One of our top picks in Fujikawaguchiko. Boasting hot-spring baths with views of Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi, Asafuji provides air-conditioned Japanese-style rooms with a minibar and a green tea set. An in-room dinner can be ordered in advance, and on-site parking is free. The air-conditioned rooms at Asafuji Inn have Shoji paper screens and a low table with floor cushions. Each room includes a private toilet, and guests bathe at the hot-spring baths. Japanese-style futon bedding on a tatami (woven-straw) floor is provided. Massages are available, and the reception can store luggage. The public hot-spring baths are open from 06:00-09:30 and from 15:00-23:45 daily. Facing Lake Kawaguchi, the hotel is 2 km from Kawaguchiko Train Station and 10-minute drive from Fuji-Q Highland amusement park. Fujiomuro Sengen Shrine and History and Folklore Museum Katsuyama are also about a 10-minute drive.

We had the absolute best time at Hotel Asafuji, the staff were so welcoming and we had an absolutely fantastic experience. The communication prior to staying was 10/10, they made sure we knew they offered lifts from the train station to hotel and even directed us to the information centre who called them to confirm we were there and the time of collection. Amazing response time and one of the best stays I’ve had.

The room was ready for us early and they had taken our bags there already. The onsen looks out at an amazing view of the lake. The dinner they hosted was an incredible tasting dinner, and the service exceptional.

We felt very very looked after and welcomed. We slept so well and the room has amazing views. The breakfast was incredible and they kindly dropped us at the ropeway in the morning. I cannot recommend hotel Asafuji highly enough.

Great place great room! Nice view of Fuji from our room. Food was good. We had so much for dinner that we had to rest for an hour before going onsen again. We were well taken care of by the staff! Most of them are unable to speak English but there is a particular lady who can and we conversed with her most of the time! All in all, great value!

We had a great stay in Asafuji Hotel, we are happy with their good service , smiling facing , very helpful and the delicious dinner.

The room with a great view of Mt. Fuji and Kawaguchiko lake. The hotspring bath is also very good and make you feel relax.

Their service from the true heat is much better than the other hotels so called 4star 5star hotspring hotels.

The room price is reasonable and the dinner and breakfast are very good and well prepared.

I would recommend my friends to visit them.

Well done Asafuji Hotel team.

The photos staff have uploaded do not do this place justice - it is more beautiful than it is in photos.
I travelled alone. I had an excellent view of the river, and when craning my head I could see Mt Fuji.
The staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and do their best to help you relax the best you can.

Yes this place is quite expensive - the most expensive place I stayed at long my trip. I did stay at other traditional Japanese-style inns/ryokan along my trip, and though they were equally the same and much cheaper - the price is increased here as you are most definitely paying for the view.

I recommend waking up for sunrise - you're so close to the mountain and the lake you are almost obliged to - it was more beautiful than the sunset (as long as the mountain is not too cloudy).

My room had it's own private bath-tub which was a nice treat, in addition to the shared bath they have. The shared bath had lots of good quality skin products - I ended up buying some.

Staff offer complimentary pick up and drop off from kawaguchiko station.

I came from Tokyo, Shibuya --> Ootsuki (by shinkansen) then transferred to the Fuji express train (lovely train with great interior) which then took me to kawaguchiko.

My only regret is not having booked 2 nights! I only stayed 1 night, though feel 2 nights would have been just the right amount of time - I personally would not have needed more time as the town itself is quite small and there is not much to do around.

When me and my boyfriend planed our trip we only had one night and one morning in Fuji before our next stop. We wanted to stay at a ryokan and we knew it was going to be expensive. But having that experience is worth every penny. We contact the hotel and they picked us and another family up from the station in a van. They drove us to the hotel and showed us to our room. Unsure about the bathroom situation, we decided to pay a little extra to insure we had our own private bathroom and shower. We were told to take off our shoes when we arrived to our room. Our host poured us tea and we enjoyed our view of Mt. Fuji from our window. We had an 8pm dinner so we went to our gender onsens. The women's has the corner view so you can an even better view of Mt. Fuji ( totally worth it ). I found myself most of the time alone in the onsen and nudity was not an issue. I will say that please follow onsen rules. Clean your body with soap from head to toe.

