Novotel Barossa is a great place for family holidays with something for everyone. It has an amazing view and lots of frequently visiting wildlife (e.g. wallabies, birds, echidnas and kangaroos). The hotel also has plenty of great facilities including, a tennis court, basketball court, heated pool, Giant chess, ping pong table, gym and playground for free as well as a golf course with equipment hire and bike hire for different prices. The rooms are a standard hotel room and have a small kitchen one bed and one bathroom it is $45.00 to get another bed. The extra bed had been folded and the springs had burst so the bed was very uncomfortable until we put a blanket under where I was sleeping. The rooms are serviced each day and outside each unit there is free parking if you have a car.

Complementary to the room you get one free wine tasting for the adults. At the wine tasting there are some games set up for the kids there is beanbag toss, ping pong, connect 4 and giant Jenga. There is a breakfast buffet at the restaurant each morning for $25 per adult and kids eat free but you have to book the day before. If you don’t go to the restaurant to eat it is a short drive through the countryside, passing lots of animals, to get to the nearest town which has multiple restaurants, information centre and food land (shopping centre).

The only things I would improve are the extra beds but overall the staff were very reliable and helpful and the hotel is a lovely place. Novotel Barossa is a great place for families. If you are a very large family Novotel Barossa might not be the best place for you but overall it’s a great place to stay.

We stayed for 3 nights and honestly the amount of money you pay is not worth it especially during covid.
Considering the in house endorsed spa wasn’t open Monday to Wednesday, I feel we really should have been informed of this at the time of booking and that the price should have been discounted as result. You’re basically paying for the golf course regardless if you play golf or not.
Check in was easy and polite but other than that it’s a pretty standard venue with a conference attitude.
Breakfast on day one was lovely however once we had ordered and received our food we were not approached again or offered any tea or coffee and only got juice because we requested it when we walked in.
We ate in the restaurant on night two (Tuesday) due to a number of local eateries being closed due to covid.
After being seated and given the menu, the waitress appeared 10 minutes later to advise she had given us the weekend menu not the week day menu.
My husband and I ordered a cocktail each.
My husbands arrived, and the Barman came over and asked what what I had ordered. I could tell he hadn’t understood what I asked for and saw him going through the cocktail menu at the bar trying to find what I ordered.
My drink eventually turned up.

The food was mediocre at best, I’ve had better food in a pub.
Everything had a lack of flavour depth and lacked seasoning.
The smoked salmon didn’t have horseradish as stated.
I’m not sure what the apex bread crisp was but it had no flavour at all and looked like undercooked squashed bread.
The steak was well cooked and tasted lovely but again the rest of the food lacked flavour or seasoning and again the attentiveness was not really there.

Shared dessert, again, lacking what the menu promised.

We ordered room service later on - 1 x pizza which took an hour to arrive.

The last night we ordered room service as we had no other choice of restaurants to go to in the area.
The club sandwich and burger were nice and nothing different to what you would expect from a standard hotel menu.

For what you pay and what you get I think there are better places around.
I definitely won’t be returning.

Hi B0b1314, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at the Novotel Barossa Valley Resort. I am very sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations, in particular in The Cellar Kitchen and please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. At Novotel, we strive to provide a superior service experience for every guest therefore your feedback is very important to us. Just to clarify the Endota Day Spa and the Tanunda Pines Golf Club are separate entities to the Resort so we do not control their opening hours, nor does their use or lack of use for our guests influence our rate pricing. Please be assured that we are constantly reviewing our food & beverage offering under the new rules of COVID-19 (ie no buffets or multi touch coffee machines) and taking the appropriate measures to address any issues to prevent future occurrences. We appreciate your sharing your concerns and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future. Kind regards Natalie Bussenschutt General Manager

We stayed for our first visit to the area. The room was great, very clean, and had a lovely view. The fly net door was a tad tricky though.

We dined and had room service. The food in the restaurant was tasty for hotel fair, and the wine choices were very good as you would expect.

A couple of things however: there were tables near the front to get a lovely view and even though available, we were sat at the back and had to ask to move. Seems they were keen to set up for breakfast as opposed to turn them over. Convenience over customers.

One night we sat on the veranda for dessert, which was pleasant however the second time, both doors were locked. A few other guests also walked up and tried them. It was a lovely still evening but another guest said it was locked off as the doors being opened was annoying some diners?!

