We decided the get out of Bangkok for a few days and since I have not been to Samui for many years it was an ideal opportunity to re visit this tropical island. We selected this Resort on recommendations of friends and we were not disappointed at all. The welcome was friendly and warm greeted by the Staff and The General Manager Khun Werner and our large villa facing the pool and beyond the see was perfect. It was well appointed with even an Nespresso machine a fully stocked minibar and all the amenities you expect in a Resort. The Bath towels are the best I have ever received in a hotel, so thick and fluffy, just amazing. The resort is very well maintained, the pool clean and the beach front tidy and ready set up with sunbeds. The nearby hotel restaurant offers a large selection of Thai and Western dishes and the Service Staff and the Kitchen staff are very accommodating to adjust a dish to your liking! The food was delicious and we we also enjoyed the large Breakfast selection, especially the home made Mango Jam which was delicious! The room was made up daily and another thing I want to mention is the many power and USB plugs available in the room which makes it easy to charge phone and other devices. We also enjoyed the Spa treatments, one of the best massage i ever received outdoor near the pool. All in all wonderful facilities, great staff and a very relaxing 3 nights to recharge our batteries. We will be back! EB

Lovely hotel. Booked a beachfront villa of which there are only two. Only way to go. We had our own stretch of private beach and direct access to the sea along with our own sunbeds. Room was a good size with nice bathroom and comfy bed.
Food was very good and the staff charming if a little slow sometimes.
There was a small sala at the front door where housekeeping left clean beach towels and flowers. Housekeeping excellent.
Only reason we would not return is the area. Impossible to get across the road to the shop. Pavements when you found one was broken and open sewers. Sea was a funny green colour and when we walked along the beach found lots of tributaries running into the sea which were not very clean to say the least.
This area along with others in Koh Samui need some serious investment in infrastructure and sewage.
A couple of bars along beach which you could access when tide out, had a good stay and would like to return if the area cleaned up a bit,

Response from Werner Meinlschmidt, General Manager at Paradise Beach Resort
Responded 16 Mar 2020
Dear Louisa, Thank you for your very extensive review outlining all aspects of our property and the Maenam area. As you probably noticed, the roads in Samui are going through construction and the local municipality is working on a solution for the points you mentioned above. The sea water depends on the weather on our beach, and the area is normally quite quiet with not a lot of waves, so the green that you saw was likely seaweed that had been undisturbed and settling. Happy to read that overall the property brought you comfort and relaxation and that you noticed the little details in our attentive services. We hope that you'll at least stop in on your next trip to Koh Samui, and hopefully reconsider staying with us again. We would be more than happy to provide you with another relaxing getaway on our secluded beach. Warm Regards, Werner Meinlschmidt & the Paradise Beach Resort team

We have just spent 10 days in this hotel with Private Voyage, I mention this because I don't think we would have chosen it on our own.

Here's how we would rate the hotel:

Location: 3/5
Located 6 minutes from Fisherman's village by shuttle (50 baht per person, be careful returning on your own and a slew of taxis waiting with fixed prices of 400 baht), you can return on foot in 40 minutes, which is what we did Everytime.
Less than 10 minutes walk from the main road, you will find a small street food market, restaurants, pharmacy, Seven Eleven and massage parlors.
You should know that the beach is almost non-existent due to the tides, which is a shame if, like me, you like long walks on the beach.

Staff/service: 5/5
It must be emphasized that they are by far the best staff we have had.
Maintenance in the rooms and perfect restocking of towels and convenience items.
Restaurant service more than perfect: very attentive and helpful staff, they observe everything and anticipate possible needs.
Very decent breakfasts.
Excellent meals taken on site, exquisite flavors.

The room: 3/5
A little dated, the furniture is no longer very young (the blinds did not work and we did not dare to force them), the bedding is very hard but we slept well despite everything, there is no pressure to water, really none, we therefore spend a long time in the shower. If this is desired, it is not the best calculation. But

In short, we arrived late the first evening and in the rain, not a soul in the tiny lobby or anywhere else. Once in the room there was a colony of mosquitoes that took a long time to kill! A socket with 2 recharges was in the room, fortunately, but a bit rustic system. Our first impression was therefore rather negative.
BUT
Very quickly we felt good there. The hotel was very lightly occupied during our stay and we were quick to recognize faces and get our bearings.
Very calm atmosphere, sometimes a little music but discreet. If you come to relax, and that was our case, this is the ideal place.
The park is really beautiful with a wide variety of trees, the seaside swimming pool and the beach under the coconut trees are very pretty and pleasant.

Note the presence in the hotel of a tailor, Dev Tailor, to whom we had 2 suits and a pantsuit made and we were very satisfied. Despite the language barrier, we managed to understand each other and he provided very good advice.

