My son and I recently returned from a very memorable 4 day fishing trip, at Eagle Nook resort .
In every respect the resort exceeded our expectations ...lovely setting and local scenery , excellent land facilities , superb Grady White boats, first class fish processing , and a very helpful and friendly staff .
Our guide , Sean , was just great , and always working hard to put us on some great fish , including numerous salmon and a pair of beautiful halibut ......
Jimmy , the chef , put out some really extraordinary dinners , which sent us to bed groaning with pleasure !
Jeff and Dan , who manage the resort are hands on and their leadership is readily apparent from the camaraderie among the staff , especially the guides .
I would not hesitate to recommend this resort , and look forward to another future visit .

We just returned from my third visit to Eagle Nook. Like the previous two visits, the great staff at the resort didn't disappoint. Jeff and Dan run a well organized operation. The food was endless and fantastic. Sam and her team took care of all guests in a professional manner. Trevor was our guide this time around, but I've had Chris before and they are all awesome. We hit our limits on salmon, halibut and ling cod. Trev knew where all the hot spots were. The entire guiding team at Eagle Nook constantly communicated with one another so that all guests were privy to the good fishing spots. I'm already looking forward to returning next year. Bonus points for Eagle Nook because of the helipad!

Our group used to run a local salmon enhancement fishing Derby in Sooke,BC.

Every year since the derby folded we plan as a group do a yearly trip taking our own boats to different places on the island. We're pretty picky as we sportfish as well year round.

Most of the places we stay at we usually process all our own catch, and take care of everything.

I approached Dan Brunet who runs the lodge about a trip for us. Since we booked Dan and staff went out of the way to accommodate us.

I have to say all of us were impressed. The food was awesome and staff was great. We never had to ask for anything a second time.

Well run lodge and well worth the money. Highly recommend.

From the moment we first saw the resort until we left six days later, we were never disappointed. The food was the equivalent of a four star restaurant at every meal. The offerings were varied and the presentation a delight. The staff was always available and ready to help as needed from aloe for sunburn to an evening of sea kayaking. We rarely have time to relax during the year and found this lack of computers, television etc a most enjoyable adventure. We were able to be as active or sedentary as we wished. The resort has a philosophy of encouraging first name use for both staff and guests and this turned out to be quite comfortable while dignified and respectful. We stayed six nights and managed to stay occupied however I would suggest four or five nights as the ideal with perhaps some time allotted for the city of Vancouver. To sum it up, this was an incredible experience. A setting that was as beautiful and serene as one could imagine coupled with first class service and food too good to describe.

Upon our arrival from a thrilling speed boat ride to the property which is inaccessible by land, this was a treasure. Everyone was wonderful here--just trying to make you happy. Food was lovely, personal, and beautifully presented. Rooms were spacious--no a/c, so request an eastern view. Hot tub was a welcome respite after hiking. Wish there were some flatter trails, though. Kayaking was really special--whale and eagle watching spectacular--skip the picnic lunch and request a real meal back at the resort before embarking on nature cruise. Could use a place to swim. Did not miss tv or phone.

The only good thing about this trip where the girls that worked there they where awesome as for the rest of the trip one of the worst fishing trips I have been on and I have been on a lot they gave me a different guide everyday as they where scrambling to find guides Matt the guide I had the first day was awesome but they moved him to someone else which for this caliper of a place is un professional as a gru we decided to split are fish which I was fine with but I was one of the only people to catch some silvers and when I got home found I didn't get any of them they will only send you with one small box of fish and keep the rest I guess this is the least amount of fish I have ever brought back from a trip as for the rest of are group from talking to them they all had a great time I guess me and my buddy must have drew the short straw.

Dear philgturpin, As this is the most negative review we have ever had, it is most concerning to us that you had the experience you did during your stay at Eagle Nook. We are however glad to hear that you left with a positive impression of our guest services staff. It is unfortunate that you didn’t get the Cohos (silvers) that you expected, and we sincerely apologize for this. When a group pools their fish we always try to distribute fish evenly among the boxes however when there are only one or two of a certain species this isn’t always possible. Once fish are pooled and we’re packing boxes, our intention is always to send everyone home with the same amount of fish, up to their legal possession limits. While being mindful of weight and space restrictions on the float plane, we were still able to send everyone home with a box of between 42 and 50 lbs. Some of these boxes may have contained more of one type of fish than another, but when pooling fish we always try to weight each box as evenly as possible. We are pleased to hear you had such a great experience with Matt on your first day. With large groups we often try to pair guests with different guides throughout their trip, and we’ve always felt this worked well for both guests and guides. Taking into account your experience we will consider a different procedure in future. While you didn’t mention the food and lodging, we sincerely hope this part of your experience met your expectations. We do thank you for your review and we will seriously take your comments into consideration.

My wife and I discovered Eagle Nook Resort & Spa while cruising in Barkley Sound B.C. four years ago. We were completely enchanted by this very special hideaway. Since then we have made a point of returning at least once every season. It is one of our favorite places anywhere. Beautiful, pristine, majestic, and eloquent, Eagle Nook is just terrific. Don't pass on any opportunity to visit this very special place.

We stayed 4 days in August, and had a fantastic time, even in the one day of bad weather. Staff are genuinely friendly (how often do you get hugged goodbye at a hotel) and took a lot of trouble to talk to us, especially our sons, aged 10 and 12. Food was great, and service also - not intrusive, but attentive. Expensive break, but well worth it, we saw things you can't see every day - whales, seals, black bear, otters, in their natural environment. The hotel architecture is striking - rooms are standard hotel type, but the main area is a double-height wood panelled huge-windowed space with amazing views - perfect for relaxing after a day kayaking or scrambling on the forest trails.

Our bucket list included a fishing trip at a PNW fishing lodge. We chose this one based on online reviews and the staff did not disappoint. The expert fishing guides knew where to go what to do and delivered beautiful fish. The processing system was impressive - right from the weigh in, the photo ops, the filleting, and the packaging and freezing. The staff were incredibly hospitable and accommodating - right down to providing off time meals when we were hungry. Though I am not sure why we should have been hungry since they provide a hearty delicious breakfast, a sandwich bar with apples and treats to pack for the boat trip, a hot dock side mid afternoon snack (try chili or chowder or Mac and Cheese) and an incredible three course dinner. The bar is well stocked and the wine very reasonably price - many delicious Okanagan varietals.
Can not rave enough about this experience.