The room service was okay, very slow though and charged $5 for 2 mini pieces of bread with butter. Chips not seasoned and no salt provided. Next time I wouldnt use this service.

Overall, I would stay again, yes. It isnt 5 star and doesnt claim to be, I just think a bit of thought could make it a better customer experience.

This was a complete let down from the start to the finish. What was meant to be a nice family getaway to celebrate my dads 70th birthday was a complete disaster. From being told I received a room upgrade as part of my Platinum Accor status to finding out the rooms were exactly the same for other guests travelling with us is disappointing. Then again, this property is one of the few that really fail to look after loyal members on the many occasions we’ve been. We sat down poolside for a pre dinner drink and only one staff member serving what would have been in excess of 50 people and we gave up on ordering drinks it was taking that long. My daughter cut herself on shattered glass that hadn’t been taken care of and the staff already knew about but no one could help clean it up. Instead our party guests and others helped pick up all the glass that remained in the area. On our first evening, we had a booking for dinner which was a disaster, 6.30pm sitting and we received our meals at 7.54 which was a complete joke and seriously thought about leaving. My food was good but 3 family members returned their steak as they were given such a poor cut that was not enjoyable at all. The staff member serving us for the evening had a clear attitude problem and was insincere with the poor apology we received. The next morning for breakfast, it wasn’t recognised that had breakfast included as a platinum member, which understandably can happen but then it still wasn’t recognised on our second morning. The breakfast was extremely average and I think all guests returned the bacon as it was barely cooked and inedible. Kylie at the front desk assisted us with some of the issues during our stay but the issues kept piling up. On checkout, I was told I still had $55 outstanding for accommodation, I queried this as we pre paid the full amount before arriving. This was supposedly rectified, however I then received the email bill amount stating I had been charged the additional fee that was meant to be removed. I have contacted the hotel for response but yet to receive a response. This was an absolute disgrace of a stay. I have another stay booked in a few weeks time and I’m seriously considering cancelling as I really have no desire to waste our money to be disappointed once again.

Novotel Barossa 29/4/2022-3/5/2022 (3 nights).

We had requested a ground floor room close to reception due to Tess’s medical needs. There are no lifts so having to up and down stairs would have caused a lot of pain, very grateful that the staff were able to accommodate this.

We had room 122 which is right near the stairs which we thought may be an issue with sound but it wasn’t.

Our room overlooked the valley and we had a lovely little balcony, because we were out most of the days, we didn’t use it but would been nice in warmer weather.

We had a Standard Studio room with King sized bed. It was quite spacious, lots of room to move around, a nice couch/chaise and separate desk (with only 1 chair). The kitchen area had a microwave with kettle and toaster. Minimal cutlery, would have liked a bottle opener and maybe large glasses but it was sufficient.

The bed was really comfy, the pillows (there was a menu but the options they had didn’t suit so we made do). We both slept well all nights which was great.

The aircon only goes down to 20c, might be an issue in hot weather but it was fine for us. Very impressed with the curtains, as our room faced east with sunrise, we didn’t find that invasive which was great.

We ordered room service each night, the menu is little but it had the basics we needed (as we’d been out to lunch each day), the fries are amazing, very hot, crispy and perfectly seasoned. There isn’t a delivery charge through their app which is nice. We got the fries each night, we got a cheese and garlic pizza one night which was lovely, not too cheesey and had a nice hint of garlic. We also ordered a salad one night which was huge and very fresh. If there had been a burger or steak sandwich on the menu we’d have opted for that over the pizza but the closest was a club sandwich with chicken and smokey bacon which didn’t appeal.

The cleaning team did a great joy whilst we were out each day and the reception staff were very friendly and helpful in the lead up to the trip and during.

Great place to stay, easy parking, friendly and great sleeping.

Staying in the Barossa for our honeymoon, thought the Novotel would be a good spot. Staff were unfriendly, and the $70 a night upgrade to the spa room was underwhelming, would have been better off spending the money at the endota spa.
The restaurant was also a let down. We ordered pasta and the ribs, the pasta was over cooked and looked like it had been sitting there the whole time they cooked the ribs.

