Due to an early flight from another island, we arrived at Pension Galini at the worst possible time--early morning as breakfast was being served. Maria and her parents were gracious and offered us coffee and OJ on the porch. They also advised us on the best way to get to Samos town the following morning for a day ferry to Turkey.

The room was small, but quite nice and the balcony from which we could see the ocean was perfect. We loved the town of Ireon, which is not even mentioned in many guidebooks, Well off the beaten path for American tourists, it seems. We were able to walk (~1.5-2 km) to the Temple of Hera and take the somewhat infrequent bus around the island otherwise. We were mostly content to stay in Ireon, which was full of delightful seaside restaurants and beaches.

The only caveat--we were asked to wire a deposit to a bank account to hold the room. I was not comfortable doing that, so were were lucky that a room was available!

This is a very nice and very clean family hotel which has a nice natural surrounding and is very near to the beaches of the Ireon Village, a village with nice fish restaurants, bars, snack bars and is near to the ancient Hera Temple. The family members who own this family hotel are very kind and helpful people. You can go swim and sunbath in the very near beaches or go to a nice dinner at the very near fish retaurants or have a rest at the Cafes of the village or visit the souvenir shops at this village. Or if you rent a car, motorcycle etc, you can visit the famous ancient Eupalinos Tunnel, the nice seaside city of Pythagorio (The city where the famous mathematician Pythagoras of the ancient times was born) and you can travel to a lot of interesting monasteries and churches on Samos Island. I am very busy nowadays but at the first chance in the near future I will add the photos of this pension and of our holiday days in Samos. More
