Went with my wife for lunch. The menu choice was good and the staff helpful and friendly. Food was good quality and we received vouchers for £5 off main meals for when we return. We will definitely return.

Visiting family locally I took advantage of sunny autumn weather to walk by canal. First visit to Royal although have driven past many times. Just there for early afternoon drink - didn't eat or stay. Good range of real ale on hand pump. Two local brews from Old School Brewery in nearby Warton. Being a Mitchell's house beer from York...

We have been in before but today we were very disappointed. Me and my friend went in for a bit of lunch. We opted for the lunch menu, where you can get the mains for £6, it did not state that portions were smaller. I ordered lasagne and my friend ordered the gammon. We ordered at the bar and sat...

We went to the Royal for a drink on our way to the local fireworks display in the village. The pub wasn't too busy but had a good few people sat eating and having drinks. I stood at the bar for almost ten minutes waiting to be served, whilst the landlord chose to ignore me and serve several people who...

We went, as a family, for tea 2 days ago. The Royal Hotel is currently the only pub in our village and has had some really rotten reviews lately that have gone completely against what we have always thought about it so we thought we'd check it out. It was clean and tidy, the staff were polite and efficient, it...

A disappointing stay here although it was a bed for the night and we would be up early the next morning. We stayed in room 3 in which they called a rack room, twin beds, a dyer need of repair of the bathroom and severe damp on the window wall, although the facilities were clean as they could be. The walls...

We arrived at the hotel at around 9:30 in the evening after a long drive from Essex. Be careful with your SAT NAV as ours directed us to a different "Main Street" in a nearby village with a very similar postcode. Fortunately we had a paper map as back up. There was an ample, and free, car park across the...

Called in on the spur of the moment whilst cycling along the canal that backs onto the pub. We ate 2 ploughman's lunches. Both were very nice but the wooden board only came with half of a warm bagette (a full one would have been more reflective for the price.) But everything was fresh. I would call in again. There's...
