We arrived in Blagoevgrad on our bicycles, after a rather difficult day of climbing from Strumica and thru Berovo (in Macedonia). We were happy to get to the city, looking forward to shower and not really in the mood to explore to find a fine restaurant. Even before seeing the menu, we had settled to eat at the hotel restaurant. But even with the exact lat, long coordinates on the GPS, we could not find the place. We went up the steep hill twice, walked, asked, backtracked, it was a mystery. I think cyrillic alphabet did not really helped here, but there is no clear indication if you arrive from the street. We localized it halfway up the side hill, but then again, it was a challenge to get to the reception. It felt like geocaching, but we made it and from then on, it was an amazing experience. The women at the reception were all smiles and very efficient. Rooms are charming, confortable and just the right size. Again, we were wasted, so we went directly to the hotel restaurant. We were alone in this beautiful dining room on this weeknight. We had a private visit of the wine cellar and could go pick our fine bottle ourselves. This fine dining was a great cap on this epic bike trip. The menu is very interesting and the dishes are prepared and served with warmth. You feel like you are in a top-class place, but with an intimate down to earth feeling. I highly recommend the restaurant, even if you don't sleep here. We took a small walk to the pedestrian area which is beautiful and just around the (very well hidden) corner from the hotel. The breakfast (included with the room) was in the same way. This is no buffet, but you pick whatever you like from a fine list. All that said, I wish they had better indications to their front door, but once you get there, just let them take care of you from dinner to breakfast.…
Almost impossible to find, even with a satnav. The road which leads to it looks like a dead end lane. Would it be so difficult to put up a sign on the main road? We had a large comfortable room, with a modern bathroom with a proper shower cabinet (unusual for Bulgaria which tend to be the 'wet room' variety). Unfortunately what let the hotel down was the breakfast. The young girl on duty clearly had no idea how to cook eggs, and even that hot food should be served hot. It was left lying while she went off in search of cutlery, and then brought to our table. Completely inedible. No refills of tea or coffee were on offer. Restaurant was also closed when we were there. Maybe summer is the 'off season'. As an aside, we stayed in Blagoevgrad due to its proximity to the nearby Rila Monastery, not for any attractions in the town itself. We discovered there were many hotels on the road to the monastery which would have been much more convenient, but they do not feature on any western booking site. I guess they can only be booked direct the old-fashioned way.…
We really enjoyed staying here,it was so comfortable, the staff welcoming. The food was really yummy and a good selection of fish dishes. Our room was so nice, beautiful bathroom. The hotel was a bit difficult to find. Just a short walk to the town center, over the road..
We and our friends booked this hotel for New Year's eve. The hotel is close to city center. Rooms are nice decorated and warm. We were very disappointed by the quality of the programme in the evening and the meals. The portions were skimpy and not tasty. The singer was devoid of any emotion or humor. He was singing only old and slow Bulgarian songs. The next two days the restaurant was always closed so we had to go out to eat. We had small kids with us and it was cold outside. Overall we are disappointed with our stay and we will not return back in this hotel although it looks very nice and offers comfortable rooms.
We came to Blagoevgrad for a friends' wedding and Varosha was chosen for us. We were quite impressed with the quality of the room and it was definitely four stars. We had a very large bedroom with a huge living space. The bathroom was big and designed with taste. We really liked the decor in our room, which was classy and exquisite. The food served at breakfast and dinner was really good. We even decided once to eat in the hotel rather than explore the city's restaurants because we really wanted to have dinner at the hotel restaurant again. The only issue we had was finding the hotel, as it wasn't well marked. Parking is also a bit of an issue.
