Tropical Islands hotel has garnered mixed reviews, with many guests appreciating its promising location but noting the high costs that do not seem to align with the level of service provided. While the hotel's indoor rainforest and family-friendly amenities are often praised, visitors have experienced issues with cleanliness, room maintenance, and additional fees for activities.
Service has been described as lackluster, with reports of long waits and disorganization. Despite cozy furnishings, the absence of reading lamps and a seemingly negative work environment have been points of contention for some guests.

From the moment we arrived at Tropical Islands, we felt like we had been teleported straight to the Caribbean. The atmosphere is breathtaking, with the highlight being an indoor rainforest that offers a fascinating world of its own both during the day and at night. The pools with their sandy beaches are equally impressive and give a real holiday feeling.
The waiting times were acceptable for most activities, but there were longer waiting times for the changing rooms, which became a bit of a test of patience on arrival. The cleanliness of the complex was largely exemplary, although the sanitary areas could do with a little more attention.
Our room was ideally located between the South Sea beach and the food court. It was very quiet at night and we particularly liked the attention to detail in the design.
In terms of cuisine, Tropical Islands offers an astonishingly good quality and variety that clearly exceeded our expectations for a theme park. The prices are comparable to other leisure activities and are generally reasonable, with particular mention of the drinks in the bars and the frozen yogurt, which are definitely worth the money.
The staff had a mixed experience: while half did their job with enthusiasm and friendliness, the other half seemed to be going about their business by the book, which was also reflected in their unfriendliness.
An overnight stay at Tropical Islands is an absolute must, as it significantly enhances the experience compared to a day visit and gives a unique holiday feeling.
For future visitors, I recommend exploring the rainforest both during the day and at night, and taking the opportunity to stay overnight to enjoy the full experience. It would be desirable if the resort improved smaller amenities for hotel guests, such as a guaranteed changing room on arrival and exclusive lounging areas.
Overall, Tropical Islands offers an unforgettable experience that should not be missed. Despite minor criticisms, it is a wonderful destination for anyone longing for a tropical getaway.

Spent 2 days here during the May holidays. We had a house (sunrise home). The house was fine, clean and everything you need was available. 2 bathrooms with a nice shower. There is also a set of towels ready and that is sufficient for 2 days. Beds are a bit firm, but after a whole day of swimming you sleep well. The house has no air conditioning. Take a crate of food and drinks with you, because then you are not dependent on always eating at tropical islands. We had lunch there once, which was not very special. Tropical islands should not only be seen as a swimming paradise. There is much more to do. There is a sauna and spa area (unclothed) you can also go here, that is also included in your booking with a sunrise home standard. There are also infusions there several times a day. The facilities here are also excellent, unfortunately no swimming pool in this part. It is very busy at certain times of the day. Then there are indeed long lines. But the staff is generally very polite and friendly, they also speak excellent English. As for hygiene on tropical islands, people try very hard to keep it tidy. There are clean toilets everywhere, the toilets at the Sudsee do not smell clean. Furthermore, I would advise you to come in the morning so that there is still room. Slides, white water slide, shops, etc. are open between 10:00 AM and 8:00 PM. The 2 indoor pools are open 24/7. So you can also enjoy a nice swim later in the evening with beautiful lighting.

We were there as a family and after reading the reviews I was quite skeptical. Check-in went smoothly. Unfortunately, the floor in our cottage was not clean on arrival, but since it was late in the evening and a broom was there, we quickly swept ourselves and the theme was eaten. We stayed at Woodland Home for 4 people. The kitchen in the house is fully equipped with crockery, cutlery, pots and pans, so we could have relaxed and inexpensive breakfast and dinner. There is a rewe nearby where you can get groceries and a kiosk where everything necessary is also there at normal prices. The pizza machine on the premises is also great and convenient for evenings when you don't want to cook. Tropical Island offers more than enough variety for young and old. It took us 3 days to explore all areas. Sauna area is really great with lots of saunas, every hour there's infusion and the relaxation areas are clean and welcoming. The prices in restaurants are not cheap, but also not excessive. We found the restaurant on the South Seas very good and even kid portions were really huge. Many bring drinks despite the ban, nobody checked it. Just don't walk around with your own bottles open. We were out of school holidays therefore it was not super crowded and there were always free loungers. In the cold/non-sunny days I recommend to bring a bathrobe, as it is quite fresh. But when the sun shines it is really warm and pleasant there.

