The resort is great , beautiful nature, great breafast, the staff was very attentive and nice. We were also happy with our party on the 14th century Abbey. Something to improvea are the bathroom linnen which were not at the level of 5 star hotel. They need to be renewed.
This resort is a truly special place. We arrived early in the morning and were quickly registered and guided to a very nice room with a king size bed to get some rest after flying all night. We spent four nights here attending a wedding. The staff were all outstanding and they all spoke English on request. The people refreshing the rooms were also working to make our stay comfortable. We did not use the pool, spa or golf course so will not comment on these facilities. Being a golfer, I did walk a few holes to look at the layout and it did look challenging. The restaurants and bar were well staffed and very pleasant experiences. The bride and groom had 50 guests for a wedding and we only heard positive comments on the hotel and staff. The wedding reception was held in the 14th century Abbey on the property and it was also well maintained with a superb wedding.…
Beautiful grounds and luxurious rooms , the hotel is truly stunning . The staff could be more attentive to first timers as found that they spent a lot of time with clients that come year on year however this didn’t spoil our experience . The breakfast was lovely and had everything that you could wish for ! Found the pool restaurant to be very over priced and the food was mediocre, however the pool was excellent !…
Got upgraded to one of the nicer suites. The resort is simply amazing; the setting is gorgeous for a nice and relaxing stay. While the hotel was catering for a wedding during our stay, the hotel is very private. Moreover, the level of service is remarkable. The concierge helped us with our dinner arrangements as well as with some travel incidents we got while travelling in Portugal. We tried the breakfast which was very nice and again in a beautiful setting giving on the gardens. Wished we could have stayed more than a night!…
We’ve been staying at Penha Longa and overall have found it to be a lovely hotel. The grounds are beautiful, the pool and spa are some of the best we’ve experienced, and the food of a great quality (albeit the price point can be quite high!). So it was a shame that our visit (and a number of other guests we talked to whilst staying also commented on this) was overshadowed by the managers’ preoccupation with a handful of “difficult” guests. I respect that the managers are keen to ensure such guests have a good experience, but this shouldn’t be at the expense of the attention paid to all guests. For example, at breakfast each morning the managers would spend almost all of their time chatting to such guests despite leaving the front desk unattended and having the rest of us wait a short while until another staff member noticed and seated us. This was made all the more disappointing when we noticed the managers bringing out to said guests plates of food from the kitchen which were not made available to other guests of the hotel. Even by the pool, the guests demanded almost an hour of a manager’s time despite the many other guests who required assistance. We understand that the hotel are keen to ensure such difficult guests enjoy their stay, but this shouldn’t be to the extent that it detracts from others’ experience. At the end of the day, we are all paying customers. It’s a shame as otherwise our stay was lovely.…
