Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

The property is stunning and beautiful inside with quirky items of furniture. Pool and views fabulous.
BUT .. reading previous reviews, we ignored two things. This is very much the owners home and she did not make us feel welcome in any way. There were rules and regulations to follow, ok, but it felt like you were being watched constantly. The owner went out one day and we felt ourselves physically relax round the pool!! She did not explain procedures well and, during breakfast on the terrace, would clear up around you still eating , while still eating breakfast, or hoover in the kitchen!! We felt rather uncomfortable.
Secondly, there are two railway lines either side of the property in very close proximity. The train noise was quite loud and annoying in the evening.
We didn’t think it possible to walk to a beach in the town, as the B&B is situated in a residential area a little up a hill. That was our mistake, but fitter folk may manage the walk

Great location, beautiful pool with splendid views. Trains are not disturbing, let alone at night.
Room with plenty of storage but it really lacks air conditioning in summer. The bathroom is very small but functional.
Breakfast is medium, the bread dries fast and if there is any left from the day before, it will be harder.
Welcome well, the rest average, we do not really know if we are on vacation or if we take a test...
You can't go through the kitchen to the pool, it's a matter of hygiene. I totally agree, but the cats get on the worktops and chairs, and the family she spends in the kitchen with the kids?
The rules ok but it has to be consistent...

This B&B is very well located. The view is splendid, facing the Lac Léman, and the rooms are clean and confortable. The only thing is, you don't feel welcome at all. It always seems that you are bothering the owner. Sometimes, we would be eating outside on the terasse and she would walk by without a look or a smile, as if we weren't even there. And we didn't feel comfortable going to the pool either, all her family being around as well as her children's friends. Her mother, though, was really nice and it seems she tried to make it up to us. Overall, I liked my experience over there but I'm not sure I would go back because of that. If I go back, I would definately rent the small appartment downstairs so I could a private terasse in the back.

Despite an amazing eye for detail and a fantastic house with an amazing view, the host lacks friendly social skills and etiquette.

We did appreciate that we could leave our suitcases in the garage. (We arrived admittedly before the check in time of 1600 because we wanted to see some of the area and I was at fault that I didn't inform her before)

However please be aware that you are taking money from us and we are guests in your B&B yet were made to feel like intruders.
Also it was a very uncomfortable feeling to realise that our rooms had been entered while we were at breakfast. (We noticed the bins had been cleaned). Of you are going to have a strict check in time of 1600 then we request that you respect your own check out time of 10:00 and to not start doing the laundry or cleaning the rooms before.

Stunning view, very nice area.
The reception, however, was very negative. Too bad with more kindness and friendliness the place could be very beautiful.
Plus the room was cold and so was the bathroom.
I don't think we will return.
The price in relation to the performance is not adequate.

Vevey and Montreux is a beautiful part of the world and this B&B certainly captures the beauty.

Unfortunately we should have continued looking when it said kids only over 12. We thought why not ask the question - "Is it ok with our children (ages 7 & 9)?". We were accepted as there was availability - and because our kids could swim.

Upon arrival continuous events happened that left us feeling very uneasy and uncomfortable.

We were openly scrutinized at the pool in front of other guests over opening "not functional" window coverings (apparently there was a french sign saying moving the window covering is a no, no - which is fine if you speak french!)

The owner sat at the pool (in the corner) peering over a magazine observing every move. This was after we were told pool hours closed at 6:00pm (40 minutes after we arrived) because of private family pool time (although the family was at the pool in the afternoon during "public pool time").

The next day, my kids (and I) were yelled at from across the house by the owner because they took a gum ball from the gum ball machine near the front door. We were told "They are supposed to ask!". The kids had asked me and I said 'ok' thinking a gum ball machine at the front door is part of the hospitality...

Other small things happened during our stay that are trivial but left us with the feeling that we were not really welcome and were merely there for some extra income on the part of the B&B owner.

The area truly is beautiful. Unfortunately this B&B owner left us with a sour taste in our mouth. If you are in the hospitality business, perhaps being hospitable should be a part of the service.

Spent one night in the loft which had a great space, though it was very obvious that it was occupied by a tenant whom moved out for the night. The bed was terrible. The owner, madame Egli is very strange and does nothing to make you feel at home. This is the reason why we won't be staying there again.

Although the location and it's views are very nice, the whole experience of spending time there is really destroyed by the unfriendly owner who corrects every step of the guest and has a "fake-friendly" way to criticize all guest's questions, moves or actions.
This is a real pity as the place could be beautiful and welcoming.

Pretty sure we'll not return there and we'll not recommend it.

We had read the reviews regarding the inhospitality of the owner, Madame Egli, but decided to try the B&B based on its location and nice photos and to judge the owner based on our experience. Unfortunately, the reviews were all too correct and the owner was by far the rudest person we have ever come across in hospitality. She made us feel extremely unwelcome and despite the rooms being lovely and clean, and the breakfast being decent, we will never stay at this B&B again. The house is also wedged between two train lines and although other reviews said that the noise wasn't a problem, our room was facing one of the lines and the noise from the very frequent trains was quite loud all night. The house is in such a beautiful location and it is such a pity that the terrible owner and noise from the trains ruins the experience.
