it’s location is good due to its closeness to Lamai strip and it’s directly on the beach but it could use some much needed renovations ... We had booked the Thai house and the room was big, clean and spacey which was perfect for the 4 of us.. the bathroom though could use a new shower curtain ( which was torn to bits) and a bit of a scrub on the tiles to remove the mold and a new shower head which was leaking. The breakfast is very minimal so we used to go to the nearby bakery each day to get some items to add. We met some clients who just went out for a more hearty breakfast but we just loved to have our coffee to the sound of the waves. The Thai food we ordered on the menu was lovely and fresh and their chicken nuggets are delicious ! My kids loved them! But we did find a piece of glass in a cup one day... The staff overall is lovely and kind although we were a bit put off at our arrival by a very rude and unfriendly lady at the reception but she was the only one who was unkind, everyone else was always smiling and helpful at all times. Overall our family had a good time and most of the guests were families with kids which gave it a lovely feeling ! But it’s safe to say the hotel definitely needs some renovation and a bit more care from the management who seems to be cutting costs... we come to Thailand every year but I doubt we will book there again.

Stayed for new year with friends and it was a bit of a let down. The staff were great but the place is showing signs of age and wasn’t worth the money we paid. The breakfast was rather odd as the latte machine took an age to brew a small cup and was always running out out of milk and beans. The egg station was nice but it ham floating in water or cold baked beans were the accompaniments. Also our friends had booked with breakfast and when they checked in were told it didn’t include and it wasn’t till I re read their booking email that it clearly stated breakfast was included and as a result they had to pay for their breakfast on their first morning. Also there was no welcome drink as our bookings said would be provided. The pool area was the worst and it was not cleaned. There were leftover food spills on the beds and tables and the pool was only cleaned after my husband asked for it to be cleaned as there was a lot of dirt at the bottom and floating on top. The room was basic and was not worth the $130 paid a night. The shower was an electric one at shoulder height, the bed was hard, the power sockets built into the bed side table were at such an angle that the adaptor and plug fell out and you had to continually ask for new beach towels. On New Years Eve nothing was advertised and when we asked we were told the bar would be open till midnight. When we returned at 10.30pm we discovered all was closed and the beach was its usual quiet place were no one ever seemed to be after sunset (Lamai was very unusual in this regard as everything seemed to happen on the road each night and NYE was no exception ie no bars on the beach). Overall we wouldn’t return to either Samui Sense hotel or Lamai beach. This was our 12th visit to Thailand and a let down unfortunately.

Hotel is in a great location . Lovely and quiet on an evening and morning for a sleep in ( unless staff sweeping up at 8am have a loud conversation! ). Food ordered was great as is the bar staff . Beach villa rooms tired and need some TLC restaurant seems to close early and the breakfast is appallingly poor . Pool wasn’t too clean until mentioned to a member of staff and they got out all the debris then ! Worth staying on a good deal avoid paying for breakfast.

I have stayed here 4 or 5 times now and while it is still a good hotel and I would come back again and recommend it to friends, it is starting to loose its edge. The restaurant opening time for breakfast is hit and miss and on this visit not once opened at the advertised 07:00; it can be anytime between 07:20 and 08:30. The selection of choices at breakfast has reduced as has the number of staff working at breakfast. The restaurant terrace area is not kept as clean as it should be. The beach area used to be groomed every morning; not any more. It appears the costs are being cut but so are previous standards. I stayed in a Superior Room which was okay but it is ready for a refresh. The resort used to be managed by an older lady with an iron rod (both staff and guests) but I have not seen her this trip. She would never have tolerated some of the things I mention above. Perhaps she has left and that is the problem?

I was a bit dubious of our trip here as we got a very good price on agoda for 2 rooms as we were travelling with our 15 year old Son. The hotel is a bit dated in places but gorgeous gardens and beautiful Thai style so lovely to walk through. The best thing about it is the location it was so good we didn’t hire a car as planned we could walk everywhere. There were sun loungers on the beach always available and it was quiet and relaxing compared to further up they were packed in like sardines. Our room was superior With a balcony - if you are travelling with older kids it’s perfect as when you book 2 rooms on agoda you get a special rate and there was an inter connecting door in the middle (it is 3rd floor no lift) the beds are hard but I asked for a mattress topper and it was sorted. We didn’t stay for breakfast - to be honest there was much better cheaper alternatives on your doorstep / we did have a few meals in the restaurant which were ok but nothing special. There’s a few beach bars and restaurants on the beach are better value. Overall for what we paid to stay here we were very happy and Would stay here again just for the fantastic location
