Kura’s Kabanas are situated in an excellent location in Rarotonga. A Waterfront lagoon property, short level walk to Muri Night Market, Te Vara Nui Show, small but adequate supermarkets, vehicle and scooter hire, dive shop, bakery and more.
There are 4 cabins, staggered and surrounded by vegetation, plus 2 family apartments ( on the first floor above the office, so there are steps to negotiate). It was lovely and quiet, the small number of rooms/cabins offered are in stark contrast to the many noisy busy resorts. Sitting on the BBQ deck any time of the day or evening it was peaceful and restful. You can easily walk to Muri Beach at low tide or use one of the property’s kayaks. There also also plenty of snorkels, masks and reef shoes if you forget your own.
We stayed in cabin 1 closest to the water. We had a twin bed configuration and the beds and pillows were very comfortable, not too soft, not rock hard. The kitchen had a stove, full size fridge, toaster, kettle, cutlery, crockery, pans etc. We did have to buy a sharp knife to cut fruits and tomatoes. The bathroom was a good size, clean, with a great pressure shower. Bath towels and beach towels were replenished daily if required. The lounge was quite uncomfortable and a rather strange shape but it worked as extra storage!
The best thing was the location, and the view from inside and also out on the generous sized deck. We spent hours there each day. We just walked one minute across the grass to the BBQ cabana and down a couple of steps into the water. There was plenty of seating in the roofed BBQ area and a good size BBQ itself.
Yes there are tiny, quick ants in the kitchen but as long as you seal everything, wash up straight away and wipe the benches they are not a nuisance at all. We were entertained by a number of hen, rooster and chicks scurrying around.
Being there in mid March it was HOT and HUMID. Having no air conditioning and having to keep the doors closed at night (no screens on the doors) to keep mosquitos at bay made the cabin really hot but we requested an additional fan which was promptly delivered and that made the nights bearable.
We would definitely return to Kura’s but in a cooler season.
There are dogs all over Rarotonga, pets. They are called Wandering Dogs, not Stray dogs: just ignore them and do not feed them. Watch out for them if you are driving or on a scooter or bike, they meander across the roads!

We had a lovely and very pleasant stay at Kura’s, very friendly and well maintained place. We loved that warm family business, we felt part of Ata’s family and the staff were so lovely too. It was very nice to have the kayaks available for a nice ride around the beautiful lagoon, very convenient location as you got the diving shop, bakery, convenience store next door. The Muri night market is at 5min walk from the accommodation. Can’t wait to see you guys again, you made our holiday very special ! Mira and Sylvie

Kia Orana, Great location for touring the island from. Kabana #1 is just a few meters from the water, best one out of the four. Faye – the manager was extremely helpful. She gave us her personal phone number to call if, after hours, we needed something. Which it turned out to be the case when we needed help lighting the oven one evening to prepare our dinner. There was a gas BBQ within steps of Kabana #1, which we used a couple of times. The kitchen was equipped with the minimum of cooking and eating items. Could have used lids for pots and pans.. We made due with the aluminum foil that was there. It had a microwave but no dishes or microwavable ware to cook with. With the plastic wrap we brought along with the dishes that were there, we were OK.. There were chickens and dogs everywhere. The dogs were real friendly. True beggar dogs. There were many different breads,Labs, herding dogs (NZ input obviously), etc. Most all we saw were healthy, some even had collars with tags on. There were coconut crab holes all over the place. Watch where you walk. Some of the crabs were very big and therefore their holes we also big. The hot water was solar heated, the problem was when you have cloudy rainy weather for a couple days straight you have no hot water for showers. Brrrrr. We are scuba divers, the dive shop was just about 75 meters down the road, an easy walk. Small convenience stores were near by. Lot of eating places also were near. You need to rent a car to get around.

It has already been a year since we found this beautiful piece of land, Rarotonga and Kura's Kabanas. Rarotonga really feels and looks like paradise and the owners of Kura's Kabanas make your stay just even more wonderful. They are really nice and we would like to thank Fay again that she refunded 100 % of our not consumed night because we decided to leave earlier due to the starting Covid-19 crisis in March 20. We have never met so lovely and generous people. Fay and her team are great and if you live in one of this Kabanas you never want to leave again - all you need to explore this island is a kayak which is included in your price and is just in front of the doorstep of your kabana.
Thank you again and wish you all the best from the other side of the world :) Jeannine + Benjamin

Finding Kura's Kabanas when searching for accommodation in the Muri area was my lucky day. The first bonus was the manager Fay who not only helped before arrival but continued to care for us throughout our stay. The location is great, was quiet, clean and we were lucky enough to be only 15metres from the lagoon. There are kayaks, snorkelling gear and beach feet available and the snorkelling immediately in front was really good. Value for money this couldn't be beaten and I would not hesitate to return to this provider.

Communication from Kuras Kabana's has been very good, easy to deal with. Unit 2 well equipped with everything you need. kayaks, reef shoes, outdoor bbq, plenty of outdoor seating, right on the Lagoon. Small criticism is only one chanel on tv and the vent on the roof needs bearing greasing as can be annoying on the night if you are a light sleeper as squeaks in the wind. Good location, handy for everything that Muri has to offer.

Wonderful staff. Good location, walking distance to everything but at private end of lagoon. Bus at door. Very clean and well equipped. Lovely gardens with many hibiscus and frangipani. Unpretentious and comfortable. Free kayaks a draw card. Would stay again. Excellent value for money.

This place was perfect! Not only were Robyn and Kura great hosts, the kabanas couldn't be anymore perfect. We stayed in the kabana which was the longest away from the lagoon however we still woke up and sat on the large deck and felt like we were on the beach.
The kabana was perfect for two people or a couple. Our kabana was clean, great big bed, all the kitchen utensils to cook meals, and the BEST deck to sit on to eat breakfast or dinner.
This place was relaxed and with only 4 kabanas and 3 family units, you had so much privacy and didn't feel like people were in your space. I have read complaints about the road noise but we stayed in the kabana closest to the road and we didn't have a problem. This location was perfect and even had its own section of the lagoon.
I couldn't speak highly enough of this place. We didn't have all the money in the world but for $150nz a night - we were given over and above of what we expected. A+
