The spacious Japanese room has a great view of Mt Fuji but the windows in my room cannot be opened so i could only take pics through the window glass. We are not used to sit long on the tatami floor and wish they had 2 more chairs with legs next to the window like most of the Japanese ryokans do beside the 2 legless chairs next to the big table in the middle of the room. The kaiseki dinner looks good and presentable but the taste is just alright. You won't go wrong with this hotel and the view is much better than those high-end hotels in Hakone due to the mirror effect on the calm lake in front of the hotel unlike the wavy Hakone lake.

This is the second time staying in Fuji Ginkei, while the first time was in 2017. The reason I chose it when I went to Kawaguchiko the second time was the perfect location, service, and food when I stayed in 2017. First, I should thank the hotel staff. As you might know, it is tough for solo travelers to book a Ryokan room. As a search around the hotel list, which I think is perfect for the stay, Fuji Ginkei is one of a few hotels which said OK. I appreciate it. The location is perfect as you can see the lake and mountain simultaneously. For Kawaguchiko, only a few hotels have this kind of view. When you arrive at the Kawaguchiko station, don't forget to call them, and they will pick you up. However, when you live, if you want to take their shuttle bus, you need to check their shuttle bus schedule. I choose the Japanese-style room which a balcony since I want to take many photos from my room. It is worth it as the view from the room is perfect. I can stay in the room and watch Mount Fuji all afternoon. It even has an individual bathroom in the room, which is kind of rare. If you stay in the hotel in Winter, don't forget to use the outdoor onsen. It will be freezing to get in and out, but it is worth it as you will see a very clear sky and many stars when using the outdoor onsen. You will never forget it. Moreover, don't forget to go lakeside, which is only a few meters away. You can take perfect photos of the lake, Mount Fuji and the stars. It is impressive. Service is as good as before, which you can imagine. When you are having breakfast and dinner, the staff will talk with you, introducing the dish and telling you much exciting and helpful information. For once, I was discussing さかさふじ with them and really learned a lot. The dish is good. As I stayed for two nights, I think the first night's dinner was better than the second. For breakfast, I don't have too many things to say. Overall, the dish tasted good but not as impressive as in 2017, maybe because I tried some Michelin during these years, which increased my standard. Overall, it is an excellent hotel, and the price is not that high compared to other hotels around Kawaguchiko. Once again, is it worthy.

The views of Mount Fuji are fantastic (as long as you get a clear day). Hotel itself feels old, but is good for a couple of nights as you really are there for the view. Staff were very warm and welcoming

Older Japanese Inn. Sensational views if the clouds cooperate. Luckily for us they did! Highlight of the stay was the wonderful staff in the dining room. Older and totally charming. Food was totally delicious. Onsen is a special experience as well. Not scary. Respectful. No one looks at anyone else. First experience for me.

Smaller Japanese inn, bathroom quite small. Room smaller than the first one but had a fantastic view of Mt Fuji. Collected our Yukata on the way to our room. Loved the beautiful spa/onsen, especially the open-air bath. The breakfast was Japanese, tasty but far too much to eat. The tatami mats were a bit harder than the first ryokan we stayed.

I guess this hotel operates quite a long time so the room is not very new.in general I love the public onsen that face the Fuji mount. The dinner was really full and we have tried quite a lot different food and they are delicious too! What could have improve was the dinner service,we feel like we are neglected as the full room are Japanese and the waitress just seems rushing our dishes and that is really different from what I have experienced in other onsen hotel in Japan. Also we have dropped a note in our room to ask for cleaning the trash while we have dinner, but end up its still there when we back to our room.

Beautiful outdoor onsen, overlooking Mt Fuji. There are both outdoor n indoor onsens. Avoid staying at L7, as its the level for onsen. So the corridor tends to be noisy when guests go onsen. Very warmth n friendly staff attending to us. We check-in pretty late, she asked if we had dinner. Explained to us many hotel info, tour bus to maple leaves festival etc in a mix of very basic English and Japanese. She was very cute, taught us to count in Japanese when we board the lift. Brought us to the room and showed us everything in the room. We have a very beautiful view of Mt Fuji from our room. Separate toilet and bath. Tiny toilet. Small bath. We booked a Western room which comes with a 2 twin bed and a huge 'living room' *which can fit abt 4 futon beds.

We stayed here in this ryokan for 2 nights overlooking Lake Kawaguchiko and the most amazing view of Mt Fuji. Our room had a huge window and you could just raise your head to see the iconic mountain. We did have Western beds in the ante-room but then tatami mats in the other part. Bathroom was fine if a little small, separate toilet in the room. The breakfast and dinner inclusive. Was an intricate Japanese breakfast with raw fish and lots of other dishes. Then came the multi-course Kaiseki dinners which were just incredible, so intricate with just delicious flavours. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful even without a lot of English. The local bus stop is just outside that will take you to all the scenic spots around the lake. But the most amazing is the rooftop open air hot spring bath with the most incredible view of Mt Fuji. There were hardly any people when we visited this so just an incredible experience!!!!! The whole stay was just magical!!

Food is wonderful, the staff is super nice. Everything is wonderful until I found people taking photo during you enjoying your hot spring bath. 15 Feb morning the hot spring bath is extremely full. A Asian girl who wearing clothes taking photo while we enjoying the hot spring bath. A girl asked the girl the spring is not allow to take photo. And the carema girl looks anger. Later another Chinese girl also taking photo by phone during she is bathing. Another Girl use English to stop her. Honestly, the hotel has signage to remind the Chinese customers. But the Chinese people ignore the signage. Also your are helpless in the hot spring because you can’t find any staff helping you. If you minded people taking photo during you are taking hot spring bath. Don’t come.