When it came to dinner, all you have to do is go downstairs. my boyfriend and I changed into the robes provided in the room. ( I think we were the only ones wearing it but I didn't care because it was comfortable! ) You must be open minded and to trying all the different foods. This meal is served as a traditional Japanese meal. At first you think the portion size is small, but once everything comes out, you realize it's a big meal!

When you are done and go back to your room, you will find it transformed into your bed! It really was an amazing night. But don't worry, you get one more meal in the morning and it's just as amazing as your dinner from the night before. If you ask, they will drive you back to the train station too.

The owners are so wonderful and everyone tries their best to speak English. But being knowing a few words in Japanese is always a good idea.

In th lobby they had birds and little animals. I enjoyed them. They have vending machines as well in case you want a snack.

Me and my boyfriend made it a point to wake up 5:30am to walk outside by the lake and take pictures of Fuji. Because of the seasons, we didn't know if it was going to be cloudy later in the day, making it difficult to see Mt. Fuji. We got some awesome pictures.

This hotel is at a great location and for the experience of a life time, worth the money. We are already planning on coming back to Japan sometime in the next few years and we are defiantly going to be coming back to Asafuji !

We stayed at Asafuji recently and absolutely loved our stay and the experience. The staff were so accommodating and walked us through the Ryokan etiquette, much of which we were unfamiliar with and had to madly google beforehand.

The rooms are traditional style with modern bathrooms and I think all of them have a view of Mount Fuji, weather permitting. There is an onsen on the top floor (4th floor) which also overlooks the mountain and is divided by gender. Brush up on your Japanese characters prior to entering though as there are no English directions and my partner nearly headed for the female onsen. The females were the furthest from the elevator.

Breakfast and dinner is included with the accommodation, however dinner is huge so ensure you have a light lunch. As per tradition, you are required to wear a Yukata for meals. Make sure you wrap the right side of the Yukata around your body first and then the left, as vice versa is reserved for the dead.

Staff will email you before hand requesting details of your arrival as they will come and pick you up from the station and will also drop you off on departure. It was the only hotel we stayed in in Japan that actually allowed us to check in early. They apologised for their English skills in advance, however we found their skills to be quite good in terms of general communication.

The hotel has wifi, is in a good location and is directly in front of the tourist bus stop. It only takes 15 minutes to walk to the restaurants and tourist shops or 30 mins to walk to the station.

I can’t stress enough how lovely all the staff were, great place to stay and great experience.

Asafuji is located right on Lake Kawaguchi. From check-in to check-out, everything is smooth and well taken care of. Staff are super helpful and friendly. Room size is decent enough for 3 occupants. They offer pick-up service from the station. We ordered the dinner and breakfast (highly recommended to order both service) and they didn't disappoint. Being near the lake, it's really quiet at night, so it's great if you'd like to walk around the lake, however there's no supermarket nearby.

Mt Fuji can be seen on through the left side of the window.. better view of Mt Fuji can be seen from the lake

Hotel is small (13rooms) and thereby quite cosy. Staff is friendly and helpful. The Onsen is on the 4th floor and you should go as it has a nice view of Mt Fuji, especially during sunset. Food is above average. The one setback we had was a bad odor which we together with the Hotel trace it to their trap in the bathroom. Smell was unpleasant through they tried had to eradicate it. I was in room 306.

Thank you for contacting to us. We have a free picking up service. When you arrived at Kawaguchiko station, please call our hotel. We will pick you up in about 7 minutes. And after checking in, you can go to Mt. Fuji 5th station. Yon can take a bus to Mt. Fuji 5th station from Kawaguchiko station. If you would like, we will take you to Kawaguchiko station. But, in winter the bus may not go to the 5th station. Please ask the Information Center at Kawaguchiko station. Thank you. Hotel asafuji
