We had the most amazing stay at Banyan Tree Samui.
I had pre-requested for Villa I03 and was very happy that it was available. It is located high on the hill thus Horizon Hillcrest Villa. It had the most amazing views and incredible Sunrise in the morning. The villa is huge and plenty of space to move around, the pool is large enough to swim and great to relax by side to enjoy the view.
Oh, you have choice of pillow, choice of linen, choice of essential oils and even choice of Incense Stick !
We had ate at the main restaurants for breakfast and the food are plenty and food. The chef and staff are very nice and ensure we had all we need. We also did dinner at the Edge, although the food is good but their interpretation of the Chiang Mai Khao Soi is laughable. Dinner at Saffron was incredible, we had the Thai set dinner and there was plenty to eat, including 4 different kind of rice !
In the morning we went to beach, it is a bit rocky during low tides but you can borrow the flipper to wear. We had an enjoyable afternoon at the Spa, the Rainforest Experience was incredible. You must try !
Overall we had an amazing stay, the Guest Services were very good and instant response. Shoutout to Gigi our host for her good service and always smiling vibes ! There were some minor annoyances and she quickly resolved them !

We only stayed one night here because we wanted this hotel before our trip but then changed our minds but still wanted to see it. We felt absolutely welcome and in good hands at the hotel from the first moment. All staff were incredibly friendly, service-oriented and always with a smile at work. What was particularly impressive was how attentive and personal the service was – for example, our room number and even our coffee wishes were remembered.
We would particularly like to highlight our villa host Beauty, who delighted us with her warm nature and helpful tips. She was always available for us and gave us great recommendations, for example for traditional food, the night market, cheap opticians and beautiful scooter routes. Our trip was also our honeymoon, and the hotel has given us lots of beautiful attention, from towel swans and flowers on the bed to a white chocolate swan. Our pool villa was extremely spacious and was cleaned daily. The private pool was perfectly maintained, and the high-quality toiletries were replenished daily – a small but much appreciated gesture.
Breakfast was rich and varied, with fresh fruit and delicious pastries. Especially we also enjoyed our private dinner in the villa, where a staff member served us attentively and spoiled us with excellent food.
Another highlight was the included 60-minute massage for my husband and me. We had already experienced many massages, but these were exceptionally good – with an extremely high relaxation factor and noticeable benefits. Everything was very hygienic, and every care was taken to make us feel completely comfortable: from the room temperature to the volume of the music. We would like to especially thank our masseurs Massy and Ja, who have really done an extraordinary job here.

We recently stayed at the Banyan Tree in Koh Samui. While we had high expectations due to the Banyan Tree brand, we felt that this property fell short. I never like to write a poor review, but as someone who travels frequently and relies on reviews myself, I think it's important to provide an honest account of my experience.
While the hotel has some beautiful elements, it feels dated and in need of general resort maintenance. Our room was large and impressive at first impression, but closer inspection showed signs of wear, and the pools proximity to the main living area via a very thin ledge was attractive to look at, but not a well considered design for use.
I also noticed that many rooms lacked privacy due to the resort's configuration. Sitting at breakfast you look across at many rooms and see it's occupants wandering around in their robes or pjamas. I would not be happy with a room facing the The Edge resturant.
The resort is extremely hilly, making it nearly impossible to walk around. This forced us to use their buggy service, which felt restrictive as we had to call for a buggy every time we needed to go somewhere. You made sure you didn't forget your hat, book or sunscreen when you went to the pool, or that involved a 20 minute round trip!
We really enjoyed the private beach, where the water was absolutely clear and beautiful during our stay. The beachside restaurant, Sands was lovely, and we had numerous enjoyable lunches and dinners there. However, our experience at the flagship restaurant, Saffron, was terrible. The wait staff had too many tables to attend to, resulting in long waits. Our entree arrived before our first drink, which was a warm, poorly made lychee martini served in a big wine glass because they had 'run out of cocktail glasses.' Undrinkable. The food was very poor, with some items inedible. This sentiment was shared among neighboring tables. Although our server was lovely, she seemed embarrassed, and the overall offering was a disaster. I'm at a loss as to how others have found this restaurant acceptable.
Our room attendant was wonderful, attentive, and kind, but overall, the staff appeared poorly trained and not polished in service or presentation.
We would not stay here again.

