Very inexpensive, decent lodging and food, great atmosphere and beautiful scenery. Mabul was absolutely magical and I 100% recommend going there, but consider alternative company it you want to get PADI cert. We were robbed on our second night, roughly $400 american was stolen between 5 people, we believe it to be an inside job or police related because the...

Nice place. Very nice stuff!!!!!! 3 meals included. Double room with shared bathroom for non-diver 70RM, diver 50RM. With own bathroom 90RM (which I recommend, couse shared batrhoom is awful, but it is bearable). In showers slightly salt water, it is never 100% sweet. Nice meals - everyday the same breakfast (tosts, noodles, egs), dinner (fish, chicken/beef). Mabul is a...

First things first, this place is the cheapest on the island. We did the research walking around the island and it's the cheapest. The staff was decent. Not bad but not great. The nightmare came at night (like most nightmares) in the form of rats. How many rats you ask? RATS EVERYWHERE! They were literally crawling all over us while...

We traveled to Mabul while waiting to do a Sipadan dive with another company. The staff didn't seem to like the fact we had booked dives with another company and we seemed to get kind of a cold shoulder. The rooms were pretty dumpy. We woke up in the middle of the night with large mice everywhere-they were running over...

We booked here for two nights only but ended up staying for six. The place is cheap and probably the best place to stay on budget in Mabul. I would never reccommend anyone to stay in Semporna and do the diving from there, what a ugly town. The food at Mabul Backpackers is simple and the same every day. There...

This is the most basic and cheap accommodation available on the island, which was all we wanted as we had come solely for the diving and snorkelling. We paid in advance for two nights in a twin room with shared toilets and showers, expecting basic facilities and cleanliness. In fact the shared toilets are pretty disgusting and the floor in...

We stayed at Mabul Backpackers for a few nights. There is a guy who looks after their transport called Juma who drove us to our next destination as he was heading that way too for a predetermined price (this was prearranged before we got to the island). Just before he picked us up to take us to the airport, he...

This place is a little run down, but the staff is so nice! The dive guides were wonderful and the equipment in good order. The food is ok but could be better if it were Malay instead of western. The internet never worked while we were there (4 nights total). If you want cheap, this is a great option.

This is a budget option on Mabul island which we felt was too expensive for the quality of the accommodation and food. We chose this resort because it offered the opportunity to book two nights accommodation and to do a day at Sipidan (with other resorts a four-day stay was necessary). The resort is on Mabul island (45 mins by...
