Just finished a delightful two night visit. Have enjoyed iconic views from my Mt. Fuji facing balcony, watching the mountain reflection in the lake in the early morning.
Food is splendid including the breakfasts and the kaiseki feast I enjoyed last night. Staff spoke English to explain the many courses to me.
Shuffle service is available from the train station but also to and from restaurants in the town where I dined after the concierge made a reservation for me on my first night.
I enjoyed two visits to the 2nd floor Onsen. The mineral water is clear and odorless. The rooftop bath which you pay extra for does not have mineral water.
Having clear weather has been the star of the show since the views of Mt. Fuji are the main attraction, but the Misno ticks so many boxes in terms of decor, staff, food quality, onsen experience and views that I would not hesitate to recommend it to friends visiting Lake Kawaguchi.

My biggest regret was not booking more than 1 night. We was lucky enjough to arrive when the clouds were clearing and we ere treated to a 2 hour uninterrupted and sunny view of Mount Fuji. The view from our balcony was delightful and the onsen was quiet, clean and very relaxing. The food was superb throughout, the traditional Japanese dinner was one of the best meals we enjoyed and the westernised breakfast was delightful (and great for those that find some of the Japanese breakfast options a little challenging so early in the morning). We loved the lounge area, the fun and colourful object d'art, paintings and photographs displayed with the vast array of art and design books on offer along with the complimentary coffee. This place definately warrants a 2 night stay, not just for the hotel, but to sample the many things this area has available in general. Only complaint was the roof top bar service was a little on the cool (chilly) side, however the rest of the staff were warm and welcoming and professional. Would love to come back here! Don't hesitate booking....there are good reasons for the excellent reviews - this place is an absolute joy to stay in!

We stayed 2 nights, and were so fortunate to have a clear day, for the most sublime views of Mt Fuji over the lake, take your photos early morning just magical. Loved the hotel, it felt very cosy, it’s like an old English hotel, with an eclectic art collection, comfortable leather lounges, great public rooms with open fires and lounges so you can sit and look at the view. The onsen is great, with the outdoor baths overlooking the Lake and Fuji. Convenient shuttle from station, you can arrange transfer by seeing staff in tourist office who will contact hotel, it only take a five minute drive.

At first glance, the Mizno scores points for its location, location, location. Located on a small hill on the north-eastern shore of Lake Kawaguchiko, the hotel offers perfect views of Mount Fuji from all rooms, the restaurant and, above all, the hotel's own onsen - if the weather plays along. If it doesn't (Mount Fuji itself is extremely moody and is often hidden in fog/clouds even in clear weather...) or something goes wrong, you'll find yourself far away from restaurants, conbinis or any infrastructure at the end of a brutally steep dead-end road in the middle of nowhere...
My partner injured himself a week before our stay, which we had already paid for in full, and we asked whether it would be possible to cancel the booking, even if it were subject to a cancellation fee, as we simply couldn't go through with our hiking and exercise program. Our request for a fully booked hotel resulted in: sure, we can cancel - for a 100% cancellation fee and please cancel as quickly as possible (shame on anyone who thinks anything bad about that...).
We went anyway and were at least rewarded with almost perfect weather. The service worked smoothly, all the staff were as friendly as usual. We found the breakfast, which was actually advertised as a buffet, strange: in addition to a salad, a bowl of fruit and a mini yoghurt, there was one (!) Egg Benedict for everyone. We felt a little ripped off for the price. The interior is also a matter of taste: they obviously have a soft spot for Old Europe: huge oil hams with bare-breasted women, the bar a mishmash of British library and bel epoque, brass stands everywhere and heavy leather armchairs - no idea what that's all about.
All in all, the rooms are pretty cheap for the location, and if nothing unforeseen happens, you certainly won't go wrong with the Mizno.

An absolutely lovely place to stay with outstanding views and even better staff!
Turning up to the hotel we had our bags taken away and they magically appeared in the room as we enjoyed a welcome drink. The roof top bar has one of the best views you could ever ask for, as a panorama it has to be up there thanks to the centrepiece that is Mt. Fuji.
The decor is eclectic, art everywhere, and it’s just a really lovely place to walk around and look at all the objects and trinkets.
Thursday and Friday breakfast closures are a bit lost in translation, you can still get a great toasted sandwich and drinks (tea/coffee/juice etc.).
There’s a shuttle bus to town in the evening but it’s an easy walk, and they’ll drive you to the station if you need it in the morning. We had a car, parking was easy and free, great to get further afield but you can also use hotel bikes.
Truly great stay, and definitely stay there again if/when we come back!
Thank you everyone at Mizno Hotel!

Felt looked after from the time we pulled up into the car park to when we checked out.
Waking up to a clear view of Mt Fuji was one of my highlights. The view of Mt Fuji and lake Kawaguchiko was phenomenal.
Also had the best time at the bar with Sammy the bar manager! He’s a really sweet and wholesome person :) He made us a matcha cocktail that was off the menu called the ‘Sweet Sam Matcha’ (would recommend)
12/10 experience

This is a very unique hotel with a lot of charm. The rooms are comfortable and the location up the hill away from the main road ensures a quiet stay and great views of Fujisan. The breakfast was the best we had in Japan. The best part of this place is the staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. One night, when we asked for a taxi, the restaurant we were going to was close to the station, so they offered to take us there in the hotel’s shuttle…so kind! Highly recommended!

My wife and I stayed at Mizno hotel from the 6th Nov 2022 - 8th Nov 2022 for 2 nights. How we wished it could have been longer. Every morning when we woke up we were greeted by the magnificent views of Mount Fuji which easily rivaled any other tourist spot in the Lake kawaguichiko area. From the moment we checked in we were greeted with warm hospitality by the staff. We were offered some tea while getting the check in sorted and throughout our stay we were greeted whenever we left for sightseeing or came back. I rented a car to drive around the lake area and we left our keys at the reception in case they needed to shift the cars. When we returned to park I saw there were 3 staff standing outside the parking area to guide us and get our keys. What a thoughtful gesture. The hotel has an in house onsen which we used twice. It has an outdoor onsen(my preferred choice) with views of fuji on a clear day. This was prob the best stay in my japan trip since borders reopened and I can't wait to be back sometime soon with the rest of my family.

Retro style hotel with direct view to Fujikawaguchiko lake and majestic mount Fuji. Room is clean, well maintained, and sound proof enough. We are staying at twin room superior on 2nd floor almost near parking lot but the sound of vehicle never disturb our stay. Shabu dinner great, breakfast also great, ala carte style, enough selection not much but enough, while seeing mount fuji in front of you. Recommend hotel.

Really great hotel to visit if you plan to travel to Mount Fuji. It was about 15 minutes from the main train station and the hotel would come and pick you up if you called them. They also had a timed shuttle to the train station, which was really excellent to get there and back from the main town.
The rooms were very clean and really nicely decorated. The hotel features a lot of art on all the walls and has an amazing library and bar in the lobby. It is really boutique style and was very very cool. We didnt eat in the hotel but understand that there is a restaurant that operates on some days and you need to book ahead. There are a number of good local Japanese restaurants within walking distance. The view out to Mount Fuji and across the lake from the hotel is amazing.
We took the bus from Tokyo to get to Kawaguchico Train Station, which is the most direct way to do the trip without having to change along the way. This is the closest train station to the hotel. The bus sometimes leaves from the building next door to Tokyo Station (which was a little confusing) and tickets could be bought on line in advance or at Tokyo Station on the day.
The hotel is a bit more expensive than I would usually stay in, but very good value for a luxury hotel in this area and a lot cheaper than the others. It was a great experience.
