Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Huge conference hotel that was in its prime 30? years ago. It was built with the finest construction materials at its time but sadly the owners have not done to maintain it. The rooms on floor 3 &8 have been renovated ( the 3rd floor rooms have new individual AC’s). The rooms are spacious. You need an electric extension cord for charging your phone next to the bed. ( the 2 wall electrical outlets not working in most rooms). The breakfast is not worth the 200 baht ( instant coffee, toast, fried egg.). The pool is massive. On weekends it can be busy with outsiders paying 120 baht to use the pool. Plenty of parking. A 7-Eleven & Amazon cafe is across the highway. A nice city park with a walking trail is within walking distance with a couple restaurants.

Big mystery why the owners of a large, well constructed 5 star hotel in its prime 25 years ago would not paint the exterior and take care of the grounds. Beautiful lobby area and restaurant. Huge swimming pool ( but lacks an attractive garden / relaxing area).
The hotel rooms on floor 3 have been renovated with laminated flooring, new furniture, and new ACs. Small TV but over 25 channels to choose from. It was refreshing to have a bathtub and take a hot bath. ( Good water pressure) Great, friendly staff ( and the clerks speak English)

So sad to see a beautiful old hotel going no where.
I have stayed here before about 4 years previous.
Really wish they would put so love back into the old girl.
In its day it would have been A spectacular hotel.
The service was good, the room clean and tidy, but if you want more than the basics , not going to find it here.

On the positive side, this is the heart of Thailand and the staff are just wonderful in every way. We enjoyed glorious sunrises from our large, clean room. The mattress and pillows were of good quality. Water pressure was great and wifi worked fine. BUT! The hotel is so run down, with blistered paint and dirty walls. Breakfast was the worst, eggs and hot dogs every day. The television should be in a museum, and has poor reception on every channel. The shower operates in three modes: scalding, freezing or scalding with bursts of freezing. There is an excellent chef, but no western food options in spite of the menu and with few guests, many of the Thai options were also not available. If you can forego the swimming pool, there are a few new hotels in Kalasin that are better options.

Sitting at the edge of this small town, the Rimpao must have seen better days in years past. Most surprisingly, its grandiose facade and lobby are still maintained exquisitely, the staff is efficient and attentive, and my spacious room is spotless. From the marbled-fitted bathroom and foyer to the solid wood floor, the triple panel window open to the bluest sky, I am won over. There is no other choice on my next stay. Love it!

Nice, old school, grand feeling with large open spaces in the lobby and huge rooms. Place needs some TLC no doubt - seems to have been ignored for quite a while. Breakfast was meh, but the staff was friendly. Not many English speakers but polite and smiling as everywhere in Thailand - love the Thai people!

i have been in kalasin last month and stayed at rimpao hotel, the best hotel in town according to local people recommendation. it was a big hotel with facilities but very old and not so clean. in my room there was bad smell of the old carpet and the window was locked. this prevent the ventilation. the restaurant served inexpensive menu but not tasty. the staff are friendly. the breakfast was not good, they used very low grade ham and sausage, not recommend. next time i will spend the night in mahasarakarm instead.

Have used the Rimpao Hotel annually for the last 8 years. The staff are friendly and always keen to help. It looks great from a distance and was nice once but is now a little tired. There is a large swimming pool, and the hotel food is good and inexpensive. Seems to be used as a Convention/Wedding centre (especially on weekends) and can be quite noisy. Try and ask for a room on the opposite side to the pool if you want some peace and quiet. All the cheapest rooms are twin rooms and the beds are ROCK hard.
