A great place for that brief stop over or a longer stay. Right in the centre of town and all the food outlets and restaurants are about you and with some great choices. Stroll Taihape's main street and enjoy its 'country town' experience. We enjoyed meeting the motel owner. A gentle man who loves people and appreciates their needs. The...

We stayed here overnight on our way south. As other reviewers have said the owners have customer service worked out with welcoming beer, chips and a newspaper. The rooms are basic but clean and priced appropriately. The motel is MUCH quieter than any of the ones along the main road and it will definitely be our “regular” from now on.

Came late. No problems. The manager even gave us some chips when we arrived. We was hungry. Tidy and neat place to have a night stop. Good selection of tv channels to go to sleep to, after a long days driving. Highly recommended.

Traveled for three weeks around NZ and this was the best place we stayed. Lovely and clean, with a great manager to show us a room to see if it suited. It was perfect for our family of five. The manger then went and got us a couple of beers and packets of chips for the kids. Free DVD hire...

We passed through & stayed the one night on Boxing Day. Very pleasant owner & he gave us an option of the room we could pick which was very helpful especially with having a young one with us. Our room even though the decor is of an older era it was very clean & well kept. Nice & quiet as...

Stay here every year with friends when going to Boxing day racing in Whanganui. Motel OK and clean but service exceptional and really goes that extra mile for the guest. Looking forward to our next stay already.

We ended up here due to our vehicle breaking down. The place was clean and quiet. It had a kitchenette and some nice comfy chairs. However, during the second day they sprayed pesticides and the smell plus the chemicals in this sort of practice caused me to worry about our health. The owner though was very friendly and loaned my...

Taihape motel is an excellent place to stay. I turned up and the host gave me some chippies, beer and a newspaper. I was in a very clean and tidy and quiet room. Initially I was planning on staying for one night but the friendly atmosphere of the motel and town was so appealing that I stayed for two nights....

Con & Lisa are incredible hosts. They greet you with a smile and extra goodies for the room and their welcome and charm of the motel has kept us re-visiting around 4-6 times a year for close to 30 years. It's full of the charm of how New Zealand used to be. Reasonable rates, nice outlook and wonderful roses in...

I was riding my motorbike and needed motel for the night. I was warmly greeted and to my suprise I was given a couple of beers some crisps, a couple of DVDs and a newspaper. Breakfast was there for the morning. It's true the carpet could do with an update but for the price who cares. I've stayed at hotels...
