There's a basic outdoor restaurant & bar patio that shuts down around ten. In fact, the whole place rolls up the sidewalk at about 1030 every night, including weekends. For those looking for some peace & quiet, especially those with kids, that's a plus. One will hear scooters, tuk-tuks & taxis coming near the village late at night-mostly because of intoxicated passengers coming to sleep after partying on the party side of the island.
By far the greatest part of staying here is Maenam Beach. Hardly the greatest beach in Thailand but pleasant enough and no bungalow is more than a three minute walk to the beach. It seems especially "kid friendly" that way.
Be aware of a few things: the service is not bad, but not great. Recyclable garbage tends to pile up while noone seems interested in picking it up. There's little in the way of phone, internet, post, or groceries immediately at hand. The road from the main road into Palm Point is shabby at the best of times; during downpours it can turn into a dismal swamp.
All in all, though, Palm Point is not a bad option for budget/mid-range visitors to Ko Samui.
decent food great clean sandy beach.....no wiFi,scooter for rent easy walk into town
They dont offer any trips etc, but really good to just chill on the beach.
The location was good with a quiet beach. A taxi to the louder Chaweng beach will set you back 300-400B though so don't come here if you're looking for a party.
Only downside were the staff, although friendly, didn't give us a map of the island or explain what we could do during our stay which we have appreciated at other places. There is also a limited number of restaurants and other facilities in walking distance, fine if you're staying for a few nights like us but may be an issue if staying for longer.
Overall a pleasant stay away from the busier parts of Samui.
The location is good with easy access to a tourist information vendor, moped hire, bars and some amazing places to eat!
We hired a moped for the week to get around the island.
Staff were friendly, and the restaurant has good views of the sea.
The restaurant is overlooking the beach, the menu has a full range of Thai dishes along with a selection of European options for the stubborn children lol.
All being said and done we could not of picked a better place to spend 2 weeks and will endeavour to return.
