We stayed at the Last resort before and after we walked the Heaphy Track and it was an awesome place to stay before you head off and after the walk. Great facilities for laundry and accommodation. Very comfortable beds and great warm rooms. The owners were awesome as well and very accommodating. I would highly recommend this resort for everyone... More

We hung about in Karamea to try the Whitebait at The Last Resort which was available from 11.30a.m. onwards. The crispy fritter was yummy and packed with local, fresh whitebait, in between two slices of fresh molenberg bread. I like my salt but would recommend it be optional, especially for those with heart problems.

Called into " The Last Resort " and met up with Dave and Betty Watson who have been relieving managers there. They have done a great job, and the welcome which I recieved was typical of the West Coast Hospitality for which the area was famous for. The grass covered rooves of the resort have been replaces, but it makes... More

We stayed at the Last Resort after riding the Heaphy Track. Good facilities for laundry and bike washing. The room was comfortable, with a great shower. We had a few drinks in the bar by the fire and a great meal that night. Breakfast was pretty god, the next morning. The staff were really good. Recommended for the weary traveller.

We mountain biked the Heaphy Track and stayed at the Last resort before and after our ride. They are friendly, accommodating and really go the extra mile for their guests. Great place to stay. Friendly people. Definitely recommend. They cater for all budgets and the food was really delicious. Loved the roaring fire too.

For no nonsense affordable accommodation when doing the Heaphy Track look no further. Bed in room for 5 $37/ person! You must try the whitebait sandwiches- they are excellent. Bar, food and staff were all great. Very pleased to have stayed here. The amenities are basic but after 90 k's of biking it was heaven. Thanks to the friendly staff... More

I stayed in the Last Resort for several times and it is in my opinion by far the best Hotel in the little town of Karamea. The owners Ed and Tania are super friendly and the rooms are spacious and very clean... Ask Ed about the famous Whiskey Club of Karamea. Defiantly a story worth listen to!

Giving us additional travel directions to see more beautiful scenery, was well worth the extra 40 minutes each way to view hidden lagoons at the start of the Heaphy track. The staff were fantastic and friendly, the rooms a great size for two couples. Own bedrooms, clean, nicely decorated and big bathroom. Locals were lovely, and you felt very welcomed.... More