As a Banyan Tree property, we take issues such as these very seriously and I have already shared these with our respective teams for their acknowledgement and appropriate action. Our guests are typically surprised to learn that our resort is 14 years old - having opened on 1 July, 2010 - and often give praise for the overall condition of our facilities. It is unfortunate that you did not feel the same. In order to maintain a high level of quality, we have a villa and public areas maintenance program in place that functions on both a quarterly and annual basis to rectify the damages caused by guest use and weather conditions as well as to provide preventative maintenance. Kindly note that our various villa types offer a range of views and privacy levels. Naturally, the scenic views from the villas on the hillside come with more exposure from various vantage points in the resort; however, there are a range of options that blend a tropical view with more foliage, face westwardly toward Lamai and are much less visible from the Lobby and The Edge or a wide selection of Deluxe Pool Villa locations which are nestled in our gardens and offer a higher level of privacy. As a result, our inventory truly caters to the preferences of all travelers depending on their priorities. Given the topography of our resort, buggy service is needed for the villas located higher on the hillside. However, we do encourage guests to walk within the resort to enjoy the sights and sounds of our natural setting, and many guests often choose to walk down, then take a buggy back up Typically, our guests give positive comments to our team of Bellmen for their prompt and efficient service, and I hope you felt the same for your various requests. I am thrilled that you found our private beach to be exceptional and that you were impressed with the clear, tranquil waters. I don't even know where to start... this place was paradise from start to finish and such a great memory.
When we arrived we felt like the most important people in the world, the staff treated us like royalty. Golf was our host and anything we required he was able to deliver this for us (my husband needed a nail cutter, Golf was able to ensure we had this immediately after asking).
We opted for the wellness package which did not disappoint. Every evening we were left with a night ritual with instructions which was a nice touch, Birkram the wellness manager was fantastic and delivered great sessions on sound yoga, gratitude and other classes. As part of the package we also experienced the rainforest spa and massages which did not disappoint - the rainforest spa was like nothing I've experienced before.
Housekeeping were amazing - our room was always clean to a high standard and they used to leave us lovely treats and presents whilst we were staying. Again this was such a lovely touch and made our visit more memorable.
Breakfast was included in our package and was very lovely! The staff and chefs were always attentive and the choice of food and beverages were epic.
The staff at the private beach were always on hand to ensure we had a sun lounger with a towel and would regularly provide us with cold water. Also there was a nice choice of water activities to partake in. Poon from The Edge restaurant would always deliver great customer service and with a big smile on their face so thank you for looking after us.
The Edge restaurant was very nice, we were lucky to experience the BBQ Buffet which was great value for money (make sure room is kept for the yummy desserts which were available). Also great service from James and Eng.
Overall it was the best experience of my life at the Banyan Tree and cannot wait to visit again!

Banyan Tree Koh Samui sets high standards - and consistently delivers a luxury holiday experience. Key to this (for us) is the perfect setting on the private bay with beautiful beach - where we spent much of our ten day holiday. Jate and his team were super attentive, managing the all important loungers and cabanas, with ready supply of towels and refreshing face sprays and chilled water. Our Deluxe Pool Villa (F-09) was - as requested - very secluded and quiet with wonderfully tall palm trees. No glimpse of the sea - which we might opt for next time, if we return. Breakfasts are amazing - fantastic fresh food - wonderful fruit - and staff who are ever cheerful and helpful. Meeting the perfectly named staff member called Peach was a daily delight! The only thing that could be improved is the range and quality of food offered at Sands and Saffron restaurants - disappointingly there is no fresh fish on the menus. We took taxis to nearby Lamai for fresh grilled and baked fish. We were fortunate to have the delightful and super professional Abby as our host. She is just brilliant! Other staff who stood out were Poom at Sands restaurant, fantastic spa masseurs Nee, May and Dao. It was a real treat to be there, enjoying Thai hospitality and sunshine, and a better than the rest hotel resort.

