This resort is relaxed and basic but welcoming and peaceful. There is a small reception with a friendly welcome and on-site free parking. The rooms are around 20 villas spread out over quite a large area with a decent size central pool at which there are BBQ facilities. There is a guest laundry you can pay to use or they will do a load for you. We were in a 2 bedroom villa which was spacious and comfortable with a living room, dining area, small deck with loungers and a kitchen which has most basic utensils, a microwave and a gas 2 burner. The bathroom had a shower and a full bath with jets. The area of the beach isn’t as nice as other parts of Muri with rocks and weed straight off the beach, but there is a nice view of the nearby island which you can wade to. The snorkelling nearby isn’t the best, but there is a spot to the right of the island which is OK, but only OK. They have kayaks and SUPs available as well as snorkelling gear and reef shoes. At the beach there is a bar which is sometimes open in the afternoon and serves very basic drinks - low quality Australian wines, basic beers and spirits. There’s no restaurant on site but you can charge back from the sister resort Nautilus (although that restaurant was not great and certainly not for the prices it charged). The resort wifi is fine for emails and websites and you can upgrade to premium for a price if you need to. All in all this was a good place to stay and we would return as it’s a good option for families with kids. The staff were very friendly and learned our son’s name.

Muri Beach Resort was a comfortable, modern and family friendly property. The room was clean and well maintained. Pool area was beautiful and relaxing. The beach that is right at the back of the property is beautiful and leisure equipment such as stand-up paddle boards, kayaks, snorkels and reef-shoes were all available and well maintained.
Guests have access to facilities such as the restaurant at the adjacent sister property, Nautilus. The view from the restaurant is stunning and the breakfast buffet and quality of dinner food were amazing. We also used the Nautilus spa and the massages were fantastic. Staff throughout the property, starting with our first impression of Waqa greeting us at the airport, to Janet in the restaurant, to the cleaning staff and office staff, were all very friendly and helpful.
Of note is that we came in on the JQ flight from Sydney that arrives quite early in the morning (well in advance of 14:00 check-in). We were warmly welcomed, shown to the restaurant for breakfast and offered towels and a place to change to enjoy the pool while our room was prepared. And the staff turned our room around by 12:00, 2 hours before check-in time. Between a great airport transfer and this check-in experience, what a way to make a great first impression!
Other great part of this location is its proximity to great businesses within walking distance or a short bus ride. Lots of quality bars, restaurants, bakeries, cafes, cultural museum and other cultural experiences, Muri night markets, snorkelling, gardens, lagoon tours, to name a few.

Wanting to get away from it all and relax in paradise while celebrating my 60th birthday, I decided to book a trip to Rarotonga and stay in one of the ocean view rooms. Our stay was comfortable, and the room was clean and well equipped. The location on Muri Lagoon was perfect for beach walks, kayaking and Snorkeling. We had a small issue during heavy rain, which the resort staff immediately resolved by moving us to the stunning beachfront villa! We were assisted in every way by Made, who ensured our stay was wonderful. Attentive to our needs, he helped book us for the dinner show at Te Vara Nui. Komang at the beach bar was wonderful as well, making sure our afternoon happy hour was enjoyable. Both Made and Komang made our stay very pleasant.

From the time we checked in to the time we checked out we could not have been happier. Mahea the lovely girl at reception always had a smile on her face and was friendly and welcoming. She stayed on late the day of our arrival because our plane was delayed after breaking down in Auckland. She showed us to our second story beachfront villa number 17 and explained everything we needed to know about the resort including its free use of kayaks, snorkel gear and stand up paddle boards. Our second story villa over looked Muri beach and the lagoon. It was private and a wonderful place just to sit and relax and watch the waves crashing on the reef beyond. It had a conservatory with large windows that could be open or shut depending on the weather. It was great, giving uninterrupted views out to sea and was sheltered from the weather if needed. The room was spotless and clean with comfortable seating . The TV had only one channel but Netflix available if you wanted it. We did not need television as the view and surroundings is what we came for. An ample supply of tea, coffee and milk. We had the daily service package which you could decline if it was not needed each day. The cleaning staff and ground staff are friendly and genuinely care about the people staying at the resort. The bathroom was small but adequate. The only thing we did not like about the bathroom was the lack of privacy from the rest of the complex. One window had a film on the glass but you could clearly still see us using the bathroom, especially at night. The only opening window had a wooden blind that needed to go beyond the frame for privacy. Another window in the shower had clear glass but because you showered at the other end of the shower over spa bath it wasn’t as big problem. We did solve the privacy issue by placing cardboard over 3/4 of the window which worked a treat. Made (pronounced Maddie) was also another standout. He and the team , made spectacular floral display and towel art on the bed as a surprise for my wife’s birthday. It was amazing and she was overcome with emotion from such a kind and considerate gesture. Best birthday surprise ever. We would not hesitate in staying again, the villas exterior could do with an update but the resort and its people more than made up for that. Good safe off street parking and reception open during daylight hours that were happy to help with any concerns or requests including booking our island night buffet and cultural show. Thank you Mahea for being such a wonderful friendly receptionist.