We have been coming to Tropical Islands for more than 10 years, now for several days: But again this time we were horrified by what we thought had been an extremely rapid decline in service for about 4 years and by the brazen rip-off at every corner. Our room we felt dirty, empty bathroom containers, safe broken, mold in the shower. Heating lukewarm. Complaint at reception and immediate mail to the so-called “Management”, of course, remained without any resonance. In addition: The exterior-connected hotel is probably the only 4-star hotel in the world where no cleaning lady comes for several days, not even to empty the trash can. At the inquest, it was said that this was just the way it was. Next step: Construction sites everywhere; saunas, whirlpool sometimes temporarily closed, sauna infusions massively exposed, allegedly due to lack of staff: But the up to 250 euros per night are then gladly taken away. Showers while swimming: closed. You can only get into the water with a jump, since stairs into the pool: closed. Free lounger? With luck, perhaps! Parking in front per started day (not per night) outrageous 7 euros. Towels, bathrobes etc. have been costing a high rental fee for several years. Breakfast was actually even worse, even cheaper, even more limited this year according to our perception. Evening buffet a whopping 30 euros for what we think is a very narrow, not particularly high-quality offer. Drinks super expensive, even from the vending machine costs small bottle of Coke an exorbitant 5.15 euros. All in all: In our opinion, this is all about money, pure rip-offs. The system is drained to the last, the customer, we feel, is reduced to a milking cow, with which one simply wants nothing else to do. Bye, bye, bye, bye-bye, off to Mallorca for the same money!

We arrived yesterday. At the reception we were received unfriendly. When the check in then worked you had to ask additionally at the reception how it goes to the "OHANA". It was then declared unkind. The room reached 6501 we could not believe it. A disabled room. We did not dare to ask the reception if the room is to be exchanged. Apart from that, the room was dirty and still smells from the drain pipes. Then the shock in the spa area. It is not separated from the other areas. Children are left outside when taking a sauna. There are no reading lamps on the couches and at the same time it is pointed out that you should omit the phone (for reading the book).
The food, an oven potato, was kept warm until you could tap nails into the walls
Everything is completely overpriced.
We're not coming back.

The last memory I have of tropical island was in 2012 and it was great then. Somehow then I did not feel so much the language barrier and the lack of help from the staff. Let's start with the arrival. Check in on line did not work very well - I entered our family details 3 times and still the system showed the status that I had to check in. We had a room booked at Ohana, where yes there was access but nowhere was it written that to get there you had to already have a wrist band, which was only available at the main reception. So we had to put the luggage back in the car to go to the main reception. The parking although we arrived for 2 days was also charged. At the main reception when the lady heard the English language, she took a mouthful of water and almost by sign and drawing on the map showed where we had a room, where breakfast etc.. She did not mention that on the wrist bands there is a limit of 250 Euros beyond which it is necessary to go to pay in order to be able to continue to use the bracelet. The room was missing shower gel and soap and despite reporting it twice, we were not replenished the next evening. In the building Ohana notoriously did not work the second lift so it was necessary to go with everything to swimming by stairs. In addition, often we could not pay out tokens for children's games or play with ships. In the reception at the playground we were advised to go to the main information desk, where two ladies said that everything works there and if it does not work for us, it is difficult - they do not know how to help us. It was not until the second time in the shop at the playground that we met a lady who spoke Polish, English and German and who informed us that the yellow token machines work 3 minutes after the last transaction so you have to wait - finally the right person. I know that Germans have order and rules everywhere but unfortunately this place contradicts this a bit. It seems that the heyday of this place is over.

Unfortunately, on our third visit to the hall since 2018, we noticed a significant deterioration in the hygienic conditions. The opening times of the slides and the outdoor area had also been reduced to 6:45 p.m., probably to save costs. It was much colder in the hall than before. There is a shortage of staff everywhere. The next day, the guests' leftover food from the previous day was still on the sun deck. The entire hall was also not clean, with tissues, tampons and plasters on the floor. The Sunrise House is OK, but the room layout is very inconvenient. The kitchen is practically the hallway to the bedrooms and bathroom. If the dishwasher is open, the passage is blocked. The kitchen equipment is also sparse. Too few glasses, no potholders, salad bowls or bread basket. The doorknob was missing from the children's bedroom, the screw was sticking out. The single beds are very narrow. The dining table has to be pushed back and forth from the wall for 6 people. Through the panoramic window you can look directly into the living room of the neighbors in the semi-detached house. There is no parking space directly at the house, you can unload your things and then have to look for a parking space in the resort. The parking spaces at the hall cost an additional 6 euros per day. The changing rooms are getting old, mine couldn't be closed.
Conclusion: Still nice, but if the quality continues to decline like this, you should look for an alternative.

