Whether you ‘re up for a quick weekend getaway, a week long breakaway or a fortnight- long rural retreat, you’ll be at home here.
To offer context , I took a weeklong booking for my sister and newly wheelchair bound Mum, whilst I worked nearby, but extended due the exceptional experience offered by Wendy and Mark.
I have enjoyed adequate hospitality frequently, good hospitality often, but this, NEVER.
Mark and Wendy have excelled in every duty that may be expected, and then go the extra mile… daily!
We will return, and I hope you verify this degree of hospitality for yourselves, to whatever period your schedule affords.
The consideration of our individual needs, and that of Mum, was outstanding.
If you’re in the Bendigo region for work or play, and would prefer to look at manicured gardens, a running river, friendly hounds, blue wrens, drifts of roses, and an exceptionally tailored holiday by wholly-invested hosts, look no further.
Bendigo township 20 mins for food and bulk refreshments, local pub exists for outings.
Wendy and Mark, were made for hospitality( Sis and I have a hospo background) when you know, you know. They’ve rapidly morphed from hosts to friends!
Enjoy your stay!

My partner and I shared a few nights here. It was just great.
We had the motel room. With a private area out the front. Scrumptious afternoon teas, great breakfasts beautiful gardens and plenty of peace and quiet. There are loads of animals and the resident pups are just full of energy.
Wendy gave me the most beautiful bunch of roses to return with.
I’d highly recommend it.

Wonderful, quiet location only 20 minutes from Bendigo, Victoria. Very friendly hosts who provided excellent service whilst also protecting the privacy of guests. A very clean and well equiped B&B located in a country setting surrounded by farmland and a scenic river nearby. Excellent free wifi facilities and a very comfortable bed. Extremely quiet with no traffic noise at all.....just the sounds of nature. Delicious cooked breakfast available every morning and an extensive DVD selection on hand. Hosts are quite happy for guests to explore their garden and property. AC very effective plus microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge, cutlery, bbq etc all available with hosts also able to supply home-cooked meals (at a reasonable cost) or the local hotel is only 10 minutes down the road providing genuine country pub meals. Ideally suited for couples who enjoy peace and quiet in a country setting. A highly recommended B&B superbly managed by Jennifer and John who are obviously dedicated to offering value for money for visiting guests.

Stayed for 3 nights in September 2016. Selected this property for the privacy and as a base to visit Bendigo and Central Victorian areas. We were not disappointed, in fact we were delighted. The room is modern, clean and private. Although we enjoyed our interaction with the hosts Jennifer and John, the privacy of the room meant there were no awkward shared dining or sitting room moments! Jennifer delivered our locally sourced produce, cooked breakfast including pastured eggs from their own chickens - a true delight. With a small kitchenette in the room we could enjoy heating up a meal without stress. This is a fabulous place to stay, don't stay in a hotel or motel in Bendigo, get out to Axedale it's only an easy 20 minute drive.

I really would like not to let out this secret little spot, BUT I feel I should !!.. WOW ! IF your looking for a place to relax and recharge, get away from everything. WELL this is the place.. if your coming from the Nth - Est or West and heading on to your destination make a stop HERE.. You will NOT regret it.. the place has birds everywhere, and you WILL love all the Blue Rens everywhere.. if you sit still they come right up to you.. SO CUTE .. IF you have your Fishing Rod with you well you can use it in the river which is 3min walk away.. BUT I do have one concern there is a back Door that leads into the house that I found out by chance when I opened it hearing people talking. BUT it does not have a lock on it which surprised me a little and I was not offered a key for the front door. I should have mention it when I was asked about the accommodation but didn't think of it then WOULD I go back YOU BET.. !! .. and I will.. it's only about a 90min drive for me..

We had a night here in the weekend and It was wonderful. Lovely people - and beautiful area, this was a fully self contained unit on their property - and so clean !! It was so quiet - we had a great nights sleep and next morning we got up early - made ourselves coffee and breakfast, showered and went for a big walk around the farm. Beautiful gardens - you can tell that they love what they do !
The unit had a fridge and everything was provided for a continental breakfast or you could organise a cooked breakfast if that is your thing.
We were sorry to leave - could have stayed longer, it was so nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city !!

We had the pleasure of staying at River Gardens Axedale last night. What a beautiful property! The hosts were lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed wandering around the property, and along the river, with their dog Peaches, visiting the herds of goats. The little babies were adorable. The room was five star, very clean and comfortable, and we had a lovely cooked breakfast delivered to our room. Close to Heathcote and all the wineries, also, dinner at the Axedale Tavern on Saturday night was lovely.