We had booked initially for April School Holidays but COVID forced delay till October. Overall we had an excellent stay although poor weather meant we couldn't use the pool (and I would question continuing to call the pool heated as that implies it is warm-whereas this pool was a few degrees less cold than freezing). Rollaway bed was in the unit as requested and although a little tight the three kids were happy). Fittings and furnishings were of a high standard although I note there did not appear to be any heating/cooling in the second room but there was an additional vented fan plus the reverse cycle in the main bedroom and living room. I disagree with other reviews calling the rooms run-down. Ours certainly wasn't. Housekeeping was excellent and discreet throughout our stay (even arranging the kids toys on at least one occasion). We ate in the restaurant several times and had breakfast there every day. Appreciate the impact of COVID and no buffet but breakfast service was hit and miss (some staff were excellent but some were clearly not used to table service and it showed (and I have a strong background in Hospitality)- we were forgotten at least once and several minor forgotten dishes). Food however was generally excellent and assistant managers Tom and I think Meagan went above and beyond. Aside from the service issues I did note that the Thai Green Curry which I ate twice didn't seem to have any seasoning or 'bite'. I could have served it to my young children it was that weak in terms of taste. Loved the takeaway cardboard containers and our takeaway breakfast on last day was excellent As Platinum members we received the obligatory drink vouchers and chocolate gift in the room and that was fine. I do note that screen sharing on the in room TVs is only allowed for Android devices and excludes all those using Apple devices (like us). Didn't detract from our visit but would have made it much better. We used a local Babysitting business through FB run by a farmers daughter (Teddy Bear Picnic) and had a lovely sitter look after the kids in the room a half dozen times. Thoroughly recommend for parents wanting to get out by themselves! Overall great stay and look forward to returning one day!

Wonderful resort in the hear of the Barossa Valley. An easy drive to all the beautiful little towns that make up the Barossa Valley. Great size room, lovely balcony. Paid an extra $1 per person, per night for a full buffet breakfast, can’t ask fo better than that. Plus breakfast went til 10am, wonderful when you are holiday. Free bottle of water every night, an in room Nespresso machine and real milk in the fridge complimentary. An evening wine tasting every night and super friendly staff. Would absolutely recommend this place for couples and families.

Friends arranged a birthday getaway, they booked rooms which were lovely and dinner + breakfast.
Beautiful views from the dinning room but that’s where it stops. The initial waitress showed us to our table of six at 7:15pm and named another waitress who would be ‘looking after us for the night’ soon after a waitress come and took our meal orders (entree & mains) as well as first round of drinks. Entree arrived soon after, plates cleared and then dinner was served. We did not see any wait staff from then on. No plates cleared and left dirty on our table even though most of the other patrons had left. No more drinks served, water had to be requested at 9:45pm, waiter brought us the bottle of water and then went to walk away when I made a point of our plates being ready to be cleared! No offer of desserts which we were contemplating, however at that time I’m sure the kitchen had most probably finished service. Seeing as it was a long over due catch up, we’d planned to have a round of cocktails or at the very least another bottle of wine. We ended up settling the bill and went back to our rooms for a night cap. Entrees were nice, mains very underwhelming, steaks well over cooked and other other meals lacking excitement.
Breakfast is buffet needing to be served my staff which meets covid requirements, but most of the time was just one staff cooking toast and serving hot foods by request.. even when large line ups!!! Should be two as a minimum, only occasionally a second come to help!! Another poor example of customer service. I thought of booking to come back to stay in the warmer months for our anniversary but I definitely don’t see value for money which is a shame.

In general the rooms were tidy, staff very polite and accommodating, facilities were good. A few areas for improvement both for the customer and for profitability of the company,
1. While attending dinner, the first question was in regards to our meals, no drinks were offered as a start and after 30 minutes of not being asked about beverages I went and collected 2 bottles of wine from my room (purchased through the Novotel), and the table of 6 had wine.
2. While being around the pool in the afternoon there were no drinks being served or any music being played. Another area where on a 42DegC day could have attributed to a great stay.
3. No plant based meals on the menu however happy to make a vegan meal to suit the dietary requirements of 3 people at dinner, $34 for two mushrooms was a little excessive, however we were onto the two bottles of wine at this stage so let it go. Meals were absolutely amazing, just needed to be a little bigger. A steak was the same price but huge compared to the plant based meal.

I am not sure about any of the available options. We believed that the price we paid for the rooms ought to have been enough to include breakfast, but that was not the case. We travelled into Tanunda each morning and had a nice breakfast at the "Blackbird Coffee House".

This would be entirely up to the hotel, ring reservations or send email, most would offer full payment on check in, or full payment up front not half and half.