The complex is large, spacious and attractively designed. There is a lot to discover. The rainforest with exotic birds that roam freely is a special feature.
Unfortunately, our stay over the Christmas holidays was not particularly pleasant, as we have several points to complain about: - When checking in at reception, the employee forgot to give us the vouchers for the evening meal that we had booked and already paid for. As a result, we were turned away from the evening buffet and had to walk all the way back to reception, explain ourselves at reception and then go back to the evening buffet. We lost about 30 minutes of time as a result and missed the sauna infusion that we wanted to go to. - The same employee also told us that we would get a lock for our tent at the information desk. At the information desk we were told to go through the turnstile first and then come to the information desk from the other side. There we got in line, only to be told that the locks are not available at the information desk, but at the baggage claim and that they are only available from 3 p.m. That cost us another 30 minutes of wasted time. - The refill stations for the drinks cups are a good idea, but unfortunately popular drinks like Fuze Tea run out quickly at many stations. - You have to make the mattresses in the tents yourself - no problem! But unfortunately my mattress had a sheet for a child's mattress on it and was much too short! (see photo) - 2 of 3 charging stations had a technical defect in the cash register system and were unusable. - Unfortunately, dirty corners with rubbish were seen more often. It could be that there are not enough employees (but more guests) over the holidays to properly maintain the entire facility. - This was particularly noticeable in the toilets. They were only cleaned 5 times a day instead of the usual 6 times. In addition, some of the cabins were locked without anyone using them. So the remaining cabins were more frequently used, which was unfortunately more than evident in the hygienic condition. Example: In the tent village, 3 of 5 cubicles in the women's toilets were open, one of which was so dirty that everyone immediately stumbled out backwards. That was between 6 and 7 a.m., leaving only 2 toilets for all the females in the entire tent village. - This pattern continues in the children's playground. Actually a nice facility that invites you to climb. But unfortunately, here too, some areas were cordoned off, where nothing but rubbish and dirt accumulated. Even on the outside of the slide tubes there was a thick layer of fluffy dust, as if it hadn't been cleaned for a year. Very disgusting. - But the cockroaches that come out at dusk are particularly disgusting. Not just one, but in several places: at the lagoon, at the food court, by the tents. (see picture) We hope we didn't bring any home... - All in all, much too expensive for the poor service and the hygienic condition. The other staff were very friendly and helpful, though.

This was a huge disappointment . You think that when visiting the world's largest indoor water park you encounter an eldorado of water slides. There are only 4 large slides for children over 8 years and upwards. Incredibly tired and barely speed in the slides. A crowded and overpriced place. We had paid for “all inclusive” food and a cup where you could fill drinks every 45 minutes. The shower was completely drained and had no taste. When it comes to the food, it was the same cheese that lay out all day. One expects much more selection at the water-threatening price they take for this. Shift rooms were full of hair and garbage. We will never go here again nor recommend this place to anyone else.

The entire complex is very old and in many places in need of renovation. There is a lack of attention to detail.
We didn't see any employees who seemed happy and friendly. Many were grumpy at work and listless. Some were also very unfriendly. However, the most outrageous treatment we received was from the lady who worked at the bar in the Singapore Tree Restaurant. She did everything she could to make sure we didn't consume ANYTHING and left again as quickly as possible.
The sauna and spa area is also completely unusable. The noise there is almost unbearable and makes it impossible to relax or unwind!
The entire area was dirty in many places and the changing room was disgustingly dirty in the evening (see picture). It would help to wipe down here every now and then (even during the day)... However, we never saw any cleaning staff. For example, the receipts from the payment machines were lying on the floor for hours and nobody cared about them...
As for the prices... €5.15 or €4.90 for a 0.5l bottle of Coke from the machine is pretty steep for a family resort!
All in all, a sad experience that I don't need to repeat.
