Detailed Reviews
The room was clean and had all we needed, location to airport/Cairns good, breakfast healthy and YUM. We, including our little dog had a wonderful stay, thank you Linda. Accommodation is not fully self-contained no washing machines, irons, stoves etc. The rooms have TV, small fridge, private bathroom/toilet and all the personal amenities for a short stay. If you ask for the use of an iron or to do some washing - you will have access.

Lilybank is a hidden gem close to the city without the inner city vibe. This open spacious beautiful Queenslander makes you feel the comfort of home with a private feel. Linda takes pride in this place and you can tell with the beautiful decor and well kept grounds. The pool area is such a tropical escape with a feel you are in the jungle. Serene and peaceful. The rooms are clean and comes with accommodation that makes you feel at home. Debb the care taker is super friendly and always there to help if need be. I highly recommend this place for anyone who wants the tropical escape but yet close to the city.

This establishment is located close to the Cairns Airport.
But what sets it apart from all the rest is the above and beyond efforts of the manager Jeanette.
While staying here one of our occupants experienced some difficulties. Jeanette traced down their contacts and drove them to pick up lost items. Her care and concern is to be commended and not often found in most establishments.
Please give this small business a chance next time you come to Cairns.
Thanks Jeanette.

On arrival a woman appeared from this guest house, who turned out to be the owner, dressed in what looked like pyjamas. She ignored us and loudly and angrily berated our taxi driver. We had to find our own way to the room since she continued to ignore us. The room had several problems. The floor is different levels between the bathroom and bedroom, with a nasty lip that can cause toe stubbs. There is a glass door to the outside but has no blind to stop light getting in, so if you like it dark forget it. You can't make tea/coffee in your own room, or at least not in ours. The ceiling fan was disgusting, so thank goodness we didn't have to use it. And to top it all off there is some dreadful, and apparently unfixable high pitched alarm going off all night long - ensuring a terrible night. The only saving grace is the soft bed.

I would recommend this place to anyone, and especially to those wanting to be close the the airport for morning flights. It’s a 10 minute drive, if that. Beautiful old heritage Queenslander. Lush garden, cool pool, lots of places to sit, eat, read etc. bed very comfy, very clean, charming and quaint and Debbie lovely and breakfast granola and fruit concoction magnificent. LOVED everything about this place.

Mike and Pat Woolford run an outstanding b&b just outside of Cairns and within hooting distance from the most amazing "Great Barrier Reef" and several agencies offering trips out to the reef...with snorkling, submersibles that take you under the water and along the reef. Just beautiful. Breakfast is wonderful, what you want with a menu, no less. And Pat and Mike are gracious to a fault. Contact them at ------ They answer their emails personally. It's a 'grand old lady', she's been done up to the 21st Century and she retains all her charm and grace, just like Pat and Mike and the fabulous 'help' that were so welcoming to us! If you want pristine and modern and CBD, this is not for you -chooks crowing in the morning, a bright green frog looking like its not real, a St Andrews spider I moved off MY balcony and great brekkie conversations are what's in store. Clean, tidy and a great sleep. Taxi - $22 from the Casino @ midnight.

I enjoyed staying in the cottage this last trip to Lilybank as it gave me a lot of peace and quiet and also privacy and I did not feel bad when I was up during the night watching DVDs as well as no one else would have heard me.
Breakfasts were a great affair with a wonderful selection of hot meals from the menu together with lovely fresh and unique tropical fruit, jams, cereals, tea or coffee and yoghurt, croissants etc etc, enough to last till the end of the day when I would relax in the poor before a shower and short walk to one of the lovely restaurants/eating places.
I was lucky to have a beautiful and friendly little gecko just outside my door which I named Gerry and who would love me to feed it with ants that I found when there was the chance of rain about, always something that one has to be aware of anywhere in the tropics and I guess without those things there would not be the wonderful advantages of the tropics with the diverse flora and fauna.
Mike and Pat are treasures and nothing seems to phase them at all. Pat is a font of knowledge about all the tours and will book anything for you at the best rate available. It always pays to get local knowledge.
All in all I would recommend Lilybank to anyone who likes to be in a friendly environment with people who care.

We (family of four incl. two under 12 girls) stayed at Lilybank. The room was great. Breakfast (especially Mike's lambchops) rivals any restaurant. The tropical fruits were great. Pat goes the extra mile to make sure that we were well taken care of, from booking tours to even doing laundry. Wish we could stay longer. Plus, their two dogs just love kids. Stay there and you will not be disappointed.

Just returned from seven days at Mike and Pat's Lilybank B&B just outside of Cairns, actually in Strafford, and about six miles from the airport.
They have been running their B&B for seven years and they do it right. Clean rooms private baths and four star menu breakfast every morning, do not miss Pat's bananna pancakes they are the best.
Pat is also a tour guide and she can set you up for the best tours for the Reef and going north. Most of the tour buses will stop in front and drop you off after. The location is about fifteen minutes by bus to the center of Cairns. Good restaurants are with in walking distance, note all but one are closed on Sun. and Monday.
Highly recommend.

Hello Lilybank is 7kms from Marina. Some boats pick you up from Lilybank. We can take you there if we are not too busy. You will have to catch a bus or taxi back to Lilybank in the afternoon. There is also a bus stop out front that leaves on the 1/2 hour if you are catching a late boat eg 8 or 9 am. A taxi from Lilybank to Marina will costs approx. $25.
Kind regards Linda
