Detailed Reviews
Myself and my partner booked a garden room which was right in front of the pool. The pool wasn't busy at all so no problems with noise and it was nice to have it nearby.
The resort has free use of kayaks, paddleboards, snorkeling gear and bikes all of which we used throughout our stay. There is great snorkeling at the lagoon right by the resort otherwise Fruits of Rarotonga is close too.
The room itself had everything we needed. The kitchenette was nice to have to make our own breakfast/snacks. The water is filtered so no need to buy and waste plastic bottles. The bedroom has aircon which made for a good night's sleep. I liked the attention to detail - such as the make up remover cloth and the varying room service signs which allow you to chose more environmentally friendly room service options.
The location is fantastic. Right next door is the Muri night markets which have great food. There is a good selection of cafes and restaurants nearby, all of which serve delicious food.
The staff are friendly and welcoming, and always happy to help. The transfer to and from the airport was also seamless.
Overall it is great value for money, and you will not run out of things to do. Would love to stay again.

The property arranged a no cost airport transfer and the Rep was there to meet us and then drove us close to our room and provided us with our keys, did not even have to stop at the office. The room was a sea view so not right on the beach but your could hear the waves. The accommodations are very nice, not luxury, but very comfortable, but the value is fantastic. You are provided items stocked in your fridge for breakfast which includes milk and juice. DVD's, are available from the office and you are within steps of the night market, a nearby 24 hour market and ATM. The bus stop is right in front for round the island transport, location wise you can't beat this property. Plenty of restaurant choices near by as well. I would highly recommend anyone doing a short or even extended stay on Raro to stay here.
Disliked · Nothing really, the property is well maintained and staff eager to assist with questions.

Have just returned from a weeks family stay. which was very relaxing. We had two bungalows in the garden area which I feel is the best place, there are only 3 bungalows in that area and are all very secluded with a lovely outside eating area, bbq, seat hammocks and loungers. The beach is over a little foot bridge and past the sea view bungalows.
There are two deck areas overlooking the beach with loungers and chairs on and wooden steps down to the beach. This area is great as at high tide the sea comes almost up to the steps.
the bungalows are clean and spacious and are air conditioned.
The staff are all very friendly and helpful.
Next door to The Beachcomber there is a night market 3 nights a week where you can get a great meal from one of the many stalls.
There is a bus stop outside - the buses come roughly every 30 mins - one goes clockwise around the island and one anti clockwise. It is $8 for a return ticket but you can buy a ticket for $30 which gives you 10 trips.
Being the rainy season the weather was hit and miss but it was warm. We took a day trip to Aitutaki on one of the rainy days only to find the weather beautiful thee. Apparently it is often much drier there as there are no mountains. Probably would do a 2 centre holiday if we return and spend a few days on Aitutaki.
Apparently shops shut on a Saturday at 12 and don't open on a Sunday however some do remain open and next door to Muri Beachcomber is a 24hour store with the basics and some frozen meals.

Loved our time at Muri Beachcomber! We were well looked after from the moment we arrived at close to midnight off the plane - transfers directed us right to the room and we woke up with the most beautiful views of the lagoon.
Great access to amenities, bikes, SUP, snorkelling equipment and kayaks. One of my highlights is grabbing a kayak and paddling the deserted lagoon at sunset.
Having the Muri night market next door was awesome - so much great food to choose from. Plus a 24 hour convenience store, bus stop right outside and great brunch at Deli-licious just down the road.

Our family of 5 (kids 24, 22 and 20 years) had a fabulous 6 nights in 2 x seafront bungalows at Muri Beachcomber last week. The self-service set up with basic breakfast provided suited our family really well. The bungalows were serviced daily by wonderful staff. The spacious lawn and large shared deck areas over the beach gave the greatest number of bungalows a beach outlook of any accommodation we saw on the whole island. All windows had mosquito netting. We were right next door to both lagoon cruise companies - the only tourist activity we paid to do. We hired scooters and could drop them back at the rental company across the road from us. The night market 4 x a week was right next door. The complimentary airport transfers were another bonus. Shelley in the office could help with absolutely any queries/bookings including restaurants. The pricing was very competitive with other similar accommodation for a superior overall package (nothing is cheap in Rarotonga comparative to a previous holiday we have had in SE Asia). We thoroughly recommend Muri Beachcomber to other families travelling with older teenagers/young adults - our kids loved having their own bungalow.

