We went to Quinta da Comporta for 4 nights (Wednesday to sunday) and rented a private villa and a regular extra room.
The place is beautiful but the service is really poor. We had breakfast in the villa because of COVID-19 and in one of the days the brought bread that was out of date...
We asked to do the later check-out of the villa (we had asked that upon reservation but the hotel said that they only cound answer on arrival because of future reservations to that villa) but the resort charged us 400€ more to leave by 6pm istead of 12pm that day. This on a luxury hotel, where you pay what you pay per day, is not admissible.
There are better hotels and resort on this location, with much better service.

We have stayed here on 2 previous occasions and liked it however this time it didn't feel the same.
After we checked in my wife fancied a coffee and I felt like a nice cup of tea in our room. Plenty of coffee capsules but no tea bags, when I asked reception they sent 2 Tea bags around within 10 mins but with a charge of € 3: 50, this is the very first time I have had to pay for tea in my room in all the hotels I have ever stayed at.
The hotel was very quite so at breakfast I totally understand that the menu is limited, in this case very limited .... eggs! Poached or sunny side up with either crispy bacon OR mushrooms, I asked for 2 eggs sunny side up with crispy bacon and was told they had no bacon. How can you have bacon at 09:00?
The internet speed is good now at 50MBS but in future we will go back to Sublime Hotel.

Beautiful place, perfectly decorated situated in a privileged location facing the rice fields where the sun sets every evening. The rooms and beds are so big, we were delighted. Dinner was great, breakfast was ok, perhaps not 5/star worthy. The rooms need better sound proofing though. You'd think this is the number one priority when you build a hotel, but so many miss it again and again.

The service and staff were disastrous. Having been at other boutique hotels / 5-star resorts, this one has a long way to go. Room was not ready at check-in (yes, covid19, but then if you're open you need to keep your standards), they forgot to leave a bath mat, had to call for it, took 1h30 to arrive, room service knocked on our door even though I had the "no disturb" sign up (almost woke up my sleeping baby). No room service (unexpected), nothing in the mini bar (covid19 related? if so, please explain that to your guests). I had asked for food for my 1y old baby and they never provided it. Pool Towel service with cards is nonsense, I ended up with 2 towels and 4 cards at the end somehow - it does not work. Buggy service to and from car should exist at all times, not just for check in / check out. No shuttle service to the beach (why?) even though they told us on arrival there was a private beach just some minutes away... anyway, good intentions, but it's not there yet. I hope they solve it because the place is worth a high end service.

This was the second year on the row at the same hotel but a lot of bad surprises due to the lack of high standard and high class hotel management.
To start, we booked both bedrooms quite yearly and asked for a specific room orientation. This small request, done quite in advanced (4 months prior) was not done at the check in. No apologies were given either for their error or an explanation.
There was a general feeling of a lack of head managers in each department (front desk, restaurant either breakfast or dinner service, housekeeping).
We asked front desk, prior our arrival, for reservations in other restaurants outside the hotel. They were still trying to book at the time we arrived, and when they did, reservations were only done for a party of two, instead of four, that was we have asked before (we had given both room numbers, even if they didn't understand the 4 person request, the number of rooms should have been sufficient to understand).
As for the rooms, one of the beds had two huge and very noticeable stains in the top and bottom sheets when we did the check in. It is surprising housekeeping for a high standard hotel prepared the bed with sheets like those, but also that the room was not thoroughly seen by a housekeeper manager before letting us in. Another sheet had also a very noticeable hole on the side, we were already tired so we did not complain, but it was the sheets were not changed for the whole 10 day stay.
We can't say that the staff was not nice, but the lack of good managing was very apparent. At breakfast and dinner service after the main course, staff would disappear, or take to long for other requests, and we would be served by different people at the same service, because the ones starting with us would be serving the other side of the huge restaurant (giving evidence to the lack of management).
There were other simple requests that were not complied, as simple as saying that one of the dinners in the hotel was a birthday dinner, and having nothing prepared, not even a happy birthday on the desert we asked for. This request was done with the hotel reservation back in march, and because of previous surprises, we confirmed the day in particular with the front desk, at the restaurant with the restaurant hostess, and no one did anything until we asked the server. Very disappointing!
To add to these situations, we saw the head manager of the hotel criticizing twice, in front of us and other guests, quite rudely and with a lack of class his own employees. In all these situations there was never an explanation or an approach by the head manager to assure us and apologize that they understood all the mistakes and mishaps from their part and that they would try to fix for the better. It was just mistake after mistake in what should be a carefree vacation in a high standard hotel.
The hotel location is great and the scenery too, but for the price you pay, the service should correspond to a premium service. It is a pity such a beautiful hotel, so unique in Portugal has so many big problems in terms of management.

The hotel is very beautiful, but the service lacks very simple details which clearly pretends to be much more than it is. E.g. Received a form by e-mail before the check-in, like if you want to limit the housekeeping due to the covid, or if you have any food restrictions, typical information to avoid the need to go to the reception.
But the form is a piece of trash, because no one reads or does something about it!!

The surreal experience was on our last night that we booked a table for dinner on the restaurant, and when we were seated next to a smoky barbecue (2 feet distance to the next table and NOT 2 meters) and realised that there was a thematic barbecue night. (No one told us, and there was no information anywhere).
Some food started being throwed to our table and the restaurant waiters running back and forward doing their best to serve a bunch of people.
In that "amateur rodizio", I was served two times with squid/shrimp raw skews, at third time the guy finally served a cooked one. Since my wife was pregnant, simply was not capable to trust on the food at all. Just to say that the barbecue was being done on the dark on a home-style barbecue.
The room manager realised the situation and offered a bottle of wine and was convinced that was doing more than enough.
For me not exactly what I was looking for in the last night at the hotel and expecting a casual and relaxed environment including decent food!
Clearly, the organization and leadership doesn't exist, on a macdonald's you would find more people to serve you and a better management of the room.

