Facing Mt. Fuji, this place of noble beauty remains still and serene. Repose in the forest of Kawaguchiko. Trees grown here have returned, their timber crafted for beauty and shelter. The lake laps at the shore, keeping time like a heartbeat. The forest breathes. Stars twinkle and the moon glows calmly. Leave scheduled time to regain nature’s time. Welcome to the forest of Kawaguchiko. All rooms are suites with a view of Mount Fuji and allow guests to admire the mountain scenery which transforms from one season to the next. Guest rooms feature open-air natural hot spring baths lined with volcanic stone from Mount Fuji and eco-friendly bioethanol fireplaces. Bask in the light of the dancing flames as the fragrance of the trees drifts in on the breeze at this forest getaway. We use local ingredients to prepare meals that vary from season to season. Please enjoy Japanese cuisine that can only be enjoyed here alongside Mt. Fuji’s volcanic stone and the aroma of the firewood.

Set in tranquil wooded gardens just above lake Kawaguchiko this is quietly luxurious with a natural feel enhanced by the plants and wood throughout the hotel
Rooms are very comfortable and can have a private spring fed onsen with a balcony - go for it for the privacy and comfort
Every room overlooks Mount Fuji with uninterrupted views framed by trees around the hotel . At night fire pits are lit and candles are everywhere
There are good English speaking staff although the clientele is predominantly discerning Japanese . Service is friendly and informal but very attentive
The food that comes as part of the package is of the highest quality , full of flavour and visually stunning . Some dishes are perhaps more challenging and a whole kaiseki dinner brings a lot of food - but they are very flexible to offer alternative choices and dodge food that you’d prefer to avoid
On tii hi is basis B I’d want to sample can other Fufu properties

5 star luxury plus a private onsen in your room. Staff members are enthusiastic and super helpful.

This ryokan is thoroughly modern and keeps in mind the requirements of a more modern and international clientele. They do not take your shoes as you check in, do not require payment of room rates upfront, etc. It is run more like a modern hotel.

The bar is a cozy corner where we enjoyed drinks before dinner. I only wish that they had more choices of cocktails.

Food here is fantastic. Innovative and very tasty.

Good sleep quality - beds are comfortable and pillows adequate.

All in all, a great stay. The Fufu ryokan chain will be opening new properties in the Nara and Nikko areas. Looking forward to seeing those.

My wife and I stayed three nights. An outstanding, upscale hotel with an amazing 1/2 board Japanese dining experience. Our spacious, private onsen equipped room, offered sensational views of Mt Fuji. We were fortunate to see it during most days we were there. I’m told, all rooms at Fufu offer Mt Fuji views; however, the higher level rooms offer an even better view. We were on the 4th floor and it was exciting to wake up and see Fuji. Please be aware that Mt Fuji is notorious for not appearing at all or suddenly disappearing behind clouds. Even though I gave the hotel an overall 5 star rating there were a few shortcomings:
1) Although all the staff are extremely friendly and polite, English was somewhat of a problem. If Fufu wants to cater for the English speaking market then they must invest in having staff that are more proficient with the English language.
2) I’m vegan and it took several email exchanges to convince staff that fish or dairy cannot be used. A hotel of this calibre should know . Moreover, even though some of the vegan dishes they served contained soy milk, I requested soy milk to use for coffee- they charged me to purchase it. This was very annoying as a top end hotel should also offer milk alternatives to cow milk.

Now, I must point out two strong positives regarding our dining experiences. The property has master chef Ryuichi IDE, whom we were fortunate to meet during our stay. This man is an incredibly talented chef and most likely of Michelin Star standard.
For me, he created the most unbelievable vegan food that was simply top notch and wonderful. My wife ( non-vegan) found his food creations and menu variations for each day, absolutely superb.
Fufu isn’t cheap, in fact quite pricey, but well worth it if you want to indulge!

Modern ryokan style accommodation that has wonderful views of Mount Fuji (weather permitting). At night in the spring they set up a bonfire outdoors which is a perfect setting for the scenery. All the rooms come with an attached outdoor hot spring, and those on the higher floors get a view of Mount Fuji as well. Breakfast and dinner are modern japanese style and showcase the wonderful flavors of Japanese cuisine. English is minimally spoken but we did not have any issues regardless.

Could be the best hotel to stay in KawaguchiKo. The view of Mount Fuji from the Lobby and the room on the 4th floor (top floor) is spectacular. The service is very meticulous executed with Japanese perfection. The food both breakfast and dinner by master chef Ryuichi is at the Michelin star level, well presented and tastes very good.

Surpass my expectation. Very cozy and well decorated lobby area gave great first impression. Followed by top F&B throughout the property. Room, including open-air hot bath, is tasteful and very comfortable. Great amenities. Beautiful Fuji-San view from all areas. At first I wanted to book another ryokan with prime Fuji view but it was full. But Fufu makes me not regretting at all. Truly great hotel overall.

There are not that many “true” luxury hotels at or near Mt Fuji, Fufu Kawaguchiko is truly one of the finest hotels in that area. It is located near Lake Kawaguchiko and if you like running, it’s less than 1km running steps away. The hotel’s decors center on nature and as you walk into the lobby, it’s planted with trees, wood and nature setting. Room is of decent size with quality amenities. The main restaurant overlooking the majestic Mt Fuji on a clear day and the outdoor balcony with the fire pits during winter times gives you the true nature feel of what winters in Mt Fuji is about.

On our first two days in Japan we decided to enjoy the Mt. Fuji and five lakes area at Fufu Kawaguchiko.

The experience has been exceptional and definitely 5 stars. From our check in, to dinning and accommodations we could not have asked for more. The staff is very kind and friendly and extremely respectful as expected in Japan. Although they speak very little english we had no problem communicating and everything was explained.

Dinning was definitely a unique experience for us but we were happy to experience new foods, flavors and traditions. The western type breakfast, which had Japanese elements, was by far the best meal. We were able to try new foods with a familiar flare.

The room was comfortable and the view was extraordinary. We couldn’t have asked for a more pleasant and unforgettable experience as we begin our journey in Japan.

The staff makes the Fufu one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at.

Thank you Fufu.

It was our first time in Kawaguchiko and we were glad to have chosen Fufu.

The hotel is surrounded by gorgeous views - from Mt Fuji to lots of greeneries. Check in was completed in the room, where you also get to decide on your meals and activities.

Our room on the 2nd floor was really spacious, clean and so comfortable. Of course, the view of Mt Fuji was the best part.

We were always greeted by the staff we encountered and they were generally helpful although language was sometimes a barrier.

Truly one of the best hotels we have ever stayed, definitely worth the splurge!

I am currently staying at Fufu Kawaguchiko resort. This is, by far, the most relaxing and well thought out immersion into the ‘Japanese Experience’ imaginable. The facilities are impeccable. The rooms, furnishings, grounds and view are beyond compare. Any service or need one may have has been anticipated and seems to appear before you think of it. And the food: locally produced healthy ingredients are crafted into culinary works of art that satisfy the appetite as well as the soul. I will be returning to Fufu Kawaguchiko whenever I need a reset from the world of business to a world of tranquility and culinary excellence.