First time visiting Rarotonga, we stayed for 7 nights at The Muri Beachcomber, as a couple, where we were upgraded to the sea view one bedroom self contained unit with air conditioning in bedroom and fan in living area. Lovely and clean accommodation, daily serviced except Sundays, with complimentary breakfast (bread and jams/cereals/ milk / juice), enough to keep you going until dinner. There are weber BBQ's outside the units to use. Friendly knowledgeable staff, free access to kayaks, SUP, snorkel gear, sand shoes and bikes. The guest lounge was air conditioned with a TV, with wifi and computer to use, DVDs to borrow (there are DVD players in units) and a honesty box, where you were able to get cold beer/wine, just write your name and pay later. Note no alcohol is sold on a Sunday, so the honesty box came in handy.
There is a Bus stop outside and opposite there is a place to hire scooters/cars. Beware of the extras when hiring - we were quoted $20 for 24hr hire of a scooter but ended up near $50.
There are plenty of cafes/bars/restaurants nearby. The night market is next door. Its was quiet when we went, only a couple of stalls, but locals say it can get very busy in height of holiday season.
The lagoon is right at the door, with amazing views of two little islands you can kayak and explore. Lots of friendly dogs on the beach (these are not strays). The rooster likes to give you an early call to catch the beautiful sunrise from the decking.
Fantastic location, friendly staff, relaxing paradise. Highly recommend staying here. Looking forward to returning soon.

We just came back from 8 days at Muri Beachcomber. Myself, hubby and teenage son stayed in one of the waterview 1BR units and found it perfect for our needs. Our son slept on a single bed in the lounge (MBC provided) and we had a separate bedroom.
The unit had everything we needed (2 burner hob, full size fridge, microwave), small couch and 4 chair dining set. I wouldnt describe them as spacious - just enough room to walk around the Queen size bed in the BR, but everything was clean and well maintained. They provide plenty of bath and beach towels and the shared facilities and gear (kayaks, SUPs, bikes, snorkel gear, pool, hammocks, lounge) are all really nice.
MBC offers daily servicing although you can choose to just replace towels if you want. They also drop off a breakfast pack with UHT milk, cereal, sliced bread and a nice selection of spreads (real butter, various types of jam, sometimes peanutbutter, honey and Marmite). They only carry tea and instant coffee in the rooms but supply a plunger. We were glad we brought a large bag of plunger grind coffee with us. Mornings with a coffee, toast a beautiful view were bliss. We ordered a 'bacon and eggs pack' for our first day which was waiting for us on arrival. There are shared Weber BBQs for every 2 units.
The grounds are spacious and gardens are immaculate. The location is great, right next to the Night Markets (not noisy, great cheap eats), with 2 cafes and the sailing club (pub food with great views) next door too. If you want to walk up or down the beach you can visit the Pacific resort or Nautilus for fancier options, but it pays to book. Seemed like most of the nicer restaurant were having big staffing issues due to COVID and staff going off to work overseas.
The snorkeling at Muri is not the best on the island, but it's adequate. Can be a bit cloudy and lots of sea slugs. We wound up taking kayaks with snorkel gear out closer to the nearby islands and snorkeling there (was quite a bit better), or you can catch the bust or drive to one of the marine reserves.
All in all we'd love to stay here again. MBC suited us - really comfortable and well located. Gorgeous views, nice rooms but not too fancy, well priced and friendly.

