Our standard choice in the area would be Wilderness Safari's Savuti Camp, but they couldn't accommodate us on the dates we needed and hence chose Duma Tau. Generally we would avoid the larger camps, but Duma Tau was spectacular. The food, staff, guides were excellent, the GM's presence and influence very visible and active. The game and positioning of the... More

We stayed 3 nights at the beautiful Duma Tau camp and couldn't have enjoyed it more. We were met at the airstrip by Johan, the GM of the camp, who provided us with ice cold water before making the short trip to the camp. There we met many of the great staff who looked after us so well over the... More

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the camp staff including a cool refreshing drink and moist hand towel while listening to a welcome song sung for us! The food was both plentiful and very good. This included early breakfast with an assortment of fresh pastries, cereals, yogurt, fruit, eggs made to order, bacon, sausage and pancakes.... More

Our guide took us places so close to the animas we didnt need a zoom lens. We stayed 3 nights and the last was as good as the first.

Spent three nights in late March to close out a 3 week business trip in Southern Africa. Duma Tau came highly recommended, creating high expectations that were consistently surpassed. Wonderful facilities, but it is the staff at Duma Tau who made this experience unforgettable. We spent 3 nights in late February and absolutely loved it. Our flight in from Kasane airport set the tone, which was spectacular with the pilot ‘diverting’ from route to follow the chobe river for a bit and offering sightings of herds of buffalo and elephant from quite low. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Perhaps the best game viewing in far northern Botswana - from its newest and most stylish camp. DumaTau means "roar of the lion," but the elephant reigns here. The camp is set on a lagoon on the Linyanti River between two "elephant highways," affording unparalleled viewing of these iconic mammals, along with other wildlife. Together with sweeping, dramatic views of the river, the architecture of the camp expresses the explorer aesthetic, as well as the idea of space. There is an airy dining and lounge area, and a pool, all taking advantage of the superb view of the lagoon. Highlights DumaTau is located close to the source of the Savute Channel, with access to the Linyanti Swamps, floodplains and extensive mopane woodlands, thus offering an excellent combination of land and river. During winter, large elephant herds traverse the area. Chances of viewing leopard, lion and wild dog are excellent, along with other large mammals like hippo, red lechwe, giraffe, waterbuck, kudu, impala and occasional buffalo. 10 Tents (including 2 Family Tents): Rebuilt 2012; en-suite; spacious; raised off the ground; clear-storey window; 100% solar powered Experiences: Day and night game drives • Nature walks (on request) • Boating and barge (seasonal) • Game viewing hides • Catch-and-release fishing (seasonal) ... more   less
