second time to Crystal Bay and we were sadly disappointed. We stayed in a hillside sea view room and the good thing was we had a nice view of the sea but some of the rooms had their view obstructed by untrimmed trees,
The room itself was dated and needs a big revamp, the towels and bath mats were thin and fraying. The cleaning ladies were lovely and did their best to keep the place clean. The room lacks storage space a a decent surface with charging points for electronic equipment. These rooms are not even up to Premier Inn standard.
The steps up to our room were concrete and they were badly broken and we had to be careful as to not catch our toes in them otherwise we could have fallen.
The breakfast was A la Carte, but it was the same every morning, The crossaints and pineapple juice / mango juice were the best part. The salt and pepper pots looked as though they had seen better days and shows a lack of care.
The day visitors seemed to have priority of the restaurant and pool area rather than the paying guests.
In the 10 days we stayed we never saw the Manager once.
Such a shame this hotel has been so neglected as it is in a great spot.

The location on the beach is nice, however the beach does get very crowded and the water felt a bit too warm and green. The location of the restaurant and bar on the beach is nice but it is very expensive, There are not much outside the hotel in the way of restaurants and bars so you need to get a taxi to Lamai to eat, shop etc
The garden villa was a nice size, it did have plumbing issue with the toilet.
Was just a hop step and jump to the beach front
Communication with this hotel prior to arriving was quite poor with reception not understanding our questions.
All in all it is a nice place in a nice location but definitely not upmarket, however this is reflected in the price, so that was great. As we did pay more than double this price at similar hotels
Go stay a few nights but that would be sufficient at this resort

We had a mixed experience.
We checked out after 4 nights we had 7.
### Pros:
1. **Beachfront Location**: We had a room right on the beach with a lovely view.
2. **Restaurant with a View**: Enjoyed the restaurant at the resort, even though the meals were priced higher.
3. **Nearby Convenience Store**: A Seven Eleven close by for essentials.
4. **Massage on the Beach**: Had a massage service available, although the experience wasn’t great.
5. **Beautiful Beach**: Despite the rocks and shallow water, the beach itself is beautiful and becomes more peaceful after day-trippers leave.
### Cons:
1. **Dated Facilities**: Both the room and the resort itself felt outdated.
2. **Unfriendly Staff**: Staff appeared uninterested and unfriendly.
3. **Poor Path Conditions**: Paths to the rooms are in bad condition, not suitable for those with mobility issues or parents with prams.
4. **Inconvenient Location**: Far from the main town, requiring a taxi ride (200 baht).
5. **Massage Experience**: Disturbing kids during the massage and staff seemed to find it amusing rather than addressing the issue.
6. **Rocky and Shallow Water**: Difficult to swim due to rocks and shallow water.
7. **Day Trippers and Noise**: The beach gets crowded and noisy with day trippers and children, although it improves later in the day.
8. **Higher Meal Prices**: Resort meal prices are higher compared to neighboring resorts.
9. **Poorly Lit Paths**: Paths are not well-lit at night, making it easy to trip or roll an ankle.
### Suggestions:
- **For Future Guests**: This resort may be better suited for budget travelers or backpackers who are looking for a beachfront location but are willing to compromise on amenities and service quality.
- **Accessibility**: Not recommended for those with mobility issues or families with young children in prams due to poor path conditions and steps.
- **Dining**: Consider dining at nearby resorts for better quality food at lower prices.
- **Night Safety**: Bring a torch for navigating the poorly lit paths at night.

The hotel is still there but currently closed like all of Thailand. We stayed in the Villas which are very nice and many have been modernised. There is a bar/restaurant on site a lovely swimming pool and plenty of sunbeds. Toilets are kept clean. The sea is beautiful. They provide free of charge a mini bus into Lamai 3 times a day (need to book at reception). There are plenty of roadside restaurants just outside the resort.
Yes to child friendly, but not loaded to do. Swimming pools and beach are primarily all there is to do. Lots of kids there when we stayed
Poor parking as far as I know.
Yes but there are local laundry services on the street outside which are half the price