My husband and I just had the most relaxing holiday in this very laid back accommodation.
Lovely, friendly staff.
We stayed in an ocean view unit, which was very comfortable and clean. Only thing missing was some shower gel, but that’s all.
Perfect location for the night market, cafes and hotels for a cheeky cocktail or two!
There is a lounge available when you check out, complete with shower and towels, which means that you can enjoy the day knowing your luggage is somewhere safe. This was awesome!
Thank you for a fabulous break!! 😊

Kia Orana! The Muri Beachcomber is wonderful. We stayed in a Seaview room. Just a few meters to a lovely deck overlooking the beach that was in shade most of the day. Rooms have a refrigerator and a couple of burners, fixings to make tea or coffee and resort provides continental breakfast each day. There is a washing machine on site and handy clothes lines to dry clothes or wet bathing suits.
Beach is lovely and water is calm and warm. We could snorkel and see fish and a beautiful cerulean star fish just a few meters from shore. There are several restaurant options a short walk down the beach, or down the road and the Night Market had good food available 4 out of 7 nights. The Muri Beachcomber provides beach towels, snorkeling gear, water shoes, bicycles, paddle boards and kayaks to use and were very helpful in providing hints and recommendations.
We would definitely recommend this little piece of paradise to anyone lucky enough to visit Rarotonga!

We spent the first week in April in a Watergarden Villa at the Muri Beachcomber and would certainly return again. The property is in a great location right on Muri Lagoon and close to a small store and restaurants. The grounds are really beautiful and our "Villa" was in great shape and had all the amenities one would could want.
They supplied beach towels and had kayaks, paddle boards, snorkel gear and even reef shoes available to borrow. The staff was very friendly and helpful and we felt well taken care of. They always had wonderful fresh fruit available in the office.
We arrived very late and the transportation from the airport was all taken care of. The person who met us at the airport had the key and information to get us started (wi-fi info). Fresh flowers were in the room and breakfast makings (bread, juice, cereal and milk) were in the fridge. The unit itself was very nice with a stove, microwave, refrigerator as well as a toaster and french press (they supplied instant coffee and tea). We were in the back so it was very quiet and peaceful. I had been worried we might get some road noise, but did not.
Right across the street is a small rental car agency for cars and scooters. We had reserved a car for the week which made it very easy to explore a bit. The place is right next to the Muri Night Market which is open Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings. We did not have to worry about finding a place to eat on our first night. There are also a number of other small places withing walking distance. We tried both the Rickshaw and La Casita just a few minutes walk down the road and liked them both. We also had a couple of meals at the night market, both very good.
Right next to the Beachcomber is one of the two companies that do "Lagoon Tours",
We went with Koka Lagoon Tours (Catain Tama's is also just a short walk) and they did a great job.Be aware that the trips take a fairly large number of people so don't expect a small group. It was also fun to just go sit by the water in the morning while Koka Lagoon Tours was gearing up for their daily trip and listen to the music from the crew.
There is a 24 hour store a minute walk away and an ATM where you can get cash so no need to worry about it until you arrive at the property. I used my US ATM card with no issues (with a 4 diget PIN).
The water right in front of the Beachcomber is quite a clear and good for swimming or wading but do not expect too much snorkeling as the lagoon is pretty much all a sandy bottom. We did see a few turtles in close and were able to swim next to them. There are better snorkeling spots around the island
All in all, I'd highly recommend a stay at the Beachcomber.

The 2 bed units have a double bed in one room, and two singles in another, so 4 max, you will need to email the hotel to see what else might be possible.
Late reply mate but yes - lagoon was all good. Just got back from another trip and all ok apart from endless easterlies which chopped the lagoon up pretty badly, needed to get to other side for decent water
Late reply I'm sorry and I actually don't know - need to contact them directly I suspect
Cheers
Hi Bob, in regards to shops, Muri has a chemist, doctor, Post Office, gift shop, 2 small grocery stores that sell alcohol as well, ice cream shop, Fish & Chip shop & 2 cafe/bakeries. You have to travel to Avaru for bigger supermarkets, butchery, liquor stores etc. About 15 mins. by road
There weren't any children staying there when we went, but I can't imagine that children wouldn't be welcome. Mosstly it is one bedroom bungalows, so it isn't really configured for families very well.
