There are truly no words to describe how lovely and special this former convent, now a small hotel is and more important, the exquisite hospitality of the charming owners, as well as the excellent service that their daughter Marianna gives to guests as if we had been friends of the family for a long time. We did eventually go feeling very relaxed and rested, and we look forward to returning in the fall to enjoy more of this very unique place. This is not a hotel where you go to use Wi-Fi (even though you can get it in some areas) but instead you go just to be in a serene, comfortable and elegant place where you feel as if you were in your own home. We were almost unsure whether to recommend it as we wanted to keep the convent to ourselves, but in the end it is important to let people know that... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Convent of St. Bartolomeo Historical Estate in Tuscany A detailed renewal of the 14th century Franciscan estate brought the Saint Bartolomeo’s Convent back to its ancient splendour. This is all thanks to the owner, Prof. Vittorino Ricci Barbini, known urologist, who has decided to open up his own childhood house to visitors and guests.Within the Convent it’s possible to feel the magic of a“historical” house. ... more   less

“Rooms toward the back garden are quieter, and the suites are larger. There are double windows in all the rooms so even the rooms in the front of the convent which face toward the main road, when they are closed have minimal noise. See their website for room information.”