Recommendation for the hotel but don't expect service of a 5* and skip the restaurant!

For the hotel management, your dinning room manager seems to be seated on past success if any!

The place looks good but it has no soul. I feels really impersonal - it suggests it is a wellness centre they just offer a yoga class free which for us was cancelled at 8pm the night before! They suggest free bikes, but actually didn't have enough bikes and we had to wait an hour.
the room cleaning is definitely not to standard and hairs from previous guests were left in the bathroom, crockery and glasses not cleaned properly
music around the pool and restaurant are appalling
the staff don't seem to remember who guests are even when not full to capacity
really not worth the money - shame as the place has potential but I can imagine will become a cheap run down package hotel soon...

The grounds and rooms are beautiful, styled in the familiar Comporta design. I travelled with a group and we stayed in a mix of rooms & one villa. This was my second stay (once during off season so I decided to give it another chance). Normally prefer to provide feedback directly to a hotel but no one responded to my email sent in April, even though I was booked to return in June.

TLDR: just stay at Sublime down the road for impeccable service & consistently good food at a similar price point.

As noted in several other reviews, the food is mediocre at best (including breakfast), with better options nearby (5Sentidos next door or restaurants in Comporta village). The service is offensively poor for a SLH property, including overall speed to achieve anything from coffee to a query response and lack of personalisation or any proactive effort to ensure a pleasant/comfortable experience. Daily cleaning service was little more than making the bed; we even needed to request towels and toilet paper! There was no turn down service and on arrival, a very sad packet of sliced cheese & turkey ham was provided as a welcome charcuterie board for the villa, which is their highest category stay offering.

For a wellness resort, there are only a handful of yoga/pilates classes offered during the week (at a cost) and a detox juice at breakfast. The gym is small but efficient; note that given the design, it gets very warm. The instructor actually never showed up for the private group yoga class I scheduled. Upside, the spa treatments were nice and the pool is lovely.

Perhaps a small thing but also a bit shameful that every amenity comes at a cost: want a coffee 20 minutes after breakfast ends, a golf cart ride to the beach or to use one of the bikes? Expect to find it on your bill.

Disappointing stays for such a promising property. At no point did I feel welcomed or like the staff even cared about my experience, would not return.

Photos of restaurant and view from villa.

Quinta da Comporta is definitely “A Small Luxury Hotel of The World”. My husband and I stayed only one night as we extended our trip in Comporta and there was thankfully no more room in our previous lovely hotel. We were very grateful that Quinta da Comporta made an exception allowing us to stay one night only. We regret we had to leave. We loved this hotel for its location, décor, spa and restaurant all designed by Portugal’s renowned architect Miguel Cancio Martins.

The location of the hotel is perfect for everything especially the beaches. With the gorgeous beaches so close you want to spend all your time on the beach but are conflicted because the hotel is so pleasant and there are other activities to doing the area. What struck me first was the decoration and design of the room and common areas the spa and yoga studio. I could not help but take pictures of the authentic buildings, doorways, furniture, shower rooms with a view of a private, small, charming, enclosed garden. We reserved the double room and were very pleased. The layout was very interesting and it felt very spacious.

Having breakfast on the restaurant’s terrace overlooking the rice fields was divine. Yoga class in its special open structure was heavenly. A special mention to Claudia from the Spa. She, without prompting, discovered I had a problem with my shoulders and asked to if she could spend an additional 25 minutes with me. Something a masseuse missed just days before and has been causing me lots of trouble. She is a extremely knowledgeable professional.

We will definitely return to Quinta da Comporta.

This is not really a hotel. It is a sort of holiday camp. If you do NOT want service, smiles and atmosphere this is the place for you. It is a sad a very unfinnished place. We thought we were going to a luxery spa- its closed as is the swimming pool we were promised. The breakfast was at best mediocre- industrial orange juice in Portugal for 295 euros a night bed and breakfast!! The rooms are comfortable but here are lights evrywhere so it is difficult to sleep. I strongly recommend you stay away from this rip off establishment.

At first sight a lovely place . Beautiful architecture in harmony with the nature. A beautiful pool perfect for instragramers, very photogenic with a beautiful sunset behind the rice fields. But don’t try to spendthe whole day by the pool. The place is windy very wind , you can not choose to be under the shadow in case sun is too hot and above all yes we are in the middle of a rice field so do not try to take a nap by the pool the flies and mosquitoes around you will not allow you to sleep.
But that’s still the best thing at this place, it’s pool.
I do travel a lot and usually don’t write reviews but this time I have to say NO . Not again, ever .
4 stars and 500€ a night, so you expect a little more than a view. I guess they are trying, but no guys you are not there yet : SERVICE 😤 big problem. There’s no service. No room service that’s perhaps a choice but... water please ! One afternoon no water not even to take a shower 😤 once I was able to take the first shower of the day I had to call reception to get 1 towel ! Yes there was no towels available in the room. A mistake? It shouldn’t happen! Be patient to order breakfast, dinner or whatever. And do not forget to reserve a table for dinner it’s mandatory even though the restaurant is empty. Do not forget to say the night before what time you’ll wake up next morning and have your breakfast, yes you have to book it . Nice for a vacation time !
We are in comporta but the hotel do not have a beach club . So you have to book somewhere else , cross your fingers to find a place and be ready to pay at least 70€ more (500€ a night I remind you)if you want to lie on the beach under a umbrella...
I could go on but I just spent too much of my time in this worthless place .
OVERRATED. You have still a long way to go before being a good hotel.
