Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a spectacular visit to Ko Pu because of our accommodations at Banyan Bay Villas. Our villa was the large one with 2 beds and 2 baths and it was clean and cool. We especially loved the deck with comfy recline chairs. The staff was extremely accommodating and the food was 10/10. This is a traditional, rustic setting right on the sea. We rented scooters and explored the island. We began our trip in Tokyo then on to 2 weeks all over Vietnam and ended at Ko Pu which was, by far, our favorite part of the nearly month long vacation.

Room Tip: The pool isn’t really a feature if that’s the kind of place you are looking for. Rent a scooter.

A dream, a small complex with lots of charm. We were only there for three days and felt at home. The staff are very friendly and courteous. Like the view, the food is a dream, we would have loved to order the whole menu. Can only recommend it. We will be back

Unfortunately this place is a one star rating. When we arrived the staff looked puzzled to see us. We were ushered to our room only to find that there were dirty dishes in the bathroom sink, there were ants everywhere (even in the sheets which looked like they hadn't been washed) and the door to our room wouldn't even lock. The pool was not functional (very gross) and the upstairs restaurant had ants running all over the tables. If you like peace and quiet, that it was, but no effort in cleanliness whatsoever. The water is very, very rocky so be careful.

Villa badly maintained. For 5 days the water leaked out onto floor in the bathroom leaving us to stand in water when using it. Breakfast offering limited and not what you expect when paying top dollar as you can chose 1 item from breakfast menu. Pool area not user friendly as on many levels with no decent access and seating areas never cleaned. Pool bar bell didn't exist and no service. If you needed something you had to mount some steep steps to reception with no real railing. Resort not for guests with mobility issues.

A very special place with very special people. Banyan bay villas was just so lovely with the most lovely staff and owner. The food was fabulous - made and presented with such love and care. The villa was very spacious and the view and sound of the sea and the jungle amazing to wake up to. We feel very lucky have experienced this place. We hired a moped and explored the island which was really easy and great fun. We met some locally local people and enjoyed watching the monkeys. We also went on a four islands tour and even swam with sharks thanks to our great guide and driver. A special mention to Jack and his wife who looked after us so well and also Kitima the owner who is fabulous. If you want relaxation, kind service and a real experience of local life then do consider Banyan Bay- there is a very good reason for the good reviews.

We stayed here for four nights in January 2020 and overall the hotel is very good. Want to point out that the staff has adequate English skills, the premises are guarded at night with an on site guard. The staff is friendly and helpful. The on site fitness center is top class with free water and towels. Big shower facilities and few people using it. Nice view too! Checking in was simple despite us being an hour early. Arriving to the pier via speed boat it took us only about 4 minutes to reach the hotel on foot. The breakfast is as any hotel breakfast, although significantly better than our other stays in ao nang and Railay. Big selection of American breakfast. The rooms are roomy, with a nice balcony and simple decor. The shower was amazing with high pressure water, usually not common here. Cleaning services are good, you get free water in the minibar every day. Beds are alright although one mattress was really hard and the other one really soft. The only problem with this hotel (which is why I have it 4/5) is that the walls are super thin and it gets really really loud at night even when people just walk around in the rooms next to you and outside. I woke up several times a night from the noise and I’m a pretty sound sleeper. Really a shame since everything else is great here. The hotel has a simple pool, sadly it was overfilled with screaming kids though. It’s a family hotel so I guess that’s to be expected. Really close and central of you want to explore phi phi don and the other islands/activities available from the various tourist counters.

A beautiful place to stay and have a relaxed and quiet time. We loved it! We stayed in 3 different villas (thai wood style), all of them had a different nice charm. Breakfast is included and you can choose between different meals (Thai, international, western, healthy) and tasted very good. The Managerin and her staffs are so friendly and helpful, I have not enough words for this! Thank you for all! You are amazing. Hope we will see us again. Manuel & Lisa

We stayed at the lovely Banyan Bay Villas for 4 nights in the Orchid Villa. It was an extremely comfortable and roomy villa. The traditional design is really beautiful. The bed was very comfortable and the fans did a great job at night time. There were mosquito nets supplied but they were not used or necessary. We slept extremely well on all nights. The local troop of monkeys passed behind the Villa every day supplying much amusement. The beach at the property is just stunning. Plenty of trees to hide under to shade from the sun while lying on the beautiful bamboo beach bed. The water is free from rocks, unlike many other areas of Koh Jum, making swimming delightful. You did have to pick the tides as it does go out a lot at low tide. The available free kayaks are a lot of fun. We ate at the restaurant 3 of the 4 nights. The food was superb. All dishes we ordered were made with obvious care and attention to detail. It seemed to be very authentic fresh Thai food. The wine selection was very good. All prices in the restaurant were extremely reasonable. We ate at a Koh Jum seafood on the other night on recommendation from the staff, and it also was superb. We hired mopeds from the hotel and they were in great condition. You don't really need them but they were great to have a look around the island. All the staff were so very friendly and helpful. Nai was a standout, she obviously really enjoys her job and does it so well. Kitima, the owner, was such a great person to meet. She just loved a laugh, and loved her property, and also you could see the care she had for all her staff and guests. She had such an great ethical outlook on the resort, her staff and the island. Oh and we can't forget Kitima's dogs, Banchee and Mila. What happy and silly dogs. They enjoy their life. Our visit to Koh Jum was fantastic, made more so by where we stayed. Hope to see you next year.

We did not stay in the hotel, rather stopped at the restaurant for drinks and a snack, to watch the sunset. But would definitely consider the hotel as it was in a lovely spot. Drinks were good, not too expensive, and we tried a specialty snack that was lovely....staff wonderful. Clean bathroom!