Property is tugged away from the main road after a long narrow street with many unassuming lots and businesses. The entrance is relatively inconspicuous like other resorts in the area. Guarded security is a plus. Once inside the resorts, it feels safe and insulated from the outside. Naturally, in and out of the facility would be a hike and could be exhausting.
Quiet and safe all over the resort ground. Golf carts were primary transportation for guests and staff. Ground was clean with lots of shades from trees and vegetations. Comfortable to walk about. Steep at places.
Beach and main pool areas were well kept and supported by a super attentive crews.
Spa was clean, organized with soft ambience. Staff was skilled and world class.
Villa was well kept. While maintained yet signs of dating were showing. Lighting, air conditioning, and water flow/pressure were wonderful. There had been a few power interruptions during our stay.
Limited access to the outside confined culinary experience. Eating at the 3 dining facilities was pretty much the only choices.
My biggest disappointment was my misguided expectation in seafood quality. Considering Samui is surrounded by water. I falsely thought fresh, sweet seafood can be found in such paradise, not so. Lobster, tiger pawns, oysters, scallops, squids, and fishes, flavorless and overcooked.
9-night stay to celebrate our 35th anniversary and my birthday. Dinner reservation made at Saffron, not one person congratulated us, really?
Anniversary cake was delivered to our villa on arrival rather than on our anniversary day. A simple fix would have been to ask the guest when it is the anniversary date. They had our email and number. On arrival, I gave the host the anniversary date and she made the dinner reservation at Saffron to celebrate, yet not a staff knew about it. It was a quiet anniversary and a memory that we won't forget. It is this sort of attentiveness will keep guests returning.

Our stay at Banyan Tree Samui was extraordinary. The room was spacious, elegantly designed, and featured a private infinity pool with breathtaking ocean views. Service was impeccable, with attentive and friendly staff who went above and beyond. Dining options were diverse and delicious, with stunning beachside settings. The resort's facilities, including a world-class spa and beautifully landscaped gardens, added to the experience.
The room was serviced twice a day by the maids who do a fantastic job of freshening up the rooms and doing the turn down in the evening - even adding candles and oils to make the room smell glorious upon your return.
Breakfast was very nice and a wide variety to choose from - from Asian inspired to western dishes there is something for everyone.
Would highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Samui.

We have been staying at Banyan Tree for 12 days now, with 3 more days to go! We are a family of three, consisting of two adults and an 11-year-old child.
Accommodation: We booked a Wellbeing Sanctuary Pool Villa and requested a private and quiet space, which the hotel kindly provided. The villa matches the pictures exactly, featuring three classic decorated rooms: a lounge, a bedroom, and a bathroom. All rooms are well-maintained and equipped with all the necessities.
Villa host: Our villa host, Golf, has been consistently responsive and supportive, addressing our needs promptly.
Cleaning: The cleaning staff does an excellent job, tidying the villa twice daily and anticipating our needs. Fantastic service!
Pool: The pool, of a decent size, is cleaned daily, and we also have access to a heated jacuzzi.
Gardens: The combination of maintained and natural foliage creates a harmonious environment. They preserve nature while maintaining a neat appearance.
Transportation: Given the hilly terrain, the hotel provides buggies. The service is efficient, striving to arrive promptly.
Beach: The beach is clean and secluded, with excellent service offering towels, water, and optional snorkelling equipment and water shoes. While the bay is rocky, it's to be expected and adds to its charm.
Dining: We frequented Saffron and Sands, finding the service excellent and the food satisfactory.
Breakfast: The breakfast options are varied and change daily, ensuring a pleasant dining experience.
Staff: The entire staff, from managers to frontline workers, are excellent professionals, exhibit hard work, politeness, and a willingness to assist, while they do this with dignity. The service is excellent and makes Banyan Tree a special place.
Conclusion: While not inexpensive, the value received surpasses the cost. The location and the excellent staff make the experience truly exceptional. Thank you!

Sounds amazing! I am not sure about the orijentation of your Villa, perhaps hotel staff would be best to ask, but most probably sunrise 🌅 will be visible. I am sure you will enjoy it ☀️
"Resort is set on a hill so you have to get buggies for most of the journies to and from your villa, especially if you are quite high up. These are free and readily available. "
