There are six two level family-size self-contained, waterfront apts. and four oversize studio apts. each with complete privacy, unrivalled views of the lagoon, ocean and the uninhabited islets opposite. Each 2 or 3 bedroom apts. of well over 1000 square feet (100 square meters), offer accommodation of either two or three bedrooms one and a half or two and a half bathrooms, a huge dining / lounge area, laundry and kitchen, viewing and relaxing decks, verandas and a private courtyard too. The modern studio apts. are large (50sq m) .A great tropical island paradise for family, wedding parties & honeymoons . The spacious grounds are palm shaded, with frangipani, bougainvillea and hibiscus gardens, hedges, lawns and sandy sunbathing areas. Our swimming pool is surrounded by hardwood timber decks and thatched shade and barbecue huts. Our private jetty stretches from the shore into the deep water harbour. It is a short kayak ride across the uninhabited tropical islet opposite.

Simple but large and very comfortable and super quiet apartment on the edge of Muri Lagoon (swimmable from the jetty when the current is not strong and there is a swimming pool and kayaks). We have stayed at those apartments 8 times in the last 25 years. We love the feel of the place and we hope they will not change: they are not luxurious but they are very clean, bright and very well appointed with a great vibe. Desiree the insite manager is fantastic and keep the place in great shape and make sure the guests have what they need. We stayed 9 nights but could have stayed much longer. We will be back of course and we hope it will stay the same!

This place is fantastic, the jetty and crystal clear waters are only metres from your outside balcony, there is a great pool that is so well maintained. The staff do a great job of keeping the entire property spotless and are always happy to help, it feels very safe here and is great for families. The highlight for my girls is the local cat they met which they have named Jerry, the owners tell us he is a stray but he clearly belonged to someone once as he is the friendliest little cat we have ever met, once we started feeding him he was never far away and would follow our 10 year old girls everywhere which they loved. We have found it very hard to say goodbye to Jerry so if you are lucky enough to meet him, please give him a little something to eat and a scratch under the chin.

We absolutely loved our stay at avana waterfront! Desiree could not have been more lovely and made us feel so at home. She was so accommodating letting us arrive early, and stay right up until we had to leave for the airport - so kind and so appreciated! Our portacot was set up for us when we got there and bits and pieces in the fridge to start us off. The apartments are in an amazing location right on the water and the jetty to watch and feed fish. Lovely swimming right outside your apartment door! A nice 20 min walk into muri or a short drive. We will be back to stay again. Thankyou for everything!

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment and although there was plenty of room it was dated and tired looking and could do with some clean up noting the following: * Kitchen cupboards old and had a very musty smell * Outdoor seating had ripped canvas * Outdoor rubber mat disintegrating * Shower head kept falling out of the holder so a couple of times we had water everywhere in the bathroom * Downstairs toilet seat loose * Clothes drying rack provided however this was rusty so didn't fancy using this * Wi-Fi initially very spotty however this was fixed in a timely manner
It's a twenty minute walk into Muri so would recommend you hire a car or scooter so you have transport. Also note rooms are only serviced once every three days.
On a positive note it has a great location overlooking lagoon with private jetty and the Manager Desiree was always very helpful.

Location and unit was lovely. No hot water for the entire week even after multiple complaints. Our family of six had cold showers and washed dishes in cold water the whole seven days. Paid for 40GB of wifi to find modem was broken and couldn’t use the vouchers at all until modem replaced four days later (once vouchers had expired). Was forced to purchase $40 more of vouchers as only offered 2.5GB as compensation. Shower head broken but was replaced timely manner. Toilet falling over in downstairs bathroom. Broken door lock to ranchslider. No tea or sugar provided. Phone broken and didn’t work and replaced on day four. No freezer provided so couldn’t store food or even put ice in our drinks or freeze food. No oven, only a microwave and cooktop. Terrible tv picture quality with only rabbit ears. Huge gap between ceiling of our unit and adjacent apartment resulting in volume disturbance at times until 1.30am. This was awful. No service Sunday or after 4pm from management. Won’t be back. Minimal apologies and no offer of any reimbursement for issues.

The staff was awesome, location was good. Gardens and pool were awesome. But there was cupboard’s falling apart, The wardrobe had a real bad smell so I wouldn’t hang my clothes. Very hard to get out of the driveway on to the main road. We never got any replenishment (milk, coffee, tea,suger) Room was only serviced every 3-4 days.

Typical of what you would expect from apartments. However….. right on the inlet with their own jetty. Lovely to walk out either morning or afternoon and feed the fish. Your own reef fish on the doorstep just as good as any other location. Kayaks and snorkelling gear provided. Turtles off the end of the jetty. I don’t think you would get that anywhere else.
Close to Muri beach with the food market and a whole host of activity options.
It was the nice touches like a personalised welcome note on the door when you arrive, fruit and bread already there that made a difference.
But the main asset was Desiree. Nothing was a problem and she was always there to assist with anything.

We have just returned from Avana Waterfront apartments and they provided the perfect place to relax and enjoy the waterfront in a tropical paradise. The apartments are comfortable and spacious, Desiree cannot do enough to help and make sure everything goes smoothly. We enjoyed the access to the lagoon and the jetty rather than direct beach front. There are kayaks on the waterfront to use in the lagoon and a brief kayak across the lagoon takes you to the white sand of the small islands in the lagoon. A small piece of bread thrown into the water from the jetty brings myriads of tropical fish around. It is a short drive or about a 15 minute walk to the cafes and restaurants at Muri Beach which we found was a bonus. We look forward to going back to oasis of tranquility.

We stayed here as a couple for nine days and nights in August 2024 and loved it. It is about 20 minutes walk in to Muri where there are plenty of places to eat and drink. You may want to have your own transport if you stay here, although the bus stop is only five minutes walk and buses every half hour. We had bicycles for the entire time and rode everywhere on the island, the only downside being that we needed to be off the road before dark, around 1815 in August. Desiree was a fabulous host and we would definitely stay here again on a return visit.. Andrew and Alice Australia

A tranquil setting yet close to all shops n amenities. Families n singles well catered for. Angelyn and Beth are friendly and super helpful. Nothing is too much for these professionals. The showers are fantastic, bed is comfortable and the air conditioning will have you shivering. Fresh fruit always available. Free use of kayaks, snorkels, reef shoes and life jackets. Can't recommend highly enough. Meitaki maata. Hope to return soon

Hi Lisa,
Only the back bedroom in Apt 2 has shower in the room. The middle room and front bedroom the shower is separate from the room. In 3 bedroom there is 2 shower and toilet . Ground floor has the kitchen, lounge, veranda ,laundry, toilet and hand basin.

Getting the Internet is expensive anywhere On Rarotonga simply because of how far it is from anywhere! At the Avana Apartments we could pay $10 for 200mb for 24 hours. We did this a couple of times but really we were happy to have an internet free holiday.
There are more places to choose from in the Muri area.
