As you walk into Dijembe you become a part of what this homely and sustainable lodge's name promises: a circle of friends. Handmade hammocks, recycled building materials, fresh mountain water and small More details like the 'frog city' which protects little amphibians in the wild green camping garden, prove the passion of the green Dijembe team. Respecting the Khoisan ancestors, Dijembe not only invites its guests to drumming and dances, but also preserves their heritage by including and strengthening the local community. Visit the local township with its art shops and taverns. Bounce through the National Park and explore nature on foot, affordable mountain bikes or on the backs of Dijembe's horses - or book some tubing. End the day with a wholesome organic dinner and bread from the stone pizza oven, then star gaze from the jacuzzi on the candle-lit deck. Less

The people are very friendly, the vibe is amazing! A goat, a monkey, hammocks and a bonfire. Very nice vibe if one stays in a single room- perfect.
I stayed one night in the dorm- unfortunately the whole ceiling of te dorm is covered with black mould which is pretty unhealthy. Go

Spent over 4 months trekking through 9 Southern African countries. I don't say lightly that this is my favourite hostel.

Many reasons, but we'll start with James: the perfect gentleman.
His accent's all over the place, from South of England to South of Africa to South of Jamaic

James & Forcina bent over backwards to make sure that we could do all of the activities we wanted to. They made recommendations & arranged everything for us - James was an awesome guide on our horse riding tour. They worked very hard to make a community atmosphere so we met lots

My girlfriend and I stayed here in late January 2018. We had our own camping tent which they let us set up in the backyard, They were very reasonably priced and had an awesome atmosphere as well as great recommendations and hook-ups for all of the local activities.

This place is just amazing. It is completely different from all the other hostels I've been in during my travel along the garden route. The atmosphere is great and the staff super friendly and funny. Dijembe is the perfect place to meet cool people and spend long nights in front

Does the plot opposite this hostel, which looks like a dumping ground, belong to Dijembe? Who lives in that shack and whose rubbish is dumped there?
Leah the Shack is on a Khoisan historical ruin kept without roof or walls in front with a naturally collapsed tree over it . Awesome to keep old stuff original. Stuff being cleared from top of bushy section was brought down to street for removal . Ja locals have unfortunately been illegally dumping on the plot at the hidden n bushy part. Thanks

"Dorms are great, you might want to be close to the fan if it's the summer."
"suggest the quieter 5 bed mixed dorm....nice location in the forest....or the private double room with en-suite facilities"