We stayed there for 11 nights, the only nice thing about the hotel was the beach, private, clean, otherwise not recommended, the cleaning staff did not do their job well at all, they only cleaned roughly, the bed linen was only changed once, in the bathroom only the sink was cleaned, nothing else, the floor was only swept in the middle (dry) and we always had sand in our bed. The house cats (mother with 3 small babies) meowed in front of the door at 5 a.m., you couldn't just open the door and go out without tripping over the cats. I had back pain and headaches every morning because the mattress and pillow were not good. The kettle was rusty, there were no fresh cups in the room, they charged me for things in the minibar that I didn't eat, they wanted to book the upgrade twice even though I had already paid. In other words, I will never go back to this hotel. Only the restaurant staff were always friendly and did a great job.

Very safe and accommodating, breakfast served at our bungalow. Ordered a day in advance. A clean sand beach, great views from our room. Really great sunsets. Manager was very helpful in renting a scooter, and in finding good local restaurants. He even drove us to our next reserved hotel. There are 94 rooms, so the property is large. There is a wheelchair for guests with problems. They do have a book exchange. Our room had everything we needed, even wine glasses and wine opener. There are neighboring restaurants for more selection.

Price: Very reasonable

Location: Away from night life and crowds. Secluded area and need push bike or scooter to go to the closest 7-11. the hotel is about 10 minutes drive to Fisherman’s Village and 23 minutes to Central Samui in Chaweng Beach.

Room: Spacious and clean. It’s fully equipped with electric mosquitoes repellent. The restaurant’s foods were amazing and buffet breakfast have enough varieties to choose from.

Facilities: on-site restaurant with waterfront view. Shuttle bus daily in the afternoon to Fisherman’s Village and Central Samui at extra cost.

Very nice 6-night stay at this resort in Koh Samui.
Quite far from the city center, around 15/20 minutes from the main night market and the fisherman's village, I therefore advise you to rent a scooter type vehicle.
Location and equipment that met our expectations. One of the two swimming pools has a sea view and direct access to the beach. The staff was pleasant enough and the rooms could be made up even early in the afternoon, which is nice for late risers. Small downside for the massages that you have to book 48 hours in advance, which we didn't do... The breakfast is of good quality and very varied (like in all the hotels we were lucky enough to have to do in Thailand). I highly recommend this establishment for a relaxing stay with family, alone or as a couple.

We stayed for 10 days over Jan/Feb and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. It’s a beautiful peaceful retreat with lovely beachfront restaurant. The breakfast was worth adding, a really good selection of everything you could possibly want served on the beachfront. They also served lunch and a nice dinner menu. The rooms are large with nice bathroom with walk-in shower. Our room was on the upper floor with a balcony and view of the forest garden. Rooms were refreshed daily and the staff were really friendly and helpful. We took several excursions including boat trips to Koh Taw and Koh Madsum the elephant sanctuary and an island temples tour. All can be booked at the reception with the helpful tours lady. You can walk to restaurants and bars along the beach (tides permitting) sometimes the water is quite high, when we visited mostly you could access the closest restaurants. Treehouse is excellent and not too far. There is also a supermarket on the main road ( 10 min walk ) Jin restaurant ( inland) is a great spot for dinner if the tides up. The 2 swimming pools are well kept and clean and there were plenty of sun loungers. We were looking for a quiet retreat as my husband was recovering from a broken arm and it certainly delivered. The resort is well away from the traffic of the island ring road and we really felt we were in a tropical forest and enjoyed the bird life and squirrels in the gardens. Definitely recommend.

We loved this hotel. We were upgraded from a standard garden view villa to a delux villa, walking just a few steps onto the beach. The front of the hotel is decpetive as it looks small, but everything is set around the back. The staff could not help you enough, the lady on the Tour trips helped us an entire morning booking our next hotel in Koh Lipe, she rang the hotel, booked all the transfers etc. This is not part of her job but she still done it!

Our villa was just beautiful. Can't fault it at all. The beach is lovely golden sand. The food is delicous with veggie options.

Eating overlooking the sea is the best way to start and end your day. They have daily shuttles at 5pm and 6pm (one way only) at a cost of 100 BHT (about £2) per person to the Fishermans Village (full of food and market stalls) and this other market place.

Absolutely loved this resort, we were moved here last minute when the resort we were meant to be in was closed the week before we went.
The team of staff, gardeners and maintenance are the friendliest of people, always with a smile on their face and willing to help in any way.
The resort as some have said is a little tired but I would disagree, if you want a relaxing break on the beach with peace and quiet, this is the place for you.
Its a short and cheap taxi ride to the busier parts of Samui.
Reception has a resident taxi driver there who is excellent with her advice for days out etc.
The setting for breakfast is perfect, and the breakfast itself is excellent, sat overlooking the sea as the sun rises, and all you can hear are the sounds of nature, perfect.
Sun beds a plenty but most are partially shaded, which to be honest, is perfect in that heat.
We will definitely be back. and cant wait.

We offer a one way shuttle service at 5 pm and 6 pm at a surcharge to Fisherman's Village (THB 50 per person) and Chaweng Central Festival (THB 100 per person). A cab to from the resort to Maenam Center is THB 350 per way. In the evening/night we do not recommend to walk to the center of Maenam on the beach as it depends on the tide and there are 2 rivers that have to be crossed.
