We arrived and everything looked quite dusty and drab on first impression of the hotel entrance. Rooms were ok but bit dated. Needs a revamp. Pools were green and we were informed that they have been that way for the past few months. So hot and we needed to swim. What a waste. Food wasn't good at the buffet dinner....

We spent 2 nights at this hotel. The food was great, their was free wifi in lobby, the grounds were beautiful. Our room was outstanding. The hotel was a short distance away from the Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve.

This place has single handedly tarnishing the Protea hotel brand for us. It was by far the worst hotel experience of our lives. The toilet didn't work properly. Aircon made so much noise we had to switch it off even though it was crazy hot. The first room had such a bad smell we had to change it, the second...

We stayed at this hotel during a recent Gate 1 tour. The hotel is nice with lush surroundings. The breakfast buffet was average, the room was average...but clean. The hotel is remote and quiet. It was OK for the price point.

We arrived late at night to this lovely lush hotel. It was a quick stopover with not much time to explore. Dinner buffet was amply supplied. Bed was restful, shower a God send! no mosquitos bothered me as I was slathered in Avon's Skin so Soft body oil. We picked up our equally stocked breakfast boxes and took off the...

It was so quiet. We only spent one night here but I would have liked more time here. It is very cute and secluded feeling property. I especially enjoyed the tree in the driveway area full of weaver birds. The birds are beautiful but I what drew me to the tree was the nests and the fact that the male...

This is a good hotel. The tiles are very slippery so be careful. Dinner was very good. Some dessert I had was great, I should have just eaten it. Wifi signal is ok for facebook. It's away from town so I feel stuck here.

The entrance to the hotel can be confusing if you, like me, follow an Apple Map, just follow the road sign that says "Umfolozi River Hotel" on the N2 and you will be fine, the road does become a short dirt road but nothing harzadous! The rooms we were allocated are grouped into a block of 4 separate rooms, we...

Stayed here with a Gate One tour and the staff was very friendly. Be cautious walking down stairs with moisture as they can be slick. The bathroom windows you can't exactly see through but you can make out silhouettes so that's a bit strange. Had a buffet here that was pretty good and the wifi was pretty solid. If you...

We stayed here one night during our Gate 1 tour of South Africa. It was located an easy drive from where we had a very good cruise on the St. Lucia Estuary and then it was not a very long drive the next morning to the excellent Hluhluwe–Imfolozi game reserve. Location aside, this is just an ok hotel. Nothing special....