We are just back from another fantastic stay at MBR. The gardens and pool area were all looking wonderful and the view from our lovely room was amazing. The beach and lagoon were all looking pristine and we were fortunate to have good weather even managed to see some whales just outside the reef! A real bonus of this resort is the pool area is very sheltered so on the days when the breeze was blowing into the beach a bit much the pool area is idyllic set in the gorgeous gardens looking either towards the mountains or from the other end to the lagoon, such a lovely property. We didn't use it this time but there's the added feature of a BBQ Area and dining table by the pool which is awesome if you are there with a group or family and want to self cater. There's also a big deck at the end of the resort right on the beach and we sat there every morning with our coffee and watched the sunrise. Chatted to other guests, who also love it there and were either returnees or had been referred by others who'd stayed previously. MBR is in a great location at Muri Beach and is easy walking distance to lots of shops, dining and activity options. Have been to Rarotonga many times and stayed various places but our favourite is MBR. It has sister resort Nautilus right next door and the restaurant and bar area is divine. We had breakfast there most days looking out at the lagoon, it's so beautiful and you feel very blessed to be there. We had a lunch and dinner there too, and also drinks and island fries at happy hour or whenever we felt like it :) We had a massage at the Nautilus spa which was heavenly. Staff at both resorts are really friendly and very efficient. Really did not want to leave! Highly recommend Muri Beach Resort and hope to get back there next year.

Muri Beach Resort was the perfect place to relax. It felt as though we had the whole place to ourselves because there is no bar/restaurant to attract tourists from other resorts. This was no problem... as we were in close walking distance to lots of cafes, bars etc anyway. Our favourite eating place however was having our own BBQ by the pool. Magic! You will need to make a trip to a supermarket early on to do this... the staff were happy to help with this and we felt that they went out of their way to make us comfortable, providing transport to the market, a church service and generally going above and beyond. The location is wonderful with the beautiful lagoon right there for activities such as snorkling, kyaking and paddle boarding (all equip avail for free) or just gazing out at the stunning view or walking along the beach. We felt at home and relaxed from the moment we were picked up from the airport. We would come back again in a heartbeat. "Meitaki" Muri Beach Resort!!!!

We stayed at Muri Beach Resort and got married at Nautilus Resort. We had an awesome time. It was such a beautiful location with very helpful and kind staff and the villa was comfortable, cosy, and had all the amenities we could possibly wish for. The windows had fly screens, working air con, comfortable bedding and, was clean and tidy. It also had a line to hang clothes and a laundry, and the staff were more than happy to oblige when we needed something (broom, dustpan, etc). I'd highly recommend Muri Beach resort as a place to stay.

My husband and I just returned from our trip to the Cook Islands. We stayed at 3 resorts throughout our stay and both agree that Muri Beach was our favorite. The pool and grounds were very well kept. Our room was IMMACULATE! The rooms were more of an efficiency apartment which made it easy to bring food back from the local night market or cafes and drinks and snacks from 24hr convenient store without having to dine out all of the time. Which really was cost efficient. Muri Beach Resort is located in a very accessible location. It’s an easy walk to ATMs, coffee shops, the night market and a 24hr convenient store. If you do choose to dine out the Nautilus Resort is right next door and has wonderful food and views. The beach is just steps from your door and they offer SUPs and kayaks at no charge. The one factor that we agree on that made the most difference between our resort stays were the staff. We were initially greeted at the airport by Waka who could not have been friendlier and more patient despite our very late arrival. The next day we were blessed to be able to tour the island with Waka who provided us with a thorough history of the culture and islands. He brought us to unexpected places we would never have seen in our own. This tour was the highlight of our whole week. Waka truly takes pride in his work as well as his culture. Made was so accommodating at the front desk with our requests and such a pleasure to talk to. We always looked forward to seeing Janet and her warm smile when dining at The Nautilus. We also enjoyed talking with Panjii on our trip back to the airport. We would definitely recommend Muri Beach Resort for the staff, location and laid back vibe!

We were slightly disappointed with our stay at Muri Beach Resort. We stayed in room 14 and it was very dated and old. The bathroom is in dire need of some TLC. The roof has water damage. We had ants around our bed. The blinds were mouldy and tired looking. The lamps were broken and the tv was that old it wasn’t worth watching. We weren’t there to watch tv but we did have a lot of down time and with little internet would have been nice to have something to watch. I ordered a fruit basket on arrival and didn’t receive it and was instead compensated with a “breakfast basket” which wasn’t needed as we had breakfast plans each day and had bought our own breakfast supplies. The girl also handed it to me saying “complimentary” but I think she was supposed to say “substitute”. So I was even more disappointed when we enquired where the fruit basket was to be told the sad looking breakfast basket was that instead. The pool area is fantastic and we spent many hours with our little one there and the short walk and location to the beach and other amenities of Muri Beach is great.

Ok so here's the deal :) Muri Beach Resort has a 'sister' resort next door called Nautilus. In terms of facilities at Muri Beach Resort: it has lovely rooms, a lovely welcome/info desk, a pool, and access to the beach and kayaks/snorkels/paddleboards. The guests at Muri beach are seriously amazing! Because there is a sister resort next door, facilities can be used there - like booking into the spa and eating at the restaurant (including happy hour). There are also trips that can be booked that are hosted by Nautilus (some cost extra). I highly recommend going with a package that includes cooked breakfast at Nautilus because its an amazing way to start the day. The team at Nautilus are incredible also (shoutout to Keenan - he's amazing). The only downer at Muri beach is the poor little cat that needs some attention of a vet - we and some of the other guests felt very sorry for it. But seriously amazing - and Muri beach really is where you want to be! There are amazing restaurants and activities to book at Muri Beach - so the location is epic.

Fridge / freezer, standard small home size. The stores are open most days, so don't be too concerned and just shop 1-2 days ahead. So many great places to eat, including within walking distance that you will probably only want a small freezer for a bbq anyway - there is a complimentary one at the resort.
