First the pluses - Good diving, especially at Sipidan which was excellent but Mabul and Kapalai were not bad either. Great dive master called Yusir who was friendly and informed and the dive operation generally went very well and was extremely organised. Nice rooms with a relaxing balcony and lots of space. Bathrooms a bit dated but good freshwater shower...

SMARTDIVERS, Owner at Sipadan Mabul Resort, responded to this review

Dear Ms. Ryattman, We refer to your comments in trip advisor, the Management would like to response: Our resort catered for all nationalities. We do not discriminate our clienteles. Therefore the food we served in buffet varieties ranges from Malay, Chinese and Western cuisine daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The system for Sipadan permit has been well informed to...

Whilst the islands around Mabul and Sipadan are renowned for the diving, the whole experience can be destroyed if the diving base is poorly selected, the boats slow and the dive masters inadequate. We were a group of 19 divers from the Sunshine Coast of Australia for a week of diving. Most of us have dived in remote locations and...

I have booked the chalets on the island. Forget about it. Its not worth coming to this island to stay on it. The only option is water bungalows. So we channged to Royale Villa which was the only available accomodation on water. First, as other travellers observed it is very expensive. Secondly, you come to this place only for snorkling/diving....

We had a 7D/6N stay for diving and snorkeling. There is nothing else to say about the diving than it´s among the best in Malaysia. Everybody in the Dive-team are great and they work really hard to try make your stay great and make you see and experience the greatness of Sipadan and the other dive sights. If you stay...

I have just returned from a 5D/4N stay here as was aware that this is a world class dive location (Sipadan) and overall had a nice stay. Each stay you do 3 dives per day either to Mabul/Kapalai or Sipadan if you get permit (which I did and easily available at cost). I stayed in the land bungalows due to...

While it's hard to draw a comparison to anything else around these islands, we had a beautiful time staying at Sipdan Mabul Resort. As a couple, we had our rate split between one diving 6D/5N, and one non-diving 6D/5N, and we stayed on the water bungalows over crystal clear, shallow turquoise water. What we loved: - Patrick was my dive...

Services was generally very good (all food, housekeeping, etc.). Diving services was generally standard. I was surprised of bad visibility at Sipadan (in comparison with Palau etc.) and amount of rubbish in the sea close to Pulau Mabul. Situation is even much worse close to Semporna! If I compare cleanness of this sea with Malaysia Pulau Redang, Palau or Philippines...

The management is very rude and not helpful. The diving team was great but not value for the money you spend. Poor and unhealthy food, old buildings and very simple. FOr the money I was expecting much much more
